  • Kayaking the River Coe Scotland
    Loch Achtriochtan to Glencoe Visitor Centre
    PUT-INS/ TAKE-OUTS: Put-in where the river leaves Loch Achtriochtan (NN 13926 56685). There is a large tourist car park here, try not to get run over by a coach party.
    Take out in a large eddy on river left close to the new Glencoe Visitor Centre and campsite (NN 11430 57477). Sketchy parking is available for one or two cars near the river on the side of the main road, but a short walk will bring you to the ample parking at the visitor centre.
    APPROX LENGTH: 3.5km.
    TIME NEEDED: 1-2 hours.
    WATER LEVEL INDICATORS: It really needs to persist it down for this river to come into condition. As a minimum, you need to be able to float from the loch. Becomes a grade harder in flood levels.
    GRADING: 4 (5)
    The Coe gorge may be blocked by trees...inspect first!

    Cruel was the snow
    which swept Glencoe, and covered the grave o' 'Donald...
    It's been a few years since, but there's no forgetting. Campbells not welcome. Go back to Ft. William! ...unless you're paddlin. All paddlers are welcome!
    I used to travel all the way up from Cambridge to paddle there. Somehow a punt on the Mill Pond just doesn't provide the same thrill.

    Your video is very amazing ! I'm a French paddler and I will come in Scotland next summer for an internship. I would like to practice river kayak with your group if you want 🙂. I often practice in France in river grade 3.

      Grade 4, wouldn't recommend anything higher than a two for sometime who can't roll or read a river 😂

    How did you end up reuniting paddler with paddle and boat?

  • @chicklechives
    @chicklechives 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Tbh I'd be asking who I'm paddling with if I'd taken that long a swim past so many people and had to self rescue. Wwsr course might be a good investment

      All looked under control to me.🙄 Swimmer was least confident paddler if they couldn't roll there, but they didn't panic once out of the boat and got themselves out. Others were in attendance and covering, this is an edit not the whole picture.
