- Untill FS2020 released I am still enjoying X-Plane 11 realism at its best! Do you think X-Plane and P3D have future after FS2020 comes out?
In this video you will see beautiful flight from Thessaloniki to Leeds, UK with the best addons currently available for X-Plane 11 (ORBX, FlyTampa, IXEG)! This time I am piloting Boeing 737-300 Jet2 Airlines. I personally love 737 Classic series so you can enjoy it with me!

The frame-rate of the simulation is really low in a few of the cockpit shots, yet the movement of the camera is still 60 FPS. There definitely are CPU related slowdowns going on.

@RPM Guy Ryanair doesn't even fly 777's because those planes are not built to land as hard as the 737-800 that is the only aircraft they operate and are much more expensive and just wouldn't make a tad bit of sense for a budget airline such as Ryanair to buy a jet as big as the 777
Well ,the MFS20 is a whole new level in so many different aspects and it represents the new era of flight simulation. For Xplane to compete they will have to release Xplane12 with a system similar to FS2020 where the whole world is modeled with internet maps and then procedural generated buildings etc.

If what you're after is a hyper-realistic flight model then yeah X-Plane is really solid, although we'll have to see how it compares to FS2020. For me the whole fun of flying (or pretending to fly, as it were) is getting to look down on the world from above. I don't see what that has to do how experienced one is at flying virtual planes.
@OP They would have to partner with Google or someone to pull that off. FS2020 can do it because it's being made by Microsoft who have the resources to do something on that scale, the X-Plane devs can't really pull that off by themselves.

Mr Skeltal fs2020 is a 150gb standard so you may need to hold on to them
@@georgetomlinson9922 that's just the designated space, the program itself inherits less than that.
It's the lack of materials and PBR more than the textures that is off. You can have a gazillion GB of textures but it will still look badly without current rendering techniques like reflections, global illumination and such.
showing flaws that even mods can't iron out (buses driving through barriers etc.) that for some would ruin the "immersion" is greatly appreciated and I absolutely respect that!

100% the end of P3D because MSFS2020 is the spiritual successor to that platform. But XP11 stands strong with its excellent flight model, and superb performance. I think the X-Plane franchise has a healthy future.

Question is how good the flight model of FS2020 is going to be compared to X-Plane. X-Plane could be slightly better, they could be on par, or FS2020 could be slightly better (e.g. the spiral scene they uploaed). Its safe to say however that they'll be close. Their USP with the far more advanced flight model is definitly gone.

Lockheed Martin is a contractor for the US air force, providing them with training simulators. It's why they had a big thing about VR - Prepar3D won't even be competing with FS2020.

@@guitarguy483 Right, but it is all included, it's not 2 Petabytes of 3rd party addons. That 400GB in XPlane 11 is 3rd party doing the job of the developers for them. While MSFS will have only 80 high fidelity at launch, that is way more than Xplane launched with, and probably more than is 3rd party available. Those that fly simulators will stay with what makes them happy, me, I am still using P3Dv3.4, but been flying DCS world more lately, and I have FSX:SE installed as well. When MSFS launches it will most likely be FSX and P3D that get removed from my hard drive, and moved to the external backup drive.

FS2020 is only a 160 GB install, the rest of the data is streamed in because it relies on a bunch of different api’s.

I'm still playing it and I own msfs2020.im not ready to let xplane 11 go just yet , msfs2020 ain't in tbe clear yet . Not untill they release vr as they promised . So till then still gona enjoy xplane 11 which I really do enjoy for all it's beauty .

@Fernando García salazar No sorry that's rubbish, at 5:05 you can see the main fan (it's not a "cooler" it's the main bypass fan which provides a good deal of the actual thrust in modern engines) is stationary which is total crap.

X-plane 11 during startup indicates that a that there is a professional package x-plane 11. Therefore that package has been awarded an FAA suitable for flight training for its realism. Will MS2020 receive that milestone? Realism? Cesna 172. Its stiil difficult to take off in a 172 in xplane due to prop wash centrifugal force which drives you to the left. That is an inherent fact with the actual C172 without corrective action of the rudder pedals. There are other ways as well without dismantling that feature. All it seems to me so far, everybody talks of the eye candy. I will always have a love for x-plane.

