Join me on my motorcycle trip from New York City to Cape Breton National Park in Nova Scotia, Canada. I am in some way recreating a trip that my dad took from Massachusetts to Nova Scotia during the 1980s on his Kawasaki. I am fascinated by the responses I’ve gotten to the question “How did you get into motorcycling?”, so I explore that a bit in this video.
I filmed this solo on 3 cameras: a Fujilfilm XT-4, DJI Osmo Action 3, and DJI Mini 3 Pro.

My father was a military motorcycle police in world war two, i was around ten years old when he started to teach me slow manuvers on a old triumph 250 tiger cub. Im 69 its in my blood , deep down in my soul . I may go a few years without the fever hitting me hard, but it always returns. It hit me about three months ago so i took the old electra glide i bought new 17 years ago out for a ride hadn't ridden it much in the last few years so took it to the dealership and told them to go through it and make any necessary repairs. I know this fever will be with me for a while, once it comes back it lasts several years. I never completely stop riding, just go short rides until this uncontrollable urge hits. Its a passion, a blessing really. To be able to hold on to something that gives pleasure ,and freedom to a weary soul. I'll ride until i die ,or cant get my leg over the saddle. Been binge watching channels like yours untill i get it back, seems to give this old rider a connection until my old friend returns. Thanks for sharing your ride.

I don't know how your video came up in my feed at this moment, but I want to thank you for sharing your journey with the world. It was exactly 10 years ago (to the day!) that I did the exact same trip from NY to the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia. The other coincidence: I did it on the exact same Bonnie! 😁
I've traveled around the world numerous times, and that road trip on my motorcycle is still one of the best (easily in the top 3) I've ever taken in my life! Those memories will be with me till my dying day. Thank you again for reviving that glorious 2 week trek for me! 😃

Wow cool to hear you've taken the same trip. What a tremendous part of the world and love to hear that it competes vs. the rest of the many places that you've traveled.

Beautiful video. It brings back many memories. I've been to Nova Scotia 8 times by motorcycle, starting in 1984 for my Honeymoon. I took a 70lb dog(!) along on the back seat 5 times, and took my sidecar 3 times with my daughter and wife. I agree about how warm and open the people are. Total strangers would invite us to join them for dinner when they saw there was a line. The Bluenose Rally in Kentville, sadly no longer held, brought together riders of every brand and walk of life to celebrate a common interest. If you go again, budget time to attend the Tatoo in Halifax. It's a gathering of military marching bands from all over the globe that will blow your socks off. Take the ferry from Pictou, NS to Woods Island, PEI, and visit the Anne of Green Gables Museum. Bob

A very well done overview of motorcycling in Nova Scotia. I first travelled the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island in 1968 on my new BSA Lightning 650. The view from your Triumph brought back some great memories of that ride. At 76 I hope to do one more trip around the Trail .Being from Cape Breton I must say you captured the spirit of the Islands scenery.

I ride that skinny strip along Crescent Beach to the LaHave Islands 3 or 4 times a week…just because it’s so beautiful. Excellent editing! Well done.

My dad had a vespa 50 scooter. It sat in the garage for 2 years untouched after he passed away. When I was 15 my little brother and his friend tried to get it running. To my surprise it ran well. So unfortunately for my brother I took it and did my licence on it. I am now 61 and just recently bought a beautiful 2016 CB1100EX. It's about my 45th bike and most likely will be the last. It is just the perfect bike for me now. If I'm too tired to ride, I can still enjoy polishing it and looking at it. But riding it is a pure joy. It's not all there is to life but it really helps you forget the day to day grind.

I got into motocross riding in the 80’s after watching the movie Winner takes all. I didn’t get my license until 2001 when I was 30.

Just another excellent Motorcycling video Chris, keep them coming when you can please, I just completed a 3 day road trip with 13 mates from the Blue Mountains west of Sydney Australia down our South Caost to a town called Cobargo in NSW, it's winter here but the weather was kind and we had a great trip.👍

Got my license at 47 - just something I felt like doing. Seems to help my ADHD as I'm not able to think too much so my mental problems clear up. Seems to help, and I like adventure and just like being different.

I love your videos man. They capture riding very very well. I will play the story game. My Dad rode from 18 until he had me in his 30s. Then he hung it up until I was 15. Once he got back on a bike, I did enjoy riding on the back. Always fun. That was a seed. I also was always interested in airplanes, and eventually went on to get my license. There is crossover there, at least in my mind (operating machinery, freedom, beauty of the machine, etc). Motorcycles really took hold though when my buddy bought a little TU250. He let me ride it around a parking lot. That was the first time I rode anything motorized with two wheels. And that was it for me... I was completely hooked and bought my first bike (83 Suzuki 400) soon after that.

Thanks for sharing! I agree there is a lot of crossover with flying - definitely something I am hoping to get into in the future

That left thumb checking the indicators incessantly. Good habit.

The sound of the triumph is so much part of the ride, the music is a distraction. I usually will not watch with music but your introduction to riding was very interesting. Thank you.

Why does your left thumb touch the turn signal button often? (I do that as well .... OCD). CHEERS. looking forward to the next one.

    • @ChrisIronhardt
      @ChrisIronhardt  22 วันที่ผ่านมา

Haha I knew someone would eventually notice that... I do not even notice I do that while riding (but always notice it while video editing). I don't have too many OCD tendencies but that is definitely one of them. I never want to be that guy driving with his turn signal blinking for miles...
