    On the note of traveling across the country back in the 1800s, I think about that all the time! I’d love to read this book it sounds awesome.

    I just finished listening to this book, there was many times i had to rewind and relisten to certain sections again

    Snowshoe party? Never heard of that name. I always thought that group was called the Forlorn Hope

      The book describes how they constructed rudimentary snow shoes out of scaps of available materials and set out on multiple days, each time failing to make it past the first set of peaks until the third or fourth try. I believe he does mention the name Forlorn Hope (or a name like it) as well in the book
