I've always loved this song. So pretty, so quiet, so twangy.

Ian Gomm was a contributing force to Brinsley Schwarz with "Silver Pistol" in 1972 where "Rockin' Chair" exemplifies that developing country guitar style, re: N. Young "Emperor of Wyoming", and numerous Byrds songs. "Rockin' Chair" and "Range War", & "One More Day" were other examples of Ian's songs. Nick Lowe was the major song-writer in the band, with Billy Rankin drums, Bob Andrews Keyboards, and Ian Gomm, Guitar & vocals in "Thinking Back: Anthology 1970-1975", which is an excellent collection that shows Brinsley Schwarz through their 1970-'75 in 6 cd's work and their continuing influence on music, and in particular, Rock 'N Roll. Check out "Cruel to be Kind", a writing collaboration of Nick Lowe and Ian Gomm reflecting a certain countryish back front porch swing & twang that is there in "Rockin' Chair'. This is what I mean when the best stuff comes out of hiding in a certain interpretative sequence of the experience of interpreting. But that in itself, what Kant called the Schema of the link of the Imagination's link Occurs between the Subjective Experience and its Objective ground. Which allows for communication and a host of experiences that happen constantly. That's why we need sleep. But I would rather do it than worry about not sleeping, he said; reflecting on what needs to get done before turning in. Rockin' Chair.
