This is the most standout scene for me in the Spider-Man franchise. Honestly, I think it should go right up on par with "Great Power, Great Responsibility".
Years later, it holds up as one of the greatest scenes in the entire trilogy and it holds right up par with Uncle Ben's words but her speech was more inspiring and heroic and it felt realistic because it resonates with it when someone who's willing to give some advice to a younger relative needed to hold on a second longer. In other terms, holding a grip to get their life together.
i think she did. because before this scene peter did saving her from dr.octopus in bank robbering and he said to aunt may as "We" then she asking why saying "We" that scene will make sene enough for this point
@@lucky5757Lmao, she did. Consolidated in Spiderman 3’s revenge scene against Flint Marko. You think she didn’t recognize Peter’s mannerisms when being rescued by Spiderman? You think she didn’t recognize his voice up close after being rescued? She most definitely knew he is Spiderman.
I’d say into the spiderverse was the closest but this has heart that captures Spider-Man in the simplest form. It’s not too busy to show a struggle and what a hero should be. When Spider-Man shines brightest is when it can slow down and reflect his personal life along side his superhero responsibilities. Other movies have tried but this one did and set the standard. Aunt May being the voice reason and wisdom is so good.
The spider verse movies come close but I feel like spiderman 2 has so many great scenes and so many laughs and it's all in service of a very thoughtful and tasteful Spider-Man story with depth and pretty amazing performances. It feels rewarding to look deeper into these films

@@beastguillermoThere's an hero in our everyday's life when we do the most noble things. And sometimes we have to sacrifice the thing we want the most for the greater good.
@@beastguillermo You don't really need a superhero. It's all a symbol for many or example. Sometimes we just need someone who can show us to show strength and courage. To stand up when we are knocked down. Spider-Man in this case is merely a symbol.
The wonderful thing looking back on this scene 20 years later is that this movie, and this scene especially, is probably an inspiration to a lot of superhero writers and moviemakers, the same way she describes heroes being an inspiration. It's hard to imagine capturing the tone of the underdog hero better than this. Not as high stakes as all that when it is just superfiction, but it will always hold a very special place in my heart for the rest of my moviegoing life :)
None of the Multiverse Spider-Man movies have been able to capture this level of emotional resonance. And Harris is pitch perfect in this movie serving as Peter's guide to him returning as Spider-Man and being a hero again. . For me, this is still the best Spider-Man movie.
I thought this scene was just Oscar/commercial bait until i realized on a rewatch that this really is the conclusion to May's arc in this movie, not only accepting Peter for what happened to Uncle Ben but fully giving him her backing to be the best Spider-Man he can be, also explaining how she could give up her dream (the home she shared with Uncle Ben) and the strength she herself holds
And people say that mcu aunt May is the best for no other reason besides just being younger. Such a stupid reason to consider her to be the best when she have no life advice and guidance to our hero like the rami aunt May did.

Great scene!

No Spiderman movie has surpassed SpiderMan2, in character development, Story, emotions.
NO SUPERHERO

Right especially why Iron Man is MCU but Spider-Man is Marvel

Rosemary Harris is so cute and adorable as Aunt May. She's just amazing.❤
I'm glad she is still alive and living a long life
“And I’m giving him 5 dollars” makes me laugh everytime haha😂
Close some 15 today dollars
If I helped an old woman pack some things to relocate elsewhere I should deserve at least £20

My Favorite Aunt May Moment.
She definitely knew Peter was Spider-Man.
3:24 That look says it all.
And after Peter told her the truth about Uncle Ben I think she also knows why he's Spider-Man. Such a perfect written story

This scene is the reason why this Aunt May is better then MCU Aunt May
Facts
And also better then TASM Aunt May i mean all the Aunt May's are good but Sam Raimi's Aunt May is just the best (My Opinion)
TASM aunt May is the second best. MCU, it's so horrible, I don't even count it.@@eliafouad756
Honesyly mcu aunt may was slutty.

What a fantastic scene. Amazing Trilogy 👏🏻 ❤
I love garfields spiderman, but this may and ben are untouchable

I'm still mad that she gave away his comic books.
PROBABLY TO HENRY JACKSON ACROSS THE STREET
Those old things?
Masterpiece
She knows he was spiderman
I think this scene really goes out of its way to signal that she knows

They like the new one cuz she’s hot, which was the cheap way to go.
As far as spider man is concerned, mcu fans tastes are 🤮
MCU Aunt May is a joke, a parode
In the comics, Aunt May is typically in her 50’s and 60’s. Youngest maybe late 40’s.
Canonically, Aunt May is meant to be an older woman.
I love this scene ❤
This is such a wonderful and personal scene. Having someone special to share with is a gift in itself.
This my favorite spiderman movie .period .Very powerful 4 min .Says so much in 4 min time
Every good man needs a strong 💪, Wise Woman in their life 👏 🙌 Beautiful Speech 💬 inspiration for so many!!!

Yeah… Aunt May knew.
He is Spider-man
I cry everytime relatable realistic and the whole meaning of hereos and marvel in 1 scene
That woman looks kinda familiar I feel like seen a tv show I wonder is that red’s mother cuz it like it her
I love the line about the comic books. They’re good source material but comic books remain irresponsible juvenile crap.

I thought comic books inspired movies like this? That's an odd juvenile comment lol
This comment is exactly what I would expect from an irresponsible juvenile. Maybe try having some self awareness.
