Back in November 2023 I won a brand new Range Rover Sport in a competition. I was considering keeping the car for a year and then selling it but when I spoke to my local Range Rover dealer to get an idea of what it might be worth after a year, the first thing he asked me was if I had insurance sorted out for the vehicle yet and when I said no, his response was for this particular model I would be looking at around £12,000 to insure it - TWELVE GRAND to insure the car. Fortunately the organisers of the competition also offered a cash alternative, which was less than the price of a brand new Range Rover but still a significant amount of money to me, so I took the cash instead. The more I think about it the more convinced I am that this was the best decision I have ever made.
