He was literally the best character. Always said what people were thinking & topped it off with a couple necessary & uncontrollable f-bombs. Best character. My guy.
I have major problems with the show but one thing ill say is the dude who plays Bird absolutely nails the form of his shot... He's pitch perfect with the placement of his arms, his flick & the hight of his jump.
The Show is Great entertainment .The book was a brilliant read .But Jerry west was more of a quiet storm of a personality .A very tortured soul because of all those horrendous losses .
In school we went to the State Championship 3 out of my 4 years. We lost -- crushed -- all 3 times. My senior year we lost in the semi-finals at home on an unsportsmanlike like conduct penalty. 14 years later there's not a day that goes by that I don't still think about those years. I can't even imagine what Jerry West feels with how fresh in his head it still would have been in 1979.
@@maineventkrunch2265 That's what we call a hefty kick in the bollocks in in England ....Horrendous ! 😠
I LOVE Winning Time.
And also the doc on Lakers, The Legacy.
Amazing casting one of the best ever casting of a sport movie or series ever done.
That’s how West was from 76-81. He had gotten a divorce in ‘76 because Wilt exposed him about his womanizing in his ‘73 book without saying his name which is why he quit playing. He didn’t want to coach but he had no money due to the divorce. Once he became GM, he found his purpose. But from that period, he was a lost soul.
Basically the living breathing version of Steely Dan's Deacon Blues until that brother became free and got to be what he wanted to be.
It annoyed my, the over the top portrayal of Jerry West. They should of toned it down a bit. I have seen loads of interviews with West, this show was not to fair to him
I feel the same way
I appreciate truth. The good stories are true, so why "dramatize" them? Just tell them and get out of the way.
It’s a good show. It’s not going to be the final, definitive statement on Jerry West’s life.
He is solidified by his career and nothing will change that.
We’re really going to gloss over the possibility of Bo Burnham being Larry Bird?!?!
Riiiiight?!!!!
Wait... they wanted bo burnham as larry bird????
This guy should have got a Emmy
All characters look good in Winning Time except for Magic.
Cool video
The portrayal of tarkanian was criminal
Do you mean it was accurate since he WAS a criminal? LOL
Jerry West's portrayal is fucking garbage too
@@nealpeifer6869 you mean he won a multi million dollar lawsuit against the ncaa for harassment and unjust punishments ? Bc that happened. Officials in the ncaa admitted to having a grudge against him bc stuff he said in a article he wrote at Long Beach state
@@nealpeifer6869 read what bill walton said about tark and John wooden. UCLA was paying players huge amounts of money and unlv players had holes in their clothes, eating pb&j’s
That show is pure dope
HBO
Succession
Winning Time
House of the Dragon
🐐
The Wire
Deadwood
Sopranos
Boardwalk empire
Game of thrones
I like very very lil tv. But Succession, true detective (seasons 1 and 3), the wire are at the very top of list of motion pictures productions. 👍
HBO makes the best tv in general.
The portrayal of Jerry West is a missed opportunity. Jerry came from dirt-poor West Virginia, where basketball was culture, to start professional basketball on the West Coast. He was and is, an elegant, sophisticated individual. The low score at the Bel Air Country Club. Angry competitor, yes. But also extremely sagacious. Complicated. But it begins with Jerry's body. The Logo. They needed an actor svelte and graceful, and put a brain on that. They didn't.
you can tell rich likes the show but doesn’t wanna say anything too positive because of how the people portrayed in the show reacted 😂
Just watched season 2 episode 6 rich played a radio commenter, you just hear his voice you don't see his face
Yep I noticed that too
The portrayal of West is not how the real man is. It's an absurd portrayal.
💯
Like it's an over the top caricature
It's like really bad lol
Read his autobiography. Most of the absurdity that plays out in the show comes directly from that.
Dude Jerry West used to so riled up his doctor told up to stop watching games because his blood pressure would skyrocket so Jerry would drive around the parking lot at the Forum sometimes having the game on the radio
Bo Burnham???? Did I hear that right?
John C. Reilly is simply brilliant. Solomon is really good. But I did not like Quincy Isaiah at all. He got lost in the mannerisms and the smile and couldn’t get the depth of the character
Bo burnham as Larry bird?!
I agree with the criticism. The source material was good enough without distorting it. These people are all still alive - why fictionalize them?
If it was bad I’d agree but I feel it was actually a positive thing
No it wasn't. It was boring. Real life is never as exciting as the fiction. It's like what the feds say about wiretaps of the mafia. They aren't saying anything. It's pretty boring actually. Will people watch the Sopranos if it were like that? No. TV is entertainment and that's it.
Does this guy hate Jerry West? Never any f bombs. Stupid exaggerated portrayal by someone with something to push.
*Jerry West is a whiny* 🤡