Actually that is not correct. The only home simulator to ever be authorized for use for guided training for IFR was FSX, and that was only as part of training under the guidance of an instructor. It was the only one for about a year then it was revoked. Now the only home training system that can be used for actually instruction time is the Redbird Simulators, and those are about $5k or so each. Xplane has never been approved for use for instruction. In fact the only simulated aircraft that have been approved for such training, are those made by A2A simulations, and those were made for the Redbird Piper Cub and Cessna 172 sims, and they made T-38 sims and AT-6 Texan II sims for the USAF. Their aircraft are THE bar for GA and warbird systems modeling, and guess where their aircraft are located? FSX/P3D, so your XPlane argument is completely incorrect, as the most realistic planes for any home simulator are for FSX and P3D.

there are many thigns that may make Xplane and P3D survive:
1. If it will be a subscription, Xplane and P3D will necessarily survive
2. The amount of Add-ons: Xplane and P3D are full of addons! there may be people who are not ready to change Software, there are a lot of people who spent a lot on both sims.
3. OK, THEY ARLEADY SAID THAT HAVE A TEAM OF DEVS FROM OTHER SIMS THAT ARE WORKING ON AIRCRAFTS BUT, if they want to launch the sim with the payware addons ready, we will see FS2020 is 2021. If they won't do that, it will be quite useless for serious simmers, probably common people will like to find their hosue and crash in it. But for Airliners Pilots....
I've been a tester and there are many things i don't like (ok the scenery is amazing and i confess i flew near my home airport to find my house), but the a320 have many bad things (the tilted panel makes a320 fans, like me, vomit) but i cannot say anything due to NDA

LOL.. around 2:25, the Swiss Port bus drives through some fencing.. That's typical for X-Plane, just for testing I taxied aircraft through a terminal building and no damage was done to the aircraft or the terminal. I've also seen instances where I was on final approaching the runway threshold, ahead of me there were tall trees that would not normally be there, and the aircraft flew right through them.
That is also a feature of at least one of the old MS Flight Sim models.
I hope in the New MFS2020 this will not be possible anymore. Because in Others Games, you cant Drive through Buildings😂
@@eliass.4743 Microsoft's FSX had the ability to detect objects in the air and on the ground, including airport vehicles, and collided with whatever aircraft you happen to be in if you were not watching, so I suspect that'll also be in FS 2020.

I think X-Plane will die because of people like me, who got bored of installing many addons, that the other game has originally. For instance, I rather buy another sim that has such a beautiful scenery built in, instead of downloading loads of Ortho tiles. I'll buy premium deluxe when it gets discounted on steam.

@@pharezknights5467 I'm talking about addons that could have been implemented originally in X-Plane too. E.g. Nice built-in weather, scenery, atc... Of course, sims will always have addons, but I hate downloading the ones that I mentioned, especially when they mess up the whole sim.

@@Kazoda but after seeing fs2020 over an over i am starting to see some bad stuff just as all sims, like bing satellite picture and a 3d runway, makes it look so off REX should fix that, and x plane to me does a better tarrain autogen fs2020 trees and water looks very good but the mountain and gradient isn't there, like cliffs compare to the real thing hopefully addons will help it.

Unfortunately MSFS doesn’t offer the realism to support realistic airliners. The PMDG 737 has been delayed to the end of 2021 for the sim to be made more realistic
I bought X-Plane 11 in August 2019 and my main disappointment with it is its quirky behavior and the number of bugs it has, which is way too many. 400 GB is a LOT of mods and I'm not surprised at the amount of storage space your mods have taken. I don't have that many mods but I can tell you that Laminar Research is notorious for creating more bugs in the simulator with their updates, they also tend to break some of the mods and add-ons. Seems like I have spent a lot more time trying to figure out what's causing the problems with the simulator than flying.
that's exactly why in game marketplace is a good idea, if Microsoft put basic standard on how 3rd party deliver their add ons into the game, it won't feel like Moddibg troubleshooting eahh time you want to install something new you've just bought.
@@MuhammadKharismawan Laminar Research developed X-Plane for multiple platforms so with their small staff they can't take into consideration how changes they make in X-Plane would affect every add-on since there are thousands of them. I haven't had too problems with 3rd party add-on I installed in FSX, I wish I can say the same about X-Plane 11 though.

I completely agree with you! The new flight simulator 2020 is going to be really good, but laminar, and X- Plane.. are also very good. At what they do, that zebo 737 is absolutely stunning, and flies great.
@@gemster18 The problem is that XP development will halt and what you have now is basically going to be frozen in time for XP while FS development will continue at an increasing rate. It's like trying to catch up to a bullet train that's already miles ahead in a Ford Fiesta while running out of gas and the train is accelerating. It's a losing battle. Addon developers are already stopping development for XP - PMDG, for example, just announced that. Fewer users means fewer addons. Fewer addons means even less users, it's a death spiral. So take a look at the gap that there is already between XP and FS2020 and imagine what it will be like in a year. Even if Laminar goes full speed competing with FS with their 20 person team and revenue dropping like a rock, they will continue to fall behind further and further from FS as it's resources and development team will continue developing it further at a much faster pace.

