I think that Courteney appearing on Family Ties is where she learned to be a really good sitcom actor that when she got Friends she was ready to take it to another level.
Courtney Cox and Tom Hanks appeared on Family Ties at different times, and they were both brilliant. This show had terrific writing and the foresight to cast some very good talent, some of which were before their days of true stardom.
It would've been great. But I guess that Fox never appears on Friends in a cameo or guest appearance is he was doing Spin City at the time which kept him busy and that show was on a competing network. Plus he didn't come out publically about his Parkinsons yet but he was dealing with that.
That's because she spent a great Portion of her career associated with Friends. But when this episode first aired back in the eighties she would have just been seen as Lauren or another generic actress from that era.
I lived through that deficit and there was the big stock market crash. 1987 was the last time I vacationed in Washington D.C. I had already moved from New York to Rhode Island. 7 years before I moved to Canada.

It's the only episode of the series that I haven't watched yet, because I couldn't find it anywhere and buying whole season is far too expensive, especially with those shipping rates :(( If you know, I would be very grateful!
