I think Jax being hated (fairly) is going to be plot relevant, "In this world, the worst thing you can do is make someone think they're not wanted or loved"
So, what I'm getting. Kinger acts kinda loopy when in light, but when surrounded in darkness (like his pillow fort) he acts more grounded and sane. But no one else knew this so everyone just thinks hes a nutcase, and thats why he freaked out when his pillow fort was destroyed by the gloinks. Its a safe space. Oh god, thats depressing.
Well, he IS a "nutcase", to use it pejoratively. Even in the darkness, he's plagued by serious PTSD flashbacks, a significant mental illness, but the only way he can hold onto objective reality is through associations with that trauma, which he blocks out when not triggered by being in the darkness. He's like a senile war vet in late-stage alzheimers, who can only think straight when its the fourth of July and all the gunpowder smoke and explosions reminds him of 'nam and sends him into a spiraling fear fit, but at least he can remember his family in the panic attack. The pillow fort isn't a safe space, it's a torture chamber. It forces him to face his PTSD head-on, constantly, reliving the "death" of his wife over and over, in exchange for a tiny mediocrum of control over his own mental state, sacrificing mental comfort for a smidgeon of mental stability. Plus-side, in a world of purely mental constructs, being insane is a form of immortality; he can never abstract if he can't string together two thoughts in order to lose hope. Negative-side, in a world of purely mental constructs, being insane is a form of immortality; he can never be reunited with Queenie.
I imagine you haven't seen much of Goose's older work before. That's the most quintessentially Gooseworx-esque character design in this series so far 😏 /lh
This is the second time I watched it. Just now realized the moment Kinger went sane is when the creature was going to swallow him. The little light orbs in its mouth looked like his abstracted wife’s eyes.
I like to think that he begins to regains his sanity and memory when he says: "you know, I'm starting to think." And instead of cutting the sentence short, that is a complete statement
@@grimmnova5476 I think so too. You can tell he isn’t as spastic and clumsy, but as soon as Pomni drags him away you can see something click and he is normal.
Gotta love how the kinger darkness thing is set up each episode. Closes his eyes to remember Kaufmo. Bucket on head when he recalls Ragatha’s time there in episode 2
Well there were several hints throughout the bit of the episode where they’re in trophy room, cause you see a bunch of eyes everywhere and there’s the cross on the newspaper depicting the creature, and of course the book.
27:29 Jax is so hateable that he's fun to a lot of people, I think. I don't like him as a person, but his character has great dynamics with everyone. And what I enjoy abt him too is that the show knows he sucks. In the last episode (ep2) for example when Pomni had that moment of connecting with everyone at the funeral and them metaphorically catching her, Jax wasn't a part of it. I'm curious to see how he will play out as the story progresses...
"In this world, the worst thing you can do is make someone think they're not wanted or loved." -Kinger Jax is taking that line as advice lol. I'm also curious what his role will be in this show later down the line.
I think that's the problem. His brain is strange to say the least so when Zooble tells him to 'forget it' he takes it literally. At least until certain stimuli make him remember.
This episode made me cry so hard😭😭 Kinger is officially my favorite I hope I am not the only one who likes Kinger. When he shined he looked like an angel😭
A sad thought just came to my mind. The game ends when the king piece falls, right? I always figured Kinger would be the last one who would abstract because his insanity seems to be a type of mental guard after the loss of Queenie. A way his mind protects itself from giving up and losing hope, or going insane in the same way as the others. He's likely lost so many friends in this place. What if the show ends with him falling after spending too long in darkness with his mind, and reuniting with his wife?
2:20 to note, there are a lot of Netflix shows that were originally on yt. Like they just uploaded the whole finished or partially finished series to Netflix, but put everything yt first.

TO be fair Jax calling him a nutcase isnt exactly wrong from his perspective nad view of his MORE experienced tie with Kinger than pomni. i think people forget that what we see as the view, not all of the characters are aware of. I’m not gonna lie when Jax started talking I honestly thought he was Alejandro. I was like is that “Alejandro aka Cyno aka Izumi aka Leon aka Macaque aka CYYU?!!”
