My top five would be 1 Derek Trucks, Rod Price from Foghat, Lowell George, Johnny Winter and Ry Cooder.

Tough to make a choice. All played different styles and all were amazing. I tend to gravitate toward acoustic slide because when playing goes way up into the high registers of the guitar I get lost in the noise of it all. It's sonic but a lot of it is ad libbing and I kind of start getting lost beyond the 12th fret. I tend to move toward Joey Landreth and to Seth Lee Jones.
Check the vid with Joey Landreth and Seth Lee Jones playing Mule guitars in the Mule shop. Those two cats can wake you up to virtuosity that you just don't see too often.
