You hit the nail on the head. What you are all doing is by every measure of the term " THEATER" . That's what a Haunt is . A large scale theatrical production. Nearly every point that you so well made...are ALL production techniques also used in Theater and film. If someone wishes to enhance their skills , then study theatrical techniques, film techniques, effects , and Magical effects. YES , many Magicians use props , and techniques that can easily be incorporated into a haunt. and especially old school effects. There are a TON of extremely effective techniques from as far back as the late 19th century and before that have been utilized by haunts through the years and because they are not common anymore, to today's audience are all new again . They will never see it coming . Go Look up the term "Peppers Ghost" . It is a technique used to make remarkable transformations, and ghosts appear seemingly out of No Where. It has been used for years by Disney. and requires only a pane of glass, a light on a dimmer , an actor and some creativity.
Can you do a video on your walls? How it’s held together, broken down, and stored. I’ve done the tarps and foam boards and you’re right, those don’t last or get damaged.
I’ve been watching you for a really long time and you’ve really inspired me to do this type of stuff. Thank you for the tips. I’ll be looking forward to them once September comes, but I usually go shopping around August.
I'm 10 years old and have been doing haunts for about 2 years. I own 23 animatronics and my audiance LOVES jumpscare props such as the jumping spider and the hauntruss. This video really helped me out.
Ohhhh i have a memerable prop this year ... adding not 1 not 2 but 4 flame jetts in the display this year every year oure display got the best reactions as i use DMX stage lights fog low fog and a jett that we wana set up like a normal one this year blasting onto the street atmosfear fx on a big fabric screen on the other end of the street and then 4 flame machines two wil be up high on top of the speakers (bolted to a wooden board thats bolted on the fly points of the speaker and two wil be in the middle on a flight case oh and i use pure white on my dmx lights in a random strobe together with a thunder sound effect
These are super awesome Haunt Tips. I really enjoy watching your Haunts every year, its like a tradition now! Great video Brick Thunder, I will make sure to use your tips thank you! 🎃
Thanks for the helpful tips, last year was one of our best years just because of lighting and this upcoming year im building an entire barn facade so what lighting would you recomend? for the farm i’m only using two props; the BeastCraft Infected Swamp Monster and the Pumpkin Guardian of the Grave.
Thank you for the tip! Brick Thunder. I’m planning on making a spooky mansion for Halloween, it going to be really scary, I have my family to help me with this. Thank Brick Thunder and have a good day. Wish we can meet each other in person 👻🎃
Hey what if you have a lot of props and everything to make a decent first haunt but not enough space for a lot of different things my parents wouldn’t let people go into the back yard for now (I personally have a maximum of 150ft for a walk through until my parents let people go through the back yard
great practical advice, I'd say even pro haunts have a take away in what you shared, great video. look forward to see what the next stage of haunting has in-store for you, we will have to make a trip to Chicago and check out the new Haunt
Great tips! I don't own any animatronics but would love to add one to my graveyard. What do you recommend? I was thinking of a grave digger/ grounds keeper but where is the best place to get it?
I would recommend a jumping spider for a first prop. It is a fast jumpscare and has a decent price. Also, it looks awkward if you only have one life size prop, so maybe start with small ones and work your way up.
I have a question. My family decorates our house every year. We don’t get many people coming to our house and I think it’s because we turn our porch light off. Most people assume you aren’t home. We added a purple porch light to leave on last year, and we still didn’t get many people. Any suggestions?
Great idea for a video! We will be watching this one. Always great to hear tips for home haunters!
