I saw this video when I was in 6th grade I was only 14years old and loved the AE86 all the time way before Initial D came out... now I own a AE86 and took me 4 years to actually drift.Working on my 20 valve Blacktop this year ,this video change my life. Where are you with your eight six now? I'm 3 seasons into doing track days with my Jetta VR6 and I'm finally going to get my E30 on the track this year as well.
dude, this video passed me so much time while I was hospitalized for 6 years I had it downloaded on my phone and kept watching it to pass the time back then I didn't have any internet outside of home
Definitely a favorite of mine, too. He seems to be able to lay out massively more tire smoke than other cars while still equaling the other cars line/performance. The angle he likes combined with the lengthy look of the skirted four door is very stylish.
yes totally, Also, now I see that he's putting almost perfect line in that massive sedan w full interior in such a tight tracks. More respect as I started getting in to real performance driving.
14:10 always stood out to me as the little ae86 came up against the legend Nomuken and almost puffed out as smoke as he did Compared to the jzx100 at 3:45 and then Yoichi Imamura in his FD that gets smoked out by Ken. The ae86 made a good underdog.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like style comes into the judging of drifting any more. Which kind of defeats the point of it lol I find amateur drifting equally as exciting to watch as proffesional drifting now. That said, I do still like watching both. I'd rather have a good time as an amateur drifter than get stressed about being 10cm off the judge's line lol
That clip starting at 14:26 Does anyone have more of that or know where the footage came from? All things considered, the driving is pretty aggressive. I'd guess it might be the guy driving in the Option video of the Yellow Bird being drifted around the Nürburgring by a guy driving one of the fastest cars of the time at it's limit while in street clothes. th-cam.com/video/OSMCfPASImQ/w-d-xo.html

They don't even drift like this anymore. Braking/Feint maybe isn't exciting enough so It's all powerslides and parking brake nowadays.