I can't believe Cy Yu called it in the last episode! He said Kinger was able to remember stuff about Ragatha because of the bucket on his head. Now we know it was the resulting darkness that did it. I wonder if Pomni will do anything with this information like making a blindfold for Kinger to wear. That way he can keep his memories
I remember before episode 3 came out, Gooseworx answered a Tumblr ask by giving a sneakpeak Jax line from this episode, being "Don't ever call us that again" and people were theorizing that he was gonna go off on some NPC in defense of the others. Then the episode came out and it was just in reference to Caine calling them 'Meowing Milkmaids' after the adventure, lol
People talk about this less, but it seems like this episode works as a reminder that Caine is not a person, but an advanced AI. This episode had a lot of lore drops and started to hint to a lot of possibilities into everyone's backstories. I feel everyone's Avatars relate to what kind of person or past they had before showing up here. I think Cy is right about Kinger, being a chess piece he might be close to this world and partly responsible for it, his wife maybe too. Like how he says "7 years of Computer Science for this" yea that can't just be coincidence I hope to see that lead somewhere someday. And Zooble, their little Therapy Session scene here is why I hypothesis their forms here being related to their past traumas or lives. They state they hate themselves and their body (tho yea they say their body here in the vitural space but hear me out) what if they were somebody who felt trapped in themself before coming here. I know a lot of people go thru that kinda thing a lot irl. If this is true then we can probably hypothesize everyone based a bit on what they look like. Ragatha being a doll makes me think she was an unhappy People Pleaser type. Her personality that we've seen so far would also suggest this. As for what kind of work she did or had, hard to say people pleaser types are in nearly every profession. Gangle having those masks is another easy one to figure out, metaphorical masks are a very common psychosis and here they are just now more literal for them. Being as fragile as they are could hint to them being an emotionally fragile person, and since its a Comedy and Tragedy mask I'll go on a limb here and theorize they might've been a theater kid or just like theater. Jax is the one I'm not yet sure of. Oh his personality itself says more then his design does. Pushing everyone's buttons, showing a lack of care for anyone but himself, never talking about his pasts or himself to anyone else. I've seen these tropes a lot in the misunderstood bully kid types. Think like Nelson from The Simpsons, I can guess he has a horrible childhood and just as horrible parents. One if not both are likely alcoholics and they fight all the time, possibly even divorced. But why tho is he this smiling cat like creature? Not sure yet, maybe he had a cat that he loved but lost or something. idk but this episode had a lot of underlying details that got that small part of my brain which likes to theory craft revving lol can't wait for the next episode now :3
@@Wine_da_rat no no think about it why would they partner with the show and knowing Netflix they just want to make a profit or would they b do it for their benefit and theirs
Fun fact: Kinger saying “Welcome back my meowing milkmaids” is a silly easter egg, because if you listen in the Polish dub, it’s pronounced “skibidi sigma”
25:24 Now that I think about it, since he is the first one to end up in the digital circus and he always mentioning about "bugs", what if Kinger is some sort of game tester or a computer programmer specialized in debugging errors in the system.
I just realized what he meant by “it was my fault we went down this path, wasn’t it?” Was him realizing that he knew his insane self brought them there and not by an accident. He becomes more and more depressing that the only time he realizes his actions is when he is in true darkness
TO be fair Jax calling him a nutcase isn't exactly wrong from his perspective and view of his MORE experienced tie with Kinger than Pomni. i think people forget that what we see as the view, not all of the characters are aware of. I KNOW everyone has at least done this once no matter how much you want to deny it. Make a judgment based on your own more longer term experience but not know 1 small detail that changes the entire view of a person.
12:13 Can anyone else here just picture replacing “CY YU VODS” little avatar as Kaggyfilms and the hilarious expressions he’d be making watching this video?
Jax to me feels like one of the game players who wants to star in their own movie and acts like all eyes are on him at all times. Since they can't technically die Jax acts without consequence except for maybe Abstraction. Like a lot of Trolly game players are.
