Love your videos Rob! John may remember me, he used to work at the local hobby store in Jamestown NY. My dad and I would stop in a talk to him while getting stuff for our model railroad and I can remember him showing us photos of his layout. I never got to see it until I found this video! What a beautiful layout! Love your videos of the kits you build and these tours! -Steve
What a delightful tour! I was born in Cumberland and raised in Hyndman. I didn't think anybody knew these places existed.. lol. It brought back a flood of memories, including my ride on the last passenger train from Hyndman to Cumberland. What a fabulous pike! Thank you for the tour!
Fine layout, fine layout. I can recall, as a young lad going out shopping and, occasionally, being stopped at a nearby B&O grade crossing. I always thought that their bay window cabooses were pretty cool. Also, Judy's backdrop artwork is truly remarkable. Her expert depiction of atmospheric extinction is nothing short of impressive. I grew up with the Pennsy and the B&O so this is a real treat for me. As a matter of fact, one of my maternal grandfather's brothers was a steam locomotive engineer on the B&O.
Excellent 👌👍 Beautiful layout. So many beautiful scenery to see.. I would love to make tree's like your wife Judy? I'm trying one out of 3 came out ok but really not ready to go on layout I want to change things around and make it more as your scene then city life which is in the middle of the round wall I'll leave city there but made the mistake of putting roads around the layout I want more country...love the team work guys . again great 👍 video . Thanks for the ideas guys , joe
I love how he makes the trees smaller in the background - forcing perspective and depth. And then there are the backdrops... I favor photo backdrops, but this is AMAZING.
First of all. Happy thanksgiving Mr. Bennett, and family. This is a spectacular layout to say the least. I can't believe all the talent that is in Pennsylvania. These layouts are some of the best ever seen on TH-cam. You have a great eye for capturing these layouts. John & Judy are artists! The backdrop that Judy did is beautiful! John's skills are awesome too! Thank you for sharing with us this couple's hi rail empire.
Thank you for sharing this video. I model B&O in n-scale, but my home railroad is set in central Illinois which calls for much different scenery and landscapes. This is inspiring.
An excellent video-tour of a fantastic layout Mr Bennett. Maybe because I'm not too familiar with U.S. prototypes or layouts but I noticed a lot of similarities between this layout and your own. Another thing I noticed with John & Judy's set-up: much shorter trains than many American layouts, more akin to British prototype. As someone has already pointed out, these people are certainly ARTISTS - 5000+ trees - just staggering. Thanks for sharing this lovely creation with us. All the Best, Dougie from Scotland.
Beautiful Layout !!! I also like the SW 1 Switcher, I volunteer at the Wilmington & Western Railroad and we have B&O SW1 No.8408 and it is painted in the same livery. I have a short video on my channel of them putting her to bed at the end of the day. Barry Broyles
You are getting better and better at video taping these layout tours, this video is outstanding. The camera car especially, showed the out standing scenic work and modeling. There are some scenes from camera car with the wonderful backdrop where you forget it’s a model. Thanks.
Impeccable. Your wife's landscapes behind Rockwood look so convincing with your aesthetic forward work on the bench. I have modeled the B&O for decades and have a layout set in 1947 of Harpers Ferry to Ellicott City with the Brunswick engine yards and the Point of Rocks interchange and district. I too placed Ellicott City beneath the Brunswick MD benchwork and built the street scene dipping down to a mirror allowing a street leading away perspective. I too placed N scale farmhouses, barns and livestock figures on the background hills to force perspective as well as a smaller scale Hilltop House hotel above Harpers Ferry station. The layouts are very similar, but your work bests mine. Thank you for sharing this.
Wow Steve...What a beautiful Layout and the camera work is outstanding. I really loved the camera car ride. John and Judy are amazing artist!!! The backdrops were stunning and the buildings are very detailed and weathered beautifully. It really felt like I was the engineer in the cab riding through western Maryland...So good i had to watch it twice and I'm going to watch again while I work on switches... Thank You for the tour of this amazing layout TOM
Beautiful layout. I love Appalachia and the train route to Washington DC from Chicago. Caught a glimpse of the post war Studebaker. Beautiful! My uncle had one of them. Greetings from Milwaukee!
Awesome video my mother started working for the b&o in Cumberland Maryland and my grandfather on my mom side also worked on the b&o in Cumberland Maryland sweet video i really like that layout
Absolutely beautiful layout. The trains and scenery are outstanding. You did a great job in the video and I thought the camera car footage was great. Great layout based in a wonderful time. Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for sharing this super layout 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Love the layout I'm getting good ideas for my 60 s era LIRR trains which were a deisel fleet of manly Alco C420 high hoods . Them and the R s 1 Rs2s or RS 3 sand S2s ran from 50s to 76then mainline was electrified to M1s until 80s then M3 came into picture .Long Island was loyal to Alco .Then Alco shutdown and the came GP38-2s with bicentennial paint scheme In 90s they got rid of mainly paror cars and bar cars with new bilevels with the new DE series of genset diesels and genset 500 numbers which were diesels or straight locomotives which were 420series .They also did push pulls with the Fa1s or Fa 3s.The old dashing fan loco on older passenger cars looked the nicest . I'm surprised they changed the orange and grey to blue and yellow on these older locomotives . LIRR should have kept some Alco C420s and Rs 1 2 or 3s around . I'd like to bring in 2 clinchfieldlocos too.
Wonderful layout, and thanks for the tour Rob! Trying to get caught up on my vids this weekend. Just got back from 2 weeks in Illinois. Brrr! Lol! Cheers, Dan
Hi Rob, another great layout tour. Thanks, I love seeing all these amazing layouts. I'm just wondering when will we get a chance to see trains running on your own layout again? Oh I enjoyed the sounds of the trains running during the tour, not too loud for me!
So far I have only seen one road on the whole layout I guess they have little side rail cars to go to Georges' house and around the layout until the roads are put in
Another great layout tour....that said it was hard to hear much of the dialog because of the train noise in the background...maybe not so much of the train sound next time. Otherwise keep up the great video work....thanks

