Just get a 1/8th inch plywood to put under the mattress, which will help with the slats. For your stove, get one of those heat fans to move heat around the tent. Love your setup.
Hey Mav, .. see that circle on top of the wood stove? If you take that out and put the pot/pan over the hole it heats the pan/pot more... Thats why that circle plate/hole is there. 😉
Hey Maverick, that was a fun video I love that tent and now you have a comfortable bed in your tent 🏕️ Hey Maverick, that was a fun video I love that tent and now you have a comfortable bed in your tent. Thanks for sharing. Be safe out there.♥️🙏👍😎
I have that same stove. The 2 circles are part of the stove and don't come off. And now the EPA requires a baffle that is at the top of the stove to reburn the gases. It's keeps the stove from being efficient like the old ones. I took mine out and it works great now. And added the damper like Mav did.
Wow, great tent. I’m envious and put it on my Dream List. Ideas. For the floor how about those interlocking pads you put down when ice fishing. For lanterns, get solar lamps and hang them in the trees during the day. Those square ones used in camping. You need a small low camping table near stove-- it will help with cooking. A whole box spring? Maybe not. Cardboard under the mattress & you won’t feel the metal slats.
That was such a fun video! We have a wall tent and just love it. It's so nice to be toasty warm inside with the wood stove while it's snowing and/or freezing outside. We bought the padded puzzle floor mats to help insulate from the cold coming up from the ground. Your mattress might just need to be in some warm air for a few hours to puff up all the way. Fun set up though! Excited to see more videos on your tent.
An update to the tent and a nice place to sleep more comfy, makes it more enjoyable and you would want to visit more often too. Love it bro. Since you already have the base made of wood why not just make a wooden table too that becomes a permanent part of the setup as well, that way you have a nice place to cut instead of on the foam plate.
When I renovated my camper I bought one of those platform bed frames with no need for a box spring and a memory foam mattress all from Walmart. It’s really comfortable and works well.
Mav, please don’t cut and use the inside of your thigh as a rest. One slip and you are gone. Main arteries don’t give you a second chance. Love ya kiddo!
I think the message is great but calling a 28 1/2 year old grown ass man Kiddo is condescending. Save for his parents or grandparents for whom he may always be their “baby” we should all give him the respect of treating him like the adult he is.
Hi Mav, a saw a couple of things that I suggest you give a try and see if your stove gets warmer for cooking on. Try and use wood that is from fallen trees, or has been cut for a while so that it has dried it will burn hotter. For your beef stew, I would have put browned off the meat, put aside while you soften the onion, add back in the beef and your garlic, add your stock, bring to the boil, then add your veg in stages, the veg that takes the longest to cook goes in first. (This will also not drop the temperature of the stew too far) and lastly use cornstarch rather than all purpose flour to thicken the stew it cooks out quicker. Love your tent in the woods.
I have that exact bed frame and while it didn’t require a box spring, my mattress kept feeling like it was pushing through the slats. I ordered a “bunkie board” off Amazon and it helped a lot.
Great tent!! How about an 8x10 or 10x12 area rug for under the bed and around it a bit. You can always check a carpet store for oops rugs. That tent has endless possibilities!! 😊
Home Depot has indoor outdoor/boat.. cheap carpet on a 12' roll....cut to size needed...its very durable....cover those breezy cracks in the floor ... love your setup 🙌🙌🙌
Fun watching you winter camp in your canvas tent! Actually had an impromptu over night camp in th3 snow with friends this weekend up in Pecos NM! ❤❄️❄️❄️
Put the wood rack right next to the stove. It’ll dry out the wood and burn much better.also get an eco fan to put on top of the stove to help move the heat around.
There really is such a limited market for really good outdoor wear it's better than having just one choice and I appreciate you. And I have that exact bed frame without box springs, it is the taller up off the floor though so I can stuff stuff under and it's just awesome.
A role of outdoor carpet would do wonders for your floor to keep the breeze out. If the bars of the bed keep being a problem, a piece of plywood could help. I truly enjoy watching your videos. Keep on truckin!!
I think long term you'll find a twin bed may work better and give you much more floor space. Adding one or even two more white tables will help you with counterspace for cooking a lot. An ottoman can be a good looking storage option. You can also try a clear closet behind the door shoe holder for storing small items.
Love this video! As a fellow Minnesotan, I can say that seeing the snow fly a week or so ago was glorious! Thanks for making my weekend complete with your video. Cheers!
Love the videos! when I need more heat to cook I remove the round cast iron disk on the wood stove and put the pan directly on the flame to speed it up.
Maybe worth looking into some coir matting on your floor to reduce the floor drafting. Off cut of coconut matting at your entry exit point for getting the worst of the mud off your footware too. Great set up Mav, good fun vid. Food looked perfect for a winter nights camping 🏕🔥❄️
I love tent videos especially in winter. I'm subbed to a cpl other people that do them. Very relaxing lol. Id definitely look into a double sided axe/hatchet. Usually one sides more for chopping and ones for splitting also a sheet of 1/8th or 1/2 inch treated plywood under the mattress would work great for support and id hit some antique malls and find some old oil lanterns still in good shape they'll probably work better than the ones that you had leaking and getting a wood rack a little closer to the heater would make it easier to load and keep the wood dry
Loved watching the tent and all you were doing. Is there nothing to keep air, animals from coming under the edge where the wall and floor meet? I agree the foam floor you use for ice fishing would be great. even a wide/tall draft stopper along the edge might help. Sealing the space between the floor slats besides keeping the drafts out, would also help with small critters especially in the spring. Good luck, can't wait to see what you come up with. Thank you for the journey. See you next time.

Get a bunky board. Plywood will not allow ventilation, that means mold. Pretty good setup. Mike from Maine.

I'm was wondering when I would hear the coyotes searching out the stew... very nice set-up! Have a great day! 🙂
An Onite lightbulb or 2 with a USB charger block or 2 easily carried, safe and quite brite. I take two when I go camping.
I have that exact same platform frame and I never needed a box spring, then again my mattress is like a foot thick and memory foam. So at most a small piece of plywood or even a foam OSB board would probably be fine.
Mav I've been watching you for a couple of years now and just want to tell you I love your channel and I feel your one of the best roll models for are young kids to look up to keep doing what you do we need more good clean roll models out there
I want one of these tents and a wood stove for our property asap. I just want to be able to go out there and camp with my son when I want. I love this set up. ❤
Your camping is very attractive!🏕️
I was impressed.✨
I have not camped on the day of the snow☃️
I think that it is very difficult.😮
You are so tough, and smart.✨
Your video became the splendid hint.🔥
