  • halo everybody, welcome to the channel, i hope you subscribe and stay a while....
    today i do a shirred dress once more, the neckline is off shoulder but the real drama is in the sleeves, i love these big sleeves, are they bubble, balloon or bishop sleeves? they could even go by some other name... tell me if you know,
    doing the shirring before connecting the dress pieces made things easier.

    Thank you so much. This tutorial is really helpful. Please help, am finding it difficult to do the calculation for cutting the fabric for the body part. You said quarter of my hip measurements, my hip is 44inches, my question is what will the measurements for the folding be? Thanks for replying me in advance

      Hi, fold 11+ 3inches, so it will be 14 inches for quarter fold, 28 for half and 56 for the whole, so in all the allowance added will be 12 inches, but anywhere from 5 inches total allowance added is fine.

    It's better to fold the hems before you start assembling the pieces with this particular design especially for beginners ... But all in all... Its beautiful.....

      Try folding it before shirring, it’s easier

    When you hemmed the bottom of the dress, did you still use the elastic thread to sew? And did you use the elastic thread to sew the front and back pieces together as well?

      I used about 3 yards... Add 4 inches for ease or shirring allowance

      Yes, the owner is my friend... And usually when I make a dress that is almost my size I usually fit it to see how it flows or lays on a body before sending, as long as I am not putting anyone at risk of getting skin diseases I don't feel bad trying out outfits I make...

      Elastic thread I get in town at the trimmings shop in Nairobi textiles, I think they go for 250 shillings for a box of 10...

    You fold the fabric in half and divide my hip by 4??? And also the sleeves what inches / measurements?

      Example, my hips are 40 inches, so I'll fold the fabric to 10 inches + 5 inches for ease allowance and sewing allowance, so when I unfold it, the front piece and back piece would be 30 inches each in width, the ease allowance can be btwn 2- 10 inches depending on preference.
      The sleeves were 18 by 48 inches after unfolding..

      ive noticed alot of people are concerned, its interesting to me because random people try on clothes in stores but other random people buy the same clothes, is it nasty only when you know the peson who tried it on?