With all my old react channels seemingly disappearing I was getting a bit sad about seeing so little reaction channels I knew or watch that watched this episode. Decided to give myself a blast from the past with Kaggyfilm’s new incarnation, and I’m glad to say that it was just as enjoyable as I remember.
Not long after watching this episode, I saw similarities between Kinger and Psycho Krieg. Both have proven themselves to be quite capable, lost someone very dear to them, and had their minds broken yet kinda functional. The order of events is a bit different, but the connection is there in my eyes. Kinger's wife was his Maya. A toast to our beloved mad men. 🥛
Fun fact: In one of the dubs, I forget exactly which one, Caine calls everyone "Skibidi Sigma's" at this point. Cringe. Also in the Latin dub, when the monster head first shows up Kinger says" Could you repeat that, I don't speak Lovecraftian"
With the Netflix thing, think of it like when Red vs Blue was put on Netflix, yeah the whole thing is still on TH-cam, but being on an official streaming service makes companies take it more seriously
I love how people really liked Jax in episode 1 thinking he was gonna be like an anti-hero or something, then in episode 2 people got mad when they "changed his character" Like, my brother in Christ, Glitch already wrote like four episodes and decided to make his character purely to be an unlikeable asshole.
I can’t help but suspect Jax purposely acts like…well ‘Jax’ for reasons that may actually be selfless! He might either be pretending to be a jerk or truly has a jerk personality but chooses not to rein it in to help the other Circus Members relieve their stress and cope with the endless ennui and madness that is each repeating next day. What he may be doing is he’s fulfilling a necessary role in the group dynamic: the resident A**Hole, that one person that everyone dislikes in common so that the rest form stronger bonds of community so that they can keep staying strong. Sure Caine could fill in that role too but he’s essential an omnipotent mad god. They can’t take out their frustrations on him physically because of what he can do with his powers, and they can’t hurt him with words because well…exactly what happened between him and Zooble; he’s insane so words hold no weight to him. Jax is that guy that the members can be frustrated, scream at, or bind him up to shut him up and know that it matters and isn’t pointless effort in their current meaningless existence.
Call me Kinger cause I might be crazy, but i'm really starting to think that the digital circus is some kind of twisted virtual social experiment trying to see how different personalities react and cope under different stressful situation because Cain(being an AI) is trying to learn from them. Something seems off about these “adventures”, like they could be specific to certain characters or designed by Cain to cause emotional interactions/distress between characters. He caould intesionally be putting people in situation or showing them stuff to cause them at abstract or just manually doing it himself. Like in the beginning when Kaufmo found a placed "exit door" and obssesed over it till he abstracted and then Pomni was put in the same situation.
I think Jax being hated (fairly) is going to be plot relevant, "In this world, the worst thing you can do is make someone think they're not wanted or loved"
Gooseworx even had Jax listed in the trigger warnings list she made for the series apparently
The same i think

Not sure yet, maybe he had a cat that he loved but lost or something. idk but this episode had a lot of underlying details that got that small part of my brain which likes to theory craft revving lol can't wait for the next episode now :3
One word money I think Netflix just want to make more money off this that's why
What?!?
@@Wine_da_rat no no think about it why would they partner with the show and knowing Netflix they just want to make a profit or would they b do it for their benefit and theirs
Considering the success of Hazbin hotel it makes sense that streaming services would be looking for stuff like this now.
@@AndrezeSellers and the fact it's already FREE on TH-cam is funny
@@Wine_da_rat true why would I go to a streaming service when I can watch it for free
Fun fact: Kinger saying “Welcome back my meowing milkmaids” is a silly easter egg, because if you listen in the Polish dub, it’s pronounced “skibidi sigma”
That CS comment makes me believe that Kinger is the creator of the circus. Especially since they said he’s been there the longest
I hope we get to explore the grounds in the next episode. Like the rides and the lake.
if that was the "all ages" door then what was the "matoor zoobles" door?
also "I'm starting to think..." lin.Kinger was really starting to think!
