    James if you concentrate on getting your short game to tour standard, it will take all the pressure away from your long game.Then there will be no fear in missing a fairway or a green, allowing you to concentrate on your target each shot.You clearly have the desire and ball striking ability to shoot sub par rounds consistently.Dont be disheartened my friend.

    A very honest and accurate appraisal of your current feelings.This public announcement will in itself help you achieve the mind set you strive to create.Even an old duffer like me can relate to the gremlin that is the swing thought.You have the tools to leave him in the car park.Hone your alignment,concentrate on the shot in hand,your breathing,your hydration and the next thing you know all of a sudden your tempo has returned which in itself will very often deal with any technical issues without the torment of the dreaded swing thought gremlin.You have the support of all your subscribers.I look forward to giving you a game of snooker when your in town next.

    You know that this is as relatable as you can get. I will be interested to see what you do now tomorrow if you truly free your mind and don’t think about the score but the shot in front of you.
    Low points can be a great opportunity to push the reset button. You are totally right that it is almost 100% psychological because your game is sound and obviously 15 shots better than +11.

    1, write down what you want to do and hopes of what you want to do it, the mind takes it in much better. 2, breathing- take 3 deep breaths in through your nose and let them out slowly each time to a count of 5.

    Hi James, Rory Mcilroy had a meltdown in the Masters some time back and he said he started hitting the ball like a 20 handicapper. Asked to explain, he said, he started to think about the mechanics of his swing. Also, a good guide is to make sure you keep your arms nice and loose. Under pressure, many people tighten up and end up with a sore neck the next day. Keep those shoulders and arms loose at set up.

    Have a read of Zen Golf if you haven't already. Based on Buddhism, it talks a lot about being present in the moment, which is what you're talking about. Lots of cross ocer woth Bob Rotella but more accesible and less wordy. I've bookmarked a few tips with post-its that resonated with me so I can go back quickly and easily for reference. Ill have a quick referesher before a big comps, and it helps me a lot. I dont always score better, but i usually enjoy the round more 🧘🏻‍♀️

    Bob Rotella, a well-known sports psychologist, has said that the hardest part of golf is played between the ears. I used to play club tournaments and it would ruin my weekend when i played crap.. these days i just play with mates at the weekends and just enjoy the game and company and I'm playing the best golf iv ever played. Good luck with the next round James, i think if you really can play like you don't care what the score is you will be surprised how low you can go . That said if it was that easy ......

    I watched Tiger once in ione of the majors he was miles off the lead and struggling and what struck me was how he was still grinding on his game no give up in him . He said after the rpund there is always something you can learn he was working on his mind set . Remember you can't beat somebody that wont quit pick yourself up and go again this is saying how much do you want it . Youve had a bad round so what?

  • @si777
    @si777 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    All you can do is keep putting yourself in these situations and hopefully you get used to them and learn then come out the other side. Sometimes you'll be bad and other times you will be good. I know that sounds pretty obvious but sometimes people look to deep to try and figure stuff out when it could be just pretty simple like you just didn't have your game that day. All you can do is have a little think try and pick something out to learn from and carry on, Don't bother pondering over it, Usually people do and remember all the bad stuff and it over shadows all the good stuff you've done in the past. Good luck in the future rounds you'll be smashing it sooner or later.

  • @superduperawesome6858

    You definitely have a game that can do well but I think you need to find a swing (be 85-90%) where you are in control of the face and contact with the ball and apply that throughout the bag and have a 'goto' shot shape. Youre plenty long enough but should strive for consistency ( fairways and greens, a stratedgy of birdieing every par 5, working back from green if you have to, etc ) - keep plugging away !🤙

    I know exactly how you feel.....when im relaxed and not playing competition golf i can smooth it round level par comfortable and if my timing is really on im capable of playing plus golf....but i get in my head when it comes to competition golf and i try to hard and wreck my round. So frustrating when im looking at the other golfers knowing if i could just relax i can beat them no probs but i dont know how to get in to that mental place .The only little thing ive found helps me abit is making sure i play at my natural rhythm and not somebody else's. I wish i knew the answer james but your a great golfer mate and more than capable just believe that and look at the opposition with a view to there not on your level try fill yourself with confidence because it sounds like thats what your lacking a touch of....its certainly not ability you have that in abundance 👍

    Yeah, been there and done that, mate. More times than I care to remember. :-) Hang in there. Having played with you and I know you have game. Somehow you just have to find your way to clear the mind, free it up mentally and play golf naturally. Don't even think of target or what you are trying to do over the ball. All of that stuff, practice swings, etc. has to open before you get into the shot zone and over the ball. Get over the ball and do it. Hang in there, Bud.

    As a keyboard warrior, my suggestion/recommendation is to talk to a psychologist about fight and flight response under pressure and what “triggers” to use when you’re in those situations. Had similar issues in regards to write exams at uni and got some basic understanding of fight or flight response and what work with. Passed all the tests after a couple of sessions and never got the mental blocks. Keep on grinding

    Hi James - have u ever considered that it's not your swing or your head that's wrong - it was simply that your clubface was pointing too far to the left or right at impact - this sounds dumb and obvious but blew my mind when I fully understood it - out of interest what do you think ur score would've been if you had delivered a straightish clubface during your round today and kept strike just the same? You need to improve your mind, so why aren't you seeing a professional? I suggest that someone using NLP and Hypnosis could help you change your mindset very quickly. I know there are many 'golf psychologists' on the tours, ask the best performers who they use. Best wishes.

    When was your last tournament before this? If you have not played serious golf for a while and have been making swing changes you have a perfect storm to set up the kind of day you had. It seems you had a lot of expectations and got very judgmental and when things started poorly compounded errors with the round getting away from you.. You need to talk to your friend Steve about how to keep it together when things are going south, he will have bad rounds but not 11 over and will have mental techniques to stop the bleeding.
