Hi Larry, nice video. I like seeing historical towns. Everything looked very colorful with the trees. You will have to visit the hotel one day and pick out a good haunted room.
In the beginning Tacoma was saying let’s get this show on the road! So many historical markers across the country don’t have anywhere to park to go read them. At least that’s been my experience. Your walking tour was interesting with all the information you found along the way. Nice historical town. Early on in your video there was a tall, thin building which I thought was really cool. That was a nice “you are here” marker by the river walk. I enjoyed the walk through the Mound Cemetery as well LLL. Great video LLL, thank you for sharing your visit! 👍🏼🤗🍂🍁
Thanks AZ! You are right though about markers being hard to get to sometimes. I actually missed quite a bit of this town. I should have showed the college football field for one, it is very unique. It is a black and grey color as opposed to green. Also missed the Ohio River museum.
WOW, I visited Marietta many, times growing up. Never knew there was a mound there. Thank you for this informative video. We visited the museum on the corner of 2nd Street, the fair grounds the other way, and the Paddle Boat down in the river, but missed many other places of interest. Our trips to Marietta were to visit family in Marietta and down the highway in Constitution, Ohio. Thank you again for showing me things I missed seeing all those years ago.
I enjoy seeing areas through the windshield Larry! Feels like I’m there. Beautiful scenery, and trees are great fall colours. Thanks for the history lesson of Marietta and the tour! Stay safe and have a great weekend!!!
Hi Lily! It's a beautiful time here now for the fall colors. We did get snow a couple nights ago. I seen you had that already too. Hope you and Bob are doing well !
Made a trip to a marbles showin 2003 with a friend in Parkersburg West Virginia. We drove exploring the countryside and wound up in Marietta Ohio. Had a great day hitting antique shops. At that time had a Steamboat Paddlewheeler docked on river downtown. I didn't realize its historic significance...
Love Ohio Larry Iv been going there every winter for almost 30 year I have friends in Amelia Ohio now that I live in South Carolina it’s only a 7 and a half drive my my house in SC one of my favorite things is to go inside the Kroger at Mount Orb to Starbucks gets some coffee there’s a picnic table on the side of the building when we drink our coffee take a few puffs off my cigar and just shoppers going in and out. Yeah I’m Mr excitement lol.
@@Huskytrailsandtails I lived in Houston twenty years and my first time seeing the Houston Texans was last year when they played the Bengals at Paul Brown/ Paydor stadium I always sit upper level sec 303 it looks out over the Ohio river into Covington Kentucky it’s the best football stadium in the United States. Oh PS the Bengals lost that day but it didn’t ruin my view.
Harmar Village used to be Fort Harmar, and protected the Marietta colony from Indian attacks. Imagine those 18thc colonists thinking “Some day, this fort will be a parking lot and nobody will care that we lived.”

Thank you Rita. I've been wanting to stay. Just getting time.
Oh, my. We moved to Marietta in 1963, when I was 10. That's where I grew up. Back in those days, there couldn't have been a better place.
Very interesting town. Neat to visit.

Thank you so much. I could have done much better. It's such a beautiful and historic town.

Thank you for the kind words Sherry. There is still so much more I missed in the video. It's a beautiful and interesting town for sure.
I grew up in Marietta, it’s a wonderful place! Also, I love dogs but I’m very allergic.
Need to do more studies of marietta. So you can tell people what places were and are now.
That is a good idea

You come to Ohio in the winter? That's when I wanna go south, haha. I do like SC.

The Henry Fearing house was built in 1847 not 1947.
Thank you
Once you crossed the bridge you were on what we call the west side or harmar village. (Its still Marietta) it's pronounced Harmer too lol
Thank you. I dudnt know that.
Fort Harmar way back in late 18thc.
That bridge you see from the Lafayette isn’t I77, it’s the Williamstown bridge. And Harmar is pronounced HAR-MER.
Thank you.. I realized that later. Still learning about this.
The bridge in your video is the Williamstown bridge. The I-77 bridge is just up river from this bridge...
Thank you. I thought I mistook it.
are people friendly? do you have old dilapidated structures like old steel mills and run down buildings?
Hi Michael! The people there seem very friendly. I'm not sure about the buildings. Probably as it's an old river town. Thank for watching
COMMODORE Abraham Whipple.
Dog can’t go I don’t go.
I take my pup everywhere with me. Well except work, lol and I wish I could do that.