I'm realizeing now that the implications here is that Caine uses (or at least has used) the abstracted circus members as part of his adventures.
TO be fair Jax calling him a nutcase isn't exactly wrong from his perspective and view of his MORE experienced tie with Kinger than Pomni. i think people forget that what we see as the view, not all of the characters are aware of. So Jax only knows the Kinger in the light. So yes Kinger is a Nutcase and even pomni and Kinger acknowledge that once the leave the darkness that what will happen. From Jax's perspective, since he was there longer than Pomni as this episode was literally one of her first days, She doesn't have that longer term experience that Jax and the others do with each other so, Pomni saying it wasn't that bad throws him off because everyone else knows that Kinger is crazy (though the only one that outwardly expresses that is Jax) they clearly haven't been with Kinger in the dark, like Pomni had the lucky chance to experience on her first days. So From Jax's perspective its completely Justified as to why he calls him a nutcase and Is confused to Pomni's response but to (some of) us who got to experience what Pomni did with Kinger, Jax is just being a giant A-Hole. I KNOW everyone has at least done this once no matter how much you want to deny it. Make a judgment based on your own more longer term experience but not know 1 small detail that changes the entire view of a person.
Knowing Kinger is also Diluc makes this so much better ❤
12:13 Can anyone else here just picture replacing “CY YU VODS” little avatar as Kaggyfilms and the hilarious expressions he’d be making watching this video?
HOLD ON...KINGER SWORE AND IT WASN'T CENSORED
I think it wasn't censored because they are literally called "The Souls of The Damned".
I got the digital circus voice actors. Signatures today amazing people to talk to !
Might be onto something with that theory of Kinger possibly having a hand in making the game, but he just doesn't remember! I hadn't considered that.
3:20 still wondering what bubble said :,3
Pretty sure some reversed it and she said “I can’t wait to see how many kids are traumatized this episode”
@@Noname2421. thank you lol
Its more like i cant wait for the children in the audence gets nightmares from the monstrt
"I can't wait for all of the children in the audience to get horrible nightmares from the monster!"

Jax to me feels like one of the game players who wants to star in their own movie and acts like all eyes are on him at all times. Since they can't technically die Jax acts without consequence except for maybe Abstraction. Like a lot of Trolly game players are.
I had the same braincell and reaction like CyYu when watching this😂😂😂
Why did I watch this RIGHT before I went to sleep….
Have you tried auditioning for Glitch before, Kaggy? I just know you'll have fun as a Murder Drone or Digital Circus member.😎
Zooble is my new fav character💜💜
i had to go watch it when i saw you watched this cause i hadnt watched yet😭
I'm guessing with the success of the first 2 episodes and now it's featuring on netflix, gooseworks finally have enough budget to make it more polish.
17:50 *WHAT?!*
Hes become a marketable plushie!
Wait I just released that Pommi is Sparkle
Ohhh the 3rd ep is so good!
Kinger fans ate well today
Digital circus is now on Netflix!
I love how people really liked Jax in episode 1 thinking he was gonna be like an anti-hero or something, then in episode 2 people got mad when they "changed his character"
Like, my brother in Christ, Glitch already wrote like four episodes and decided to make his character purely to be an unlikeable asshole.
He wasn't written to be unlikable. He was written to "get worse before he gets better"
@@danielbarnes1241 That's right. My b
Kinger lore!! I love this episode focus in Kinger, that Kinger story hit me is really sad, this episode is scary
In my defence, I love all the characters.
What if the show is Gradually Becoming better looking because the game is being worked on and the graphics are being improved as they go
Call me Kinger cause I might be crazy, but i'm really starting to think that the digital circus is some kind of twisted virtual social experiment trying to see how different personalities react and cope under different stressful situation because Cain(being an AI) is trying to learn from them.
27:55 "Lore on Jax" What do you mean? This is lore on Kinger not Jax
gang up on cyyu, make him play pressure.
so my theory of Kinger being one of the programmers for the circus might be right
