Just get a 1/8th inch plywood to put under the mattress, which will help with the slats. For your stove, get one of those heat fans to move heat around the tent. Love your setup.
Hey Mav, .. see that circle on top of the wood stove? If you take that out and put the pot/pan over the hole it heats the pan/pot more... Thats why that circle plate/hole is there. 😉
Hey Maverick, that was a fun video I love that tent and now you have a comfortable bed in your tent 🏕️ Hey Maverick, that was a fun video I love that tent and now you have a comfortable bed in your tent. Thanks for sharing. Be safe out there.♥️🙏👍😎
I have that same stove. The 2 circles are part of the stove and don't come off. And now the EPA requires a baffle that is at the top of the stove to reburn the gases. It's keeps the stove from being efficient like the old ones. I took mine out and it works great now. And added the damper like Mav did.
Wow, great tent. I’m envious and put it on my Dream List. Ideas. For the floor how about those interlocking pads you put down when ice fishing. For lanterns, get solar lamps and hang them in the trees during the day. Those square ones used in camping. You need a small low camping table near stove-- it will help with cooking. A whole box spring? Maybe not. Cardboard under the mattress & you won’t feel the metal slats.
I went hunting in Wyoming with a guy who brought a tempurpedic bed roll and a tempurpedic pillow and both froze solid every day and took a lot of work to keep warm enough to use. We were in my 16 x 20 Montana Canvas wall tent on the ground with a foam floor and had the biggest cylinder stove cabelas makes. Problem was we would leave at 4:30 and start hiking and wouldn't back to camp till 7-8PM, then we would start getting the fire rolling and about 9 the tent would be 65-70 inside and his mattress and pillows would be ice blocks. We had to put Heater Buddies under the cot to get his bed warm enough to sleep and a couple nights he slept without a foam mattress on his cot. Hope you have better luck with your expanding bed.
Hi Mav, a saw a couple of things that I suggest you give a try and see if your stove gets warmer for cooking on. Try and use wood that is from fallen trees, or has been cut for a while so that it has dried it will burn hotter. For your beef stew, I would have put browned off the meat, put aside while you soften the onion, add back in the beef and your garlic, add your stock, bring to the boil, then add your veg in stages, the veg that takes the longest to cook goes in first. (This will also not drop the temperature of the stew too far) and lastly use cornstarch rather than all purpose flour to thicken the stew it cooks out quicker. Love your tent in the woods.
Mav, please don’t cut and use the inside of your thigh as a rest. One slip and you are gone. Main arteries don’t give you a second chance. Love ya kiddo!
I think the message is great but calling a 28 1/2 year old grown ass man Kiddo is condescending. Save for his parents or grandparents for whom he may always be their “baby” we should all give him the respect of treating him like the adult he is.
That was such a fun video! We have a wall tent and just love it. It's so nice to be toasty warm inside with the wood stove while it's snowing and/or freezing outside. We bought the padded puzzle floor mats to help insulate from the cold coming up from the ground. Your mattress might just need to be in some warm air for a few hours to puff up all the way. Fun set up though! Excited to see more videos on your tent.
I have that exact bed frame and while it didn’t require a box spring, my mattress kept feeling like it was pushing through the slats. I ordered a “bunkie board” off Amazon and it helped a lot.
An update to the tent and a nice place to sleep more comfy, makes it more enjoyable and you would want to visit more often too. Love it bro. Since you already have the base made of wood why not just make a wooden table too that becomes a permanent part of the setup as well, that way you have a nice place to cut instead of on the foam plate.
When I renovated my camper I bought one of those platform bed frames with no need for a box spring and a memory foam mattress all from Walmart. It’s really comfortable and works well.
I think long term you'll find a twin bed may work better and give you much more floor space. Adding one or even two more white tables will help you with counterspace for cooking a lot. An ottoman can be a good looking storage option. You can also try a clear closet behind the door shoe holder for storing small items.
Home Depot has indoor outdoor/boat.. cheap carpet on a 12' roll....cut to size needed...its very durable....cover those breezy cracks in the floor ... love your setup 🙌🙌🙌
Put the wood rack right next to the stove. It’ll dry out the wood and burn much better.also get an eco fan to put on top of the stove to help move the heat around.
There really is such a limited market for really good outdoor wear it's better than having just one choice and I appreciate you. And I have that exact bed frame without box springs, it is the taller up off the floor though so I can stuff stuff under and it's just awesome.
Always enjoy your videos, Mav! I'd say to put some cheap area rugs around the bed. You could probably even find some at thrift stores or salvage places, although I'd spray insecticide on anything from the thrift store first, then let it sit out for a couple days. Since they wouldn't be new, you wouldn't be blowing so much money when they get muddy and nasty. Indoor/outdoor rugs might even hose off. Either way. the area around your bed would stay warmer, and it wouldn't be so cold on the feet if you get up in the middle of the night to stoke the fire, or answer nature's call.
Id definitely look into a double sided axe/hatchet. Usually one sides more for chopping and ones for splitting also a sheet of 1/8th or 1/2 inch treated plywood under the mattress would work great for support and id hit some antique malls and find some old oil lanterns still in good shape they'll probably work better than the ones that you had leaking and getting a wood rack a little closer to the heater would make it easier to load and keep the wood dry

