  • The elephant herds of the Luangwa Valley had faced decades of ruthless poaching for their ivory in a place where they once thrived in their thousands, only a few hundred remained.
The task of protecting these elephants was once insurmountable, but for the better part of 30 years, the North Luangwa Conservation Project has been in motion and it has seen some incredibly dedicated and selfless project leaders, game wardens, and scouts tackling the poaching threat head on. The results are clearer now more than ever how partnerships, education and trust can result in tangible results through an evident population increase in the elephant densities of the North Luangwa National Park. The park has seen an inmigration of elephants as the park, once again, becomes a safe-haven for these once persecuted elephants.
