Nice guide, just a few points from my experience: - I usually clear all adjacent tiles with the bear and two warriors untill the bear is dead. He eats a lot and useless untill 200 fame if you clear the tiles to reduce the attacks. - Try to scout the center of the map asap if the map special victory is available to get that 50 fame bonus. So I'm bying the second bear during the feasts in 801 AD and clearing the path to the enemy with him tanking. - In the rush build it might be even better to go for warriors instead of the shield bearers just because they have more attack. Shield bearers are better in the late game for the long fights. - If you get the Shipbuilding, you might not need the second gold production building. The bonus gold also comes from ruins and the shipwreck, and usually you have at least one of these.
Hey man thanks for these intersting points, even if have to disagree in some points (or actually really just 1 point ;)) they're all really good thoughts ;) I actually love your first idea with killing the bear for the time until 200, it can actually cause some problems with attacking stuff that could be killed by the bear, but i think the reduced food consumption over such a long time window should be enough for that ;) Center scouting is always a oppertunity! But i don't really like to go for it, because you always sacrafice a lot of your eco to get there, and if your spawn is just bad, you will invest all that villager time without even getting the 50Fame. So it's not wrong to go for the mid (as stag i always do it) but it's a RNG element you don't need to go for, and i actually like to cut down the RNG elements in my builds as far as possible. That's why i didn'went for the shipwreck too, what made the rush seem veeery slow and weak, when in reality, it's one the stronger builds in northgard. The warrior point is the one i would need to disagree, because the "Shield Mastery" Lore, in combination with the upgraded shield bearers, just makes em the viking equivalent of a tank :D really it's crazy. If you want more dmg on your shield bearers i would suggest upgrading a few shield bearer camps. It helps more then most players think, because most players will think that Warriors with 10+8 dmg will do 18dmg to other units, what is not actually true. But upgrading a warcamp/shieldbearer camp/axethrower camp will actually give every hit of your units +1 dmg. If you really want to know all the details about upgrades of units and basically anything you can even know in northgard, i would recommend "The Vikings Almanac" made by Skirlasvoud (Huge credits to him) A mad men when it comes to the mechanics and again basically everything you can possibly know in northgard. Just check it out on steam, i know it's a lot, but its quite comfortable to really use as an almanac, even know that reading through it shouldn't be to bad for anyone ;) (It's writte very readable imo) steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=971470053
Yeah I know about the damage mechanics, I wanted to say that when you rush, the resistance bonus of shieldbearers is rarely needed, so I would trade it off for 3 more damage to kill the villagers faster. Not to mention that if you upgrade them, the charge can help when the uponent is trying to kite you. If you face a strong oponent that has an equal army and/or towers, the shield bearers are obviously superior.
I actually gotta say that the resistance bonus helped me a lot in early rushes because, you will do less dmg thats right but everything else will do less dmg too, so villagers have big problems kill a upgraded shield bearer with shield mastery (i have 0 numbers to actually prove that). I really gotta admit i can't really explain why because there are just so many small things i don't really wanna list right here because they seem so odd right now (like a few months ago it were very common to convert all villagers to hunters to defend. They were able to defend against huge groups of axe thowers and warriors, but the shield bearer buff just killed it), but if i'm bear clan and i can get better shield bearers then any other clan can have, for the same price like a warrior, i'll always go for that Shield bearer ^^. But it's a thing you can decide for yourself i guess, i tried every of the unit compositions out for myself and can to the conclusion that the shield bearer are working best for me.
i deffinatly have to say my preference is shield bearers with bear clan all the way... MTandi might be right on the units damage figures but in real time gameplay and for the purposes of a rush, all my games benefited more from having shield bearers to warriors in this instance. :-)
Yeah was saying, it might have helped to push the scouts, "just a little bit more" in the beggining and then you actually mentioned it yourself around 19 minutes in... :-) Always love the bear for clearing, its just soo powerful, especially with 2 warriors, you can clear just about everything up to 2/3 tiles out quite easy
The bear were really my savior after the big combat patch. I really struggled to get into the game, with the new more aggressive tiles, but after playing bear for a few games i more and more got into the new game style so
Why did you go for a farm when there was a fish pond in the same zone? Fishing doesn't lose efficiency in the Winter, and the Bear makes it produce more food. What's the advantage of the farm?
Yes, because the unupgraded fisherman will have the same food production as a normal villager, but their production won't drop in the winter. The production of farmers will be at 5 in the summer and 3 in the winter, so since there are 3 winter and 9 summer months, that the farm is gonna pay off a lot more, the fishermen are more like a lategame option of food for me, because you can upgrade the building and the tools, and you couldn't do that with normal villagers. btw: Hunters production is 4,5 in summer and 3,6 or 3,7ish in the winter (i don't know to exactly right now :P)
Is there a newer version of this build strat? Does this still work the same after 2 years of patches? I noticed some differences like the bear costing 75 food think now it only costs 40 koins. I just started playing this game so I'm a bit behind looking for good early start builds and been experimenting with Bear.
There are definitly a lot of things that changed since the last years, for example it doesn't make any sense anymore to put vils on the same tile like a silo, while it still makes sense to put them on the same tile as the bear or maisden after you reached the 200 fame. In general the build should still be possible, while this is a quite situational one and if you're jsut starting into the game i would rather try to with the more standard build, what is also an older video, but is way closer to the build i would playing these days. th-cam.com/video/4epQfFw0V6A/w-d-xo.html
Yo Crazy Dentist, I've hung out with german dudes and they are awesome, especially when I tell them: "Ich habe eine kleine Schwanz in mein hosen, und Rammstein ist ganz super!" xD
Yo thats great man ;) They seem to be really nice! and actually one of the most common german sentences :D Just tell it to anyone, and you will make friends in germany very fast :D
4:05 Thats so annoying when the bear can hit the second wolf without even moving, and yet he runs around getting the warrior hurt. That f****d up my happiness so many times.
Yeah it's really annoying, i try to have both warriors picked and micro them away for every wolf dying so it doesn't happen (what still doesn't work very good)
You mean explaining at the start what the general goal of the build is at the start? Because i think i tried to at least explain all of my actions as good as i could.
Just discovered this wonderful game, huge thanks for the great content!:)

