I did a similar technique in first grade, back in the sixties. We made leatherlike Native American dresses and pants. It was a wonderful learning experience even it wasn't quite the same as the real thing.

Oh yes I remember using a similar technique to make wrapping paper. I also did a great paper where I added rose buds pieces from my roses.

This is so fun. I do a similar technique using glycerine and brown kraft paper to make faux leather.

This makes me think of the newspaper we used as toilet paper on the farm. Without olive oil we would scrunch up the newspaper to make it use able. Everything wad black when you were done. Lol. Thank the good lord we no longer have to live this way. This was more than 50 years ago.

Now I know what to do with the set of Encyclopedia Britannica! I refer to it as my husband’s dowry when we got married. Before I meet him, when he was in college in the 70’s, he saved up to buy them. A great investment that we used a lot with the kids. But now I can’t bear to get rid of them.
    Thank you!!

Would baby oil work? The only oils we use here are tallow, bacon fat, butter and lard and I don’t want them so smell that yummy lol.
