I love this song more then any other OMD song EVER. The use of Bauhaus Stairway, or in German, Bauhaustreppe, which is an oil painting by German artist and Bauhaus Teacher Oskar Schlemmer, completed in 1932. It depicts the Bauhaus school, a German art school that closed in 1933, due to the Nazis' taking power. The Triadisches Ballett (Triadic Ballet) is a ballet developed by Oskar Schlemmer. The ballet became the most widely performed avant-garde artistic dance and while Schlemmer was at the Bauhaus from 1921 to 1929, the ballet toured, helping to spread the ethos of the Bauhaus. Pere Ubu were a Post-Punk band from the late 70's who's debut album was called The Modern Dance. All these references are so amazing and delightful, I just love it. High Praise to OMD for this new little gem!!!

@@2112jonr Appreciate that mate I’m young and mad about synth-pop. Gonna talk about this because I love sharing this with people. I’ve always had a likening to electronic sounds since a young age really, in the likes of the alternative rock band Keane, used to listen to them loads as a kid, they have smatterings of electronic music throughout their piano rock. And then it was the likes of Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds, and then the most popular of 80s music (stuff everyone’s heard of, not specifically synthpop) by this point I’m about 18-19. Had a relationship, it fell apart, I needed music more than ever to get me through a dark time, I turned to and discovered synthwave by artists like The Midnight or Timecop1983, also the EDM of deadmau5 and Porter Robinson, lyrics and melodies and synth lines that got me through a real rough time. The running thread of it all was it was music with synthesizers. I just hadn’t made that connection yet. At this point retro obsessions were starting to take off, Stranger Things and what have you. And one day I overheard on the radio at work, it’s a station called Absolute 80s, two songs, Thompson Twins’ Hold Me Now and Nik Kershaw’s Wouldn’t it be Good. It was like Pandora’s box opened once I made the connection between the music that took my fancy, and the instrument responsible. So then I watched a documentary called Synth Britannia, and that sealed it for me. It was interesting, and the music just sounded like nothing else. From there, it was a journey of discovery. Over the past year or two, I’ve listened to artists mentioned, but also The Cure, Human League, Flock of Seagulls, Heaven 17, Kraftwerk, Jean-Michel Jarre, Howard Jones, Pulp, The Lightning Seeds, China Crisis, Deacon Blue, The Christians, Art of Noise, Soft Cell, Midge Ure, New Order, Yazoo, Fleetwood Mac, The Smiths, Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys, Simple Minds, Prefab Sprout, all have taken a place in my music playlist. I haven’t looked back. I’ve been catching them and others live too whenever I can, now most of these artists are getting older, OMD actually stated that Bauhaus Staircase might be their last album, and I’ve ONLY JUST GOTTEN INTO THEM! 😂 In doing so, I also stumble across modern synthpop, electronic and alternative music in turn, the likes of Nation of Language, Dry Cleaning, Working Mens Club, Squid, SPELLLING, Chvrches, Everything Everything, Slow Readers Club, BJ Camplight, Blossoms, Tame Impala, and other indie artists who absolutely deserve to be big someday!
Love the shots of their album covers at the end.........Organisation, Architecture and Morality (YES!), Dazzle Ships (OH YES!!) Junk Culture, Crush etc. They are remembering their past and embracing the future. There's no ecuse, my feelings still remain.
Tan magistrales como siempre, como no podía ser de otra manera. Un abrazo muy fuerte para OMD y para todos sus incondicionales seguidores, desde España.

Appreciate that mate
I’m young and mad about synth-pop.
In doing so, I also stumble across modern synthpop, electronic and alternative music in turn, the likes of Nation of Language, Dry Cleaning, Working Mens Club, Squid, SPELLLING, Chvrches, Everything Everything, Slow Readers Club, BJ Camplight, Blossoms, Tame Impala, and other indie artists who absolutely deserve to be big someday!
Stupid comment.
Long after it was all freely available I still bought a few old OMD albums new on CD to add encouragement.
45 years into their career and they releases this! Nothing short of amazing :D Liverpools best band ever? ;)
Have you heard of The Beatles?
I love how it's still the same sound but fit with the times. So good. Video and song. All of it. Long live OMD!
Love it! Sounds like it could be a sequence in Beyond the Minds Eye
Love the shots of their album covers at the end.........Organisation, Architecture and Morality (YES!), Dazzle Ships (OH YES!!) Junk Culture, Crush etc. They are remembering their past and embracing the future. There's no ecuse, my feelings still remain.
Just brilliant
I love the way they always create a brilliant vibe and catchy songs without even really using the traditional Verse, Bridge, Hook model. Superb.
Tan magistrales como siempre, como no podía ser de otra manera. Un abrazo muy fuerte para OMD y para todos sus incondicionales seguidores, desde España.
Love this. Those analogue synths!!! Just brilliant 👍
They use digital now but can still make masterpieces
They are hoping to make sounds from their shirt cuff links next
Amazing 😍 can't wait for the new album and tour next year 😍😍😍😍
The greatest band of all time hits hard once again with this new song! Can't wait to be able to get this new album which is already shaping up to be a real success! You are too strong and I love you guys
I soooooooooooo love the subtly growing aggressive undertone. All the extra vocals that jump in and out. Brilliant opener to the new album. Curious about the rest.....and the upcoming remixes.
I love Paul & Andy. These guys are amazing. Equal parts past, present and future. Who else caught what the hanging works of art were? 🖼️
