I like this beat rhythm, and the tempo is Perfect... because my band wrote a new song that has a "Dick Dale" Surf-punk beat ( as heard in "Pulp Fiction" with that typical double snare drum back beat as in "boom papa boom pa, boom papa boom pa" ), and we play the new song in the same tempo speed... I plan to switch out the surf-punk beat with a short Reggaeton beat in the last verse of our song where it's just Vocals and Drums. This Reggaeton exercise would come easy for me, since I often play rack tom Latin rhythms in some of our fast punk songs at this tempo speed; but the Reggaeton rhythm would be new to us. I won't mention this to my band members, I wanna surprise them with this... we usually play garage-rock and power punk; this Reggaeton beat would surprise our fans as they'd never expect this from us. Dude this is essentially a basic Soca rhythm from Trinidad & Tobago which came about long before Reggaeton and both have African roots, similar to Kizomba. The main difference really is the placement and slight nuances that are culture-specific and variation in instrumentation. It just goes to show how our history connects our music through rhythm!
Very nice beat i'm probably use it in my next reggeaton prod (i'm an amateur beatmaker). Just one question : at 0:41-0:42 how many times do you hit the hi hat for the roll ? I can't see it's too fast lol :) And what's the cymbal you hit at the end of that roll ?

I am a fan of reggeaton and this beat but I do understand what you mean. But there are different patterns and variations. It does get kind of monotone after a while. But I love to watch the girls dance on these beats.
