I woke up to find out the UK has been voted the 2nd most miserable place on earth, so I came to Birmingham for a lovely day out. However that was short lived when I stumbled across England's dirtiest neighbourhood....I escaped immediately. A new journey then began to a new exciting country and one I have never visited! That was also short lived as I was dragged to one of the most chaotic places on earth.

I traveled to the UK from Ireland recently and was shocked by the cost of train tickets, Much higher in price than we pay.
I live near Brighton which is a hour journey from London by train costs £20 for a day out to London but would cost 30 if i left after 10 in morning but yes the prices for trains are a joke but its quicker at getting to places then buses

I live in Nottingham. In 2006 I dated a girl from Southampton. A weekend return ticket to Southampton cost £320. I flew to Dubai and back that same year on Virgin Atlantic for the same price. Not only were the prices astronomical the service was terrible. Leaving Southampton at 2pm Sunday got me home for 6am Monday when I need to be at work at 9. The UK is a joke.

Aussie here. I was in England a couple of months ago and couldn't believe how expensive things were, particularly trains. They say that Australia's expensive, but it's cheap by comparison.

It's cheaper to fly to Spain than it is to take the train for a journey over 3 hours. One man trying to get home to London from Scotland or the North of England flew to Spain and then flew to London and saved money as the train fare was so expensive.

In the last year I’ve been to Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Spain and all spotless, they have people cleaning up all hours of the day - here in the UK it is backward as hell - heading towards becoming a 3rd world country!

I think it has to do with economic status in my opinion if you live upper mid class or higher yeah you'll not like India but if you're lower mid class or more you'll probably enjoy it since you're used to a more grounded environment I'm upper mid class and looking at this clip and other stuff I've seen I'm not going to enjoy India only the Taj Mahal and the cities are the only spots I will enjoy also I'm very claustrophobic so no thank you

Fly tipping is usually carried out by house clearance firms than by individuals. Their customers are unaware their old unwanted furniture and belongings have been fly tipped until council inspectors traced them and informed them. The house clearance firms then get massively fined and then their license taken away if they are licensed.

Public transport prices in the UK are infamous, they are totally scandalous. The UK government would better serve the people by focusing on the ordinary people rather than playing geopolitical games that London can no longer afford.

UKs trash sitch is really bad, there’s days when they don’t even pick up for a whole 2 weeks! Like wtf is the point of paying council tax in full when basic sanitation isn’t included, unless you’re in the town/city centre.
Trains were cheap until they privatised them. Used to go to London, 120 miles away, for about £2 back in the 80's
British Rail was being run down deliberately in the 80s so people would welcome privatisation. But, I would rather have the cheaper and more basic service that British Rail provided than the overpriced service with fancy gizmos that the privatised train operating companies provide. The main railway stations now look like shopping malls with somr people going there to shop and eat not catch a train. There were more frequent trains, more leg room and more carriages per train before it was privatised. Who cares if the on board refreshments were awful. Just bring your own.
To be fair, you can visit any decent sized city and find filthy sections.

Train tickets in the UK are just simply outrageous. How can it possibly cost 165 quid for them to run the service (other than to pay dividends to their investors! 🙂) . Could get a taxi to plymouth for that! And then in the same breath you get a flight for only 22 quid (and assume they make a profit) so something is definitely messed up! I flew from london to budapest and it was 80 quid each way yet the 2 hour train to heathrow was 85 quid!
i just converted 165 quid to dollors, that like $210, thats robbery!!!!

Now it is all about profits and dividends and the public have no other choice but to drive, use buses or pay up the extortionate fare. This is a main reason why no one holidays in the UK as you can just fly to Spain instead of going to a run down town. I was looking yesterday and I can fly to Turkey for £60 which is a third of the price and a 4 hour flight. The numbers just don't add up there has to be some fat cats who are getting very rich over this! If there are two or more of you it is cheaper to drive. Birmingham has had a negative image since the industrial revolution. It was built on heavy industry, so it historically had a lot of pollution. Tourists don't go there, and you don't meet that many people from there because unlike say Liverpool, Birmingham has always had at least some jobs, so people from there don't feel the need to move away as much.
I shared the usual negative view of Birmingham until few years ago when I went there to watch cricket and stayed for a few days. I must admit I was surprised to discover that I quite liked it. Like most of the rest of the UK, it's now suffering very visibly from decades of ideologically driven government policies aimed at 'shrinking the state,' which in practice simply involves the government washing its hands of responsibility for things and eroding the trappings of civilisation, all to put an ever increasing share of the country's wealth into the hands of the rich. Until people start to realise this instead of blaming everything on foreigners and immigration, living standards for middle and working class people are going to carry on stagnating or falling. People will get more and more miserable too.

In the UK, we pay idiotic train fares, taxed till we bleed. What I would like to know is where all the money is going. We pay through the nose for everything. I can't even ride my bike due to the potholes; it's disgusting. Those councillors should be put in jail, but instead, they are lining their pockets with our money.

People leave things like that out because they were supposed to be collected by the council for free. Before you had to pay £10 for collection. They are supposed to be in bags and put out neatly for the specified day.