I also loved the Friday and weekend special parlor cars .I think on weekends too.
I love how he makes the trees smaller in the background - forcing perspective and depth. And then there are the backdrops... I favor photo backdrops, but this is AMAZING.
Rob, the camera car is a winner. That perspective is great! This is a wonderful layout.

The ballast looks amazing. Almost too perfect.
Yes, but did you notice he didn't paint the rails? Pity

Hi Rob, another great layout tour. Thanks, I love seeing all these amazing layouts. I'm just wondering when will we get a chance to see trains running on your own layout again? Oh I enjoyed the sounds of the trains running during the tour, not too loud for me!
SWEEEEEEEETTTTTTT. I want to purchase some of his buildings.
I really like these vids of yours, and have subscribed. I do think using a tripod might help make the films sharper and less bouncy...
So far I have only seen one road on the whole layout I guess they have little side rail cars to go to Georges' house and around the layout until the roads are put in
Very nice layout and great tour Rob! The backdrop is very nice! What camera do you use? The video and photos are very good!
Wish they would fix and put Green port turntable back in service .
I subscribed to follow up more of yours.
Another great layout tour....that said it was hard to hear much of the dialog because of the train noise in the background...maybe not so much of the train sound next time. Otherwise keep up the great video work....thanks
Why not balance train sounds and dialog. Do not talk when the train is in the foreground.
I wish you would have showed the camera going through the tunnels that would have been nice
What scale is this?
HO scale.
Berea?
Yes- a large train show that is usually the first weekend in October:
www.thegreatbereatrainshow.org/home.html
Berea train show, Berea, Ohio. In southern Cleveland metro area. Every October in multiple buildings at the county fairgrounds.
Great layout, too bad the train is too loud. I gave up and didn't finish the video. It was just to distracting. Sorry.
Really beautiful layout and great video.
