When architect Anthony Belluschi took on the restoration of a midcentury modern house in the West Hills of Portland, Oregon, he had big architectural shoes to fill - his father’s. Internationally known architect Pietro Belluschi had built the native wood and glass home in 1948 for a client. Years later the architect returned from the East Coast, where he’d been dean of MIT’s School of Architecture, to buy the house he designed. He lived in it from 1973 until his death in 1994.
More recently, Anthony - himself a successful architect - rebuilt the teahouse on the property as a small guest studio to live in while his mother’s caregivers used a bedroom in the main house. After his mother died, Belluschi and his brother inherited the house, which had seen few repairs in its six decades. Instead of tearing down the structure, as some suggested, Belluschi moved into the tiny guesthouse and took on a major renovation, enlarging the main residence by more than 700 square feet. The alterations so improved on his father’s original vision that in 2013, Belluschi received a DeMuro Award from the historic preservation organization Restore Oregon, given for “extraordinary historic rehabilitation projects.” - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต

What a lovely homage to your father by updating a home that meant so much to him but keeping so well in the original design flow. I can't believe a realtor suggested it was a tear down, even if it needed some work. This home is just breathtakingly beautiful. I could only dream.
Some realtor says “it can be a tear down”. Response should have been, “get out and don’t let the door hit you in the ass”. This is a home built with thought and love, what a wonderful job to restore it!

Nice main house. The guest house "kitchbath" is not practical. The sanitary and smell factors make it a terrible choice. I love the view!

I keep replaying the kitchbath scene like some Onion video... "everything to the right is a bathroom." "It's a kitchbath." "everything to the right is a bathroom." "It's a kitchbath." the rest of the video is a blur...
That "kitchbath" though... I didn't see any cooking facilities there or did I just miss that? I can't imagine someone cooking dinner just after someone else used the 🚽 so maybe that kitchbath is not meant for cooking? Who can shine a light on this? Otherwise I really love this house. It's a true piece off timeless architecture. What a great job they have done!

The main room sings. The wood, open plan design, the style and the surrounding view of nature are lovely. This room seems designed to feel a certain way, as opposed to just looking good. That's good home design.

tHe kitchbath is big enough to be seperated into two with a wall and to have a full bathroom amd a small kiychwn no need to smash them together. or just dont make a kitchen there it is attatched to the house why would they need a kitchen there.

A beautiful home and i am glad you can share that with your father. However, i do agree with the other comments regarding the toilet in the kitchen. Also (while everything is beautiful and i would LOVE to live in that space) it does seem a bit dark so a large sky light in the main living space would make it even more amazing. Over all a great space
