    7:22 He never learned personal fear. He only ever learned to recognize fear for those he cares about.
    Kender is a magical cures, that he even learned to recognize fear for others is a testament to Tass.

      It absolutely 100% consistent.
      I’m also not sure who the Author[edit it was Weis solo in the 2000’s so that why I had never heard of them.] of The Souls arc, so not sure why that particular dragon’s fear effected Tass when even the goddess of all dragons fear had no effect on Tasselhoff?
      Kender are not just go lucky without a care they are incapable of the feeling of fear. They are not thoughtless. It just even if they take a risk and it leads to their death oh well; as death is the last great unknown and adventure.

      The Dragon's Fear effected him (and all Kender) because they were not of Krynn. It was (lazy) foreshadowing by the authors/editors.

    Tas is my absolute favorite from the series. Like all kender, he gets a bad rap, but he's probably the most pure-hearted of the heroes. It may be naiveite, but he saw through all the BS to see what really mattered and what really was at stake. And his pure love for his friends, plus ability to land some sweet quips, was what always endeared me to him. So when others pushed back and slung scorn at him and his kender kin, I doubled down on my love for them. It is because of my love for him that I have played so many kender, half kender, quarter kender in my games throughout the years. And always I bring with them that pure-hearted love I saw in Tas, as to me, that is truly the essence of kender.

    What an epic character! My favorite scene in DOAT is with Tass, the one with the wicker dragon!
    Also fun fact: for years I thought his name was Gdilan (short Gdil), because in the language I read it they translated most of the names. Only when I started searching on google I found out the truth. It's a bit of a mis-translataion but the translator didn't have much of a choise (gdil means tassel, gdilan means thistle; it still captures the idea of Tass).

      Kronin Thistleknot was the Hero who killed Lord Toade. I wonder how the translation delt with that?

    • @DrEllert
      @DrEllert 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@aedwardsss Interesting. I totally forgot about him, and after reading your reply, I started searching him in the book. Toade is accented (to-di instead of toe-di) and the kender: Kronin (the name is the same) Nitzat-Barak (direct translation: thistle-bud. "barak" is probably short for "barkan" which is like thistle, hence probably the name.)
      I think that some of the translations are excellent, some are meh, since this is a hobby of mine I know how hard it is to translate and keep the idea\spirit in the new language.
