This album will always be the highest point of music together with Untitled or Led Zeppelin IV, because just like The Lord of the Rings trilogy, there is no work that reaches their heels, at their level of perfection, it is impossible.

They were a perfect example of when the whole exceeds the sum total of the parts. Amazing band really. This is a funny quote because JPJ is usually pretty quiet and humble. Often not given the credit he is due. Jones arranged the majority of this no matter what Page says lol. But he's right. Killer!

My favorite Zep album, unless I'm in the mood for screaming Page solos, then it's the II album, until I want something with more bluesy roots, then it's the first album. But sometimes I want some Big Bonzo drumming, then it's IV for me, but then there are times what to sit back and mellow out, then III is the best. But now and then I want something a little more obscure, time to enjoy some Jonesy, so it's In Through The Out Door, but then sometimes if my lady an I are on a road trip we like to enjoy Houses of The Holy together. If I feel like rocking hard, it's time for Presence. I guess they're all my favorites.

Ten Years Gone still blows me away. It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I figured it out on guitar and was still blown away by its structure, melody, chords you don't hear/see in rock. Just stunning. The bass is amazing in it as well. The vocals, everything is just perfect. It's a one-of-a-kind song. Never heard anything like it before or since. A masterpiece.

Absolutely. Listened to this song so much when it came out in eleventh grade ( 1975) in High school that have memorized note to note, riff to riff, word for word, like I can play it at will in my head as if it were on the radio, as well as most of the other songs. Don't own the album, haven't even owned nor listened to the 8 track since High school but yet can do that. Saw them at the Long Beach arena March 1975 for the tour of this album and can remember what Plant was wearing, even a comment Plant said, referring to mess ups during the performance.

Zep mostly had cool influences from old black guys from the American south, who actually lived the blues not like middle class pussy white guys, writing is key, though zeppelin were sick musicians and had attitude, this style has just been done, actually similar but just as cool is Dungen, Swedish band, just pay attention to whats out there not the radio though cause the industry is full of leaches now without any real artistic sensibility

Yeah. I always saw Zep as a blues band. I mean, come on! It was Page and Clapton who were big parts of the blues revival to begin with, in their Yardbirds days. And of course, Page was at the top of his game by this time, being more mature and having developed his craft. Heck,.all four of them were. Plant had the well seasoned voice, Bonzo was the ultimate drummer (he and Keith Moon were streets ahead of the competition and there were some good drummers then) and Jones was a cracking bass player.
Heck, the chance of something like that happening again must be as remote as ... England winning the World Cup again (though I do hope I'm wrong.)

In my.mind, this is Zeppelin at their peak. When I got this record in 1975 I was 15. I played the SHIT out if it. Every day. I would lay in the floor, out the two speakers in either side of my head, crank it and just dissolve. I had some rough times as a teenager and this was both an upper and a sedative. The level of musicianship was equal to the energy level. It just hit me like a smack in the vein.

Yeah, after Bonzo’s death, Plant went solo. It was the Plant/Page collaboration that made their phenomenal contribution. They played together sometimes, but it was old Zep tunes. You could tell the death of Bonzo really hit them hard and no other drummer could replace him. They were family and you cannot replace a brother! Without Bonzo, Led Zeppelin was no more. My father made me discover rock and roll when I was young, making me listen to Led Zepp tracks from time to time but it's only about 3 years ago ( I was 22 ) that I listened to their complete Discography. And god why listen to modern music when they are so much gems like this album everywhere, available in less than 2 seconds on TH-cam for free.
I'm listening to this album, remembering I liked it a lot but not sure why, only remembering it's the one that has Kashmir on it but I knew it's not the main reason I love the album
Then In My Time of Dying hit me "oh yeah it's this track"
Then 13:37 and 14:00 hits me like a truck giving me goose bumps "Ooooh yeah that's exactly for THAT moment"
Then 14:53. Gosh this track just keeps getting better and better, it's insane, that's real rock.
It's my favorite LZ song with "When the Leevee Breaks"
I really like reading people's comment saying they discovered Led Zepps as teenagers, don't worry guys, the young are still rocking and will pass this legacy to future generations like you did for us 🤘

That groove in the Wanton Song is incredible! Page killed it with just a simple octave rhythmic riff. Remembered when my older brother bought this album home and I was in awe with the whole package. Technology progresses but there is something special about opening this double album, looking at the tenants in this NYC apt building, the day/night aspect of the covers and playing Kashmir so much that track is worn down on the album. Yes, I had the same overwhelmed feelings by the ocean of music from Side C and D. Money well spent on music, I thought in my teens.

    In the light lyrics
And if you feel that you can't go on
    And your will's sinkin' low
Just believe, and you can't go wrong
In the light you will find the road
    You will find the road
Oh, did you ever believe that I could leave you
    Standing out in the cold
I know how it feels 'cause I have slipped through
To the very depths of my soul
Ooh baby, I just want to show you what a clear view
It is from every bend in the road
    Now listen to me
    Oh, whoa-whoa, as I was
And really would be for you, too, honey
As you would for me, oh, I would share your load
    Let me share your load
Ooh, let me share, share your load
And if you feel that you can't go on
In the light you will find the road
Though the winds of change may blow around you
But that will always be so
Whoa whoa, when love is pain it can devour you, but you are never alone
I will share your load, I will share your load
Baby, let me, oh, let me
    In the light
    Everybody needs the light
    Ooh yeah
    Ooh baby
In the light, in the light, in the light
Light, light, light, in the light
Light, light, light, in the light, ooh, yeah
Light, light, light, in the light
Light, light, light, in the light
Light, light, light, in the light, ooh, yeah
Light, light, light, in the light

An absolute masterpiece. Nothing to comment about it! A M-A-S-T-E-R-P-I-E-C-E. In rock music, in the MUSIC for all time.