I'll bet the rosemary and Thyme made the stew smell amazing. I make Irish stew regularly, and if it's not too impertinent, I'd suggest browning the meat and taking it out, then adding the celery onions and carrots, (Mirepoix) and then tomato paste or powder. Hey mav just get some ply for the floor that will be the easiest way to cover up those spaces in the decking. You can all build a wall around the tent at 4foot to help keep the breeze out of the tent
I want one of these tents and a wood stove for our property asap. I just want to be able to go out there and camp with my son when I want. I love this set up. ❤

Your cast iron pot is soooo thick it absorbs the stoves heat and the pot radiates heat outward. You need a thick bottom stainless pot. Much lighter and the heat goes into the food.
Even if you don't insulate the deck maybe some of those Neoprene(?) tiles you put on the ice while ice-fishing makes waking and standing up a bit more palpable in the morning ;) Also i'd put something up behind your head to the side of the tent. Had my beard freeze to the side of the tent once. 0/10 Can not recommend ;) And maybe get one of those metal fans to move the hot air around. Great setup! Thanks for sharing.

Get a bunky board. Plywood will not allow ventilation, that means mold. Pretty good setup. Mike from Maine.
Put a finish on that board so moisture doesn’t accumulate! Will ruin the wood over time
Mice will love that mattress
I used plywood but then put commercial non-slip shower tiles between the mattress and the wood to allow airflow in a camper build I did.

Take the round thing ( can't remember what it's called) off the top and set the Dutch oven directly over the flame. Then when you get the beef browned the way you want, add the rest of your stuff and put the round thing back on and let it slowly cook. 😊
Wonder if the tent walls would make a good movie screen? Smart projector and movie night with popcorn made on the wood stove, thanks for sharing your adventures!
That sounds amazing
Always the worst part about camping is hauling all the supplies everyone thinks they need . Great to lighten the load when you can. Nice video
Get the big square foam tiles to put on the floor. Super comfy to walk on and great insulation. I use them in my tent all the time.
eating while watching your videos be life saving 🦾
Love you Mav one of the best channels on TH-cam!

You rock, Mav!
Dude I love your content please keeep on posting
4:49 the ole mystery mousecatool..I love it Mav!!
Mav that one doesn't require a box spring. I basically have the sameone with a 10 or 12 inch mattress. Works perfectly
Mac oughta build a log cabin out there. I have full confidence he could do it
You can always add about a 3 foot wall around the whole inside of the tent to make it more sturdy and help keep some warmth in.
For the love of god PLEASE just get an oven mitt and bring a better knife out there. The table is chaos I got anxiety watching you cut on that table with a pocket knife
It’s called survival
Love and peace from Australia as always Mav 🦘😘
MAV love to watch you explain things !!! You are so COOL !!! Am Glad we got you in OUR FUTURE to Lead us through things !!! KEEP ON TRUCKEN!!!
Love the videos! when I need more heat to cook I remove the round cast iron disk on the wood stove and put the pan directly on the flame to speed it up.
Another great video...
Thank you Mav
Nice tent set up Mav looks cozy the bed was a nice addition put a sheet of plywood under mattress may help, to cook fast take one of the circle things off then place the pot ( we did that at a cabin we were at it worked efficient. Great video . Ontario , Canada
I really think Mice 🐁 are going to eat the bed if you dont store it . I know its a a pain to bring back and forth, but I have a good feeling they're going to take it as nest material.
Hey mav just get some ply for the floor that will be the easiest way to cover up those spaces in the decking. You can all build a wall around the tent at 4foot to help keep the breeze out of the tent
Those mattresses you’re supposed to let cure for atleast 24 hours before using it. Hope it wasn’t horrible.
I bought that exact bed, its cheap but a really good bed. Amazing how you went from that rolled up mattress to what it is now.

I want one of these tents and a wood stove for our property asap. I just want to be able to go out there and camp with my son when I want. I love this set up. ❤
Your camping is very attractive!🏕️
I was impressed.✨
I have not camped on the day of the snow☃️
I think that it is very difficult.😮
You are so tough, and smart.✨
Your video became the splendid hint.🔥
It will update my camping.☺️
Thank you for your wonderful activity.🇯🇵
Yup! Loved the whole video as always Mav. Epic night at the tent. See you next time.💛🌴🌵🐟🐬🏖️👍
Your cast iron pot is soooo thick it absorbs the stoves heat and the pot radiates heat outward.
As someone mentioned: Plywood for the bed. 😊 thanks for sharing.. the ste2 looked great 👍
Great Video Mav🙌🙌
