Lochte has been around for longer in the 200m freestyle. He just didn't swim it individually up till Beijing because it conflicted with the 100m backstroke, which he was still into back then.

Sun Yang has to be the most painful swimmer to watch in the 200m. His start is horrible, but the thing that would be so easy to fix is his breathing pattern coming off the walls. He breathes EVERY stroke, long on one side, long on the other, once more on the first side and THEN he starts to actually go. You see it on the 3rd 50. He accelerates massively after that 3rd stroke. He could literally go a second faster just by jumping into a 2 stroke breathing pattern straight off the turn with that same acceleration he shows going from stroke 3 to 4
Does Chad le Close even have a coach? Like, who the fuck told him to go out in 24.3? In rio this was even more blatant. He went out in 23.9 or something like that. Seriously Chad get outta here if you're gonna swim like that.
He trains with one of the so called 'best coaches' in the world right now, but back then I don't know. Either way, he is used to do that. In his 200 butterfly he always goes 24 in the first 50.