@@MCPhantomX nope its not only the glitches. alot of planes do not function properly and alot of buttons are inop. the a320 in fs2020 is way worse compared to fslabs a320 in fsx/p3d and toliss airbus in xplane. the 787 in fs2020 is also hideous.

Zibo didn’t have to build the plane from scratch. He already had a 80% complete build of the 737-800 provided by laminar.
Because it is basicly a useless feature. Plane won´t fly better, flight deck doesn´t look better, important systems won´t be more accurate.
What everybody forget is that when X-plane 11 was launched, people were generally on Intel duo 2.8 GHz processors with integrated GPU's, and the best of the (high)end-user computers was quad-core 3.2's with a 4 GB dedicated graphics-card....
Today (and what MSFS "got to work with") most people have at least quad-core 4.2 GHz with an 8 GB dedicated GPU, with the best available consumer-computer having supercooled 16-core 5.0 GHz machines with a 16-24 GB GPU (< admittedly I may exaggerate a bit here, but this is what is just on the other side of the horizon...).
Or in other words; X-plane/Laminar has the same new "headroom" available for XP12 (< plus the one created by shifting to Vulkan), and I really look forward to see how they will spend it....
-XP11 was such a great step forward from XP10, and XP12 will at least step up equally much....
Another thing is, the shift to Vulkan was a huge job, and to get money in to spend on developing it, I have always been thinking that they should have made thát XP12.
-However, as Austin explained it, they had promised it to be part of the XP11 run, so nobody at Laminar even considered XP12 before Vulkan was fully implemented into XP11, and People will NOT get thát kind of loyalty towards the customers from "The devil's firm"....
XP12 will be absolutely beautiful, quite probably MSFS will have a few good things going for it, but XP12 will at least have the same.
-For instance is an in real time computed flight-model the core expertise of the Laminar team, and building a high-end interactive weather machine a'la the MSFS 2020 one, will be left-hand work to them.
Any way, all this just to say that putting up a comparison like these "xp vs msfs" videos will not be relevant until XP12 is here, thet are as fan-boy'ish as it get....
And an XP12 announcement is probably not far away, considering that Laminar managed to shift to Vulkan in about 3 months (with the betas of course running a bit longer than thát), ie. they are at the top of their game/as sharp as ever.
-They WILL respond to MSFS 2020 in the strongest possible way, and they WILL outlive this MSFS release, as they have so many times through the history of flightsimming....
Bjarke Strøm laminar will not be able to keep up. it’s simply impossible to do so coming up against Microsoft.

I own booth games, and I will say FS2020 is all visuals, X-Plane still has a better simulation. A common complaint in the original FSX was the planes feel like your driving them on a road rather than flying them in 3-dimensional air space. While this has improved in the new FS2020 there are still limitations as the planes tend to 'act weird' on the final approach you'll hear a ton of streamers talk about it and point it out. When I land in x-plane i feel the landing gear compressing against the runway, it's not so stiff and lifelessly portrayed as in fs2020 (btw there is landing gear compression but you don't feel it) In x plane I feel that sinking in feeling when an airliner touches down firmly and the suspensions of the landing gear working as it speeds down the runway. While in the air in xplane it feels more real how the wings are simulated as opposed to fs2020 because of the wing flex. Imagine tying a string between 2 tables and pressing your dumb in the middle of the strings. this is the same force the wings of a plane should feel from the body of the plane which is not simulated in fs2020. I expect to see major patches, also including new features, a major one is flight replay which is not available.
I don't think X-Plane or P3D will ever die, they might be put aside or upgraded to match MSFS2020 or better, but won't die. MSFSX came out in 2006 or around about that time, it's 2021 now and MSFSX is still going, that's an impressive 15 years and many people, including myself still play it. So yeah, X-Plane and P3D might have some catching up to do to get to the same sort of level as MSFS2020, and I believe with the success of MSFSX these Flight Simulators are sure to be around for the foreseeable future... until something better comes along.
I mean, u need 400gb of mods to make it look real, FS2020 is going to be a gamechanger in that aspect and they cant compete versus Microsoft tbh. Good video btw :D
