Canonisation of Oscar Romero

Oscar Romero, the archbishop who was martyred while celebrating Mass in El Salvador in 1980, became a saint in a ceremony at the Vatican on 14 October. He is a patron of Caritas Internationalis.

Romero did not need to pass any "miracle" tests, he was worthy of sainthood already, i dont even belive in god but Romero was a true man of god.

I was a 7yr old child when archbishop Romero was assassinated. I remember the sadness in my family and in our community. It was as if a dark and cold eclipse had suddenly descended upon the landscape. The air felt still and the birds stopped chirping on that day. After his death, hell descended on all of El Salvador. The people’s champion was no longer with us.