Healers rece-ve bonus from Silo in contraversion to vilagers, so definitely worth to build one Hut in Food tile
Thanks! glad you came through from my request
Not a problem ;) I hope you enjoy it!

shield maiden is quite powerful too...! :-)
Yeah, the procuction bonus of them both helpes me to win games i shouldn't have won ;)

Hey Crazy Dentist, how to open improve tools on the side panel?
Hey, you got to build the forge now, this were how it once used to work, before the forge and relics were added to the game.
Is there a reason you waited to get the fields, rather than taking the fish in your first forest tile?
Yes, because the unupgraded fisherman will have the same food production as a normal villager, but their production won't drop in the winter.

@@CrazyDentist could you maybe make a newer version of this guide :D?
I am getting owned by my friends in this game and now I want to get better ^^

watching this now how noob people are 2 years ago xD
is there any good atual content?
this is not a rush, year 800 to 801 is a rush
You're gonna have a great time in Duels ;)
i wish you would explain why you're doing all this, because i dont understand shit, all i can do i copy what you did
You mean explaining at the start what the general goal of the build is at the start? Because i think i tried to at least explain all of my actions as good as i could.
Yeah what the goal is, and how youre managing eco to acheive it, i see you jungling with workers but i dont know why and how to jungle with em myself.
i feel its a good video for experienced players, but for me having a 15/20 hours in i dont understand the
I'll try to keep more focus on that in the Videos i plan to do in the future, thanks for your feedback! :)
thanks man, i look foward to it
