Nicely done, could watch for hours and hours on. That high professionalism that is visible in your work does this whole trip, the landscape and the whole experience justice. Thanks.
Incredible. Scotland is an amazing place to live and having it on our doorstep is something we never take for granted but make full use of when time (and weather) allows. Love your adventures and your films are breathtaking. Thanks for sharing.
As usual Jamie you delivered the 'whole' package, beautifully not only captivating those breath-taking and stunning views on film. You tickled our senses, with sounds of the right cords of music that brought, every section of that journey alive in its own right, and you finished us off...like a fabulous meal ...with your scintillating storytelling.Well done you!!! Pam
Hey Caleb, sorry for the late reply. I'm really pleased they have inspired you. I was inspired by similar things when I was younger, so it's great to know that I'm passing on the inspiration! All the best to you, Jamie
Great video! As a Canadian canoeist, I love to see canoeing videos from abroad. Also incredibly happy to see that Nova Craft Canoe. We live reasonably close to the Nova Craft shop and use one ourselves for our own trips. Awesome boats.
Also I have to add I'm really curious about the paddles I see you with! Is that a typical blade shape in Scotland? We don't see such a broad blade here very much, as most people use a longer narrower "ottertail" shape for flatwater tripping - and typically all one piece rather than these beautiful laminates. I've never heard very much about canoeing in Britain but fascinated by the similarities and differences. Your footage is so beautiful and well done.
Hi Lauren! I love my Nova craft canoe. I’m hoping to get over to Ontario some time soon, if I do I’ll certainly try and get a Nova Craft whilst i’m there. The paddles we use are by Bending Branches, they are from the USA. I have some narrower ottertail shaped paddles but I only tend to use them for very long distance journeys. Paddling here is not like it is in Canada, but we make the most of what we have! Glad you enjoyed the film!
@@JamieBarnes canoeing in Scotland looks phenomenal based on your films. Excited to see where else you're off to. If you get over here and get the chance, can't recommend Temagami or Quetico enough! Also best of luck buying a Nova. We've got one of their Blue Steel layups and truly a work of art to paddle. All the best!
Wow, I some how missed this when it first came up but I was buzzing to see you’ve uploaded again there. This is something I should be finding on ITV I think, can only imagine this effort this took .. both filming and editing! What a trip though, wow.
@Jaime • As others have said, beautiful cinematography. You also deserve kudos for your selection of music. Too often people merely select music that they like rather than considering whether it enhances the visuals. You have the talent to select music that compliments the visuals and your narration. I also liked the fact that you know when not to talk and to let the visuals speak. The editing and the shots of different elements of the weather had me both remembering the sting of sleet on my face and the breaths of incredibly clean air you only seem to get with that weather. As a spectator who enjoyed your trip and the memories it evoked, feel free to do more. You'll always have avid viewers. 👍
Thank you so much for taking the time to write that response, Yvonne. I enjoy putting videos like this together, but It's messages like this that really give me the encouragement to share them with other people. Music is always one of the hardest things for me to find for these videos, but I'm pleased you liked the selection. As for your comment about the visuals, I've also believed in 'show, don't tell'. Thank you and all the best, Jamie
Awesome video Jamie, although I didn't expect anything less! Watching it from under a tarp with the pattering of rain also added to the atmosphere 😁 Thanks for creating and sharing 👍 All the best, Paul
Pleased you enjoyed it David. Glad you liked the music choice. It took me a while to source the right ones for the video, all of these just clicked when I found them.
If I could ever reach this level of adventure or film making, that would be the dream. This was a beautiful video - an experience may perhaps be the better word. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Hi Chloe, I'm glad you enjoyed the film! These videos just take time. You've got a great TH-cam channel and an inspiring way of sharing the adventure along the way. I look forward to seeing more of your adventures! All the best, Jamie
Another wonderful video of your adventure Jamie! Beautiful filming and storytelling. The scenery looks incredible and it's so nice that you included hiking/climbing in your adventure this time as I love to explore the mountains too. Great work.
Thank you for the comment, Mario. I’m pleased you enjoyed it! I’ve got another canoeing one up next, but after that there’ll be some more hiking ones. Stay tuned! All the best.
These are some exceptional films you are capable of creating. Very well done on all your videos. They show an outstanding element of this island. Thank you very much.
Its a truly remarkable spot. I’ve tried to not draw too much attention to where it is, although people could probably work it out if they really wanted to know. Great to hear that you lead trips there, it’s a hell of a spot for guiding with a lot of options for exploration!
I've completed most of the ones i've set out to do, just never had my camera with me for those ones i've completed! I'm releasing my next one in a few weeks. We may or may not complete that one! 😂
I've always had this inner calling to visit the scottish highlands since I was a child. After getting the results of my DNA and discovering that I'm 62% scottish ancestry I think I understand that call. I will be leaving for the Highlands next summer coming all the way from California. Feel like I'm coming home.
Another great adventure and so calming to watch. I kept thinking how cold your hands must have been especially when filming. Looking forward to future adventures 👏 👌
I’m pleased you enjoyed it! I had some gloves but they were not really ideal when it came to using the camera. I’ll have to find a better option for next time. Stay tuned for more.

I love your videos and storytelling. Your videography is excellent! Enjoyed it very much, thank you! Can you tell me what app/site you use for the "map clips" at 0:30 that you insert in your timeline?
Glad you enjoy them, Rick. I built those map segments from scratch using the 3D modelling software called Blender and utilising heightmap data from QGIS.
I’m glad you thought so! Everything was shot handheld, so there was no use of stabilisers or gimbals. I did some stabilisation in the editing process but sometime it doesn’t look so good, so often I just leave it as it was shot. Some of the shots towards the end was certainly affected by the wind!
