RBC! : “The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs” by Steve Brusatte
I read this as a final report in 1990. English was never as fun, since.
Interesting topic
Dinosaurs lived with man about six thousand years ago
My son didn’t talk until just shy of his 3rd birthday. He just didn’t. Then one day watching his Dad get his dinner ready, our son said,, contentedly and clearly, “My daddy cuts me a potato.” He never stopped talking! He got an 800 on his verbal SAT , eventually got a master’s in business, has a good job and a wife and a little daughter.
Stephen king writes like and old man
Old yeller is my Roman Empire
koontz also writes beautiful prose
Some of it is also gag worthy
Thanks so much
Koontz is a LOT better and King uses the same old style in all his work. I can tell Stephen King wrote a book after the first page and that’s makes it seem cheesy.
Don’t if this would interest you, but there are two books called Blacklisted from History and Hollywood party. If you’ve ever wanted to hear a different person on the House of unamerican activities committee, communism in relation to Hollywood, or McCarthy, they’re an interesting read. Or I’ve at least found them to be so far.
Really like your channel and especially your summation of Sowell's book. Keep highlighting worthwhile stuff!
Koontz reads like a script for a Hollywood blockbuster, fast moving and an inch deep, but entertaining. Cant stand romance gumming up my horror/action/sci fi, and his go to ideal female is always "like Goldie Hawn, cute AND beautiful". At least the dogs in his books tend to live....
Answer to question : NO
What about King vs Robert McCammon or Dan Simmons???.. curious
I grew up on King and it’s been a very slow trip venturing out to other horror/thriller authors. It took about 20 years just to move from king to Koontz so what would you recommend from McCammon or Simmons?
McCammon made a bigger more cinematic version of Salems Lot (which is probably one of my least favourite vampire novels, mainly because there is zero character given to the vampires) called They Thirst, set in LA instead of small town Main and boasting the awesome Prince Vulcan as the main vampire, who has a biker gang of newly turned psychos led by the murderous albino speedfreak Kobra. Its so much fun...
I have some reviews on my channel if you’re interested
great review, you need more recognition honestly
Nice bookshelf.
🙏🏾🙏🏾
All three books in the trilogy are great and I thought the cartel was going to become a show on fx ñot sure what happened with that. Great review though! Don is actually my uncle so I'm kinda bias i guess.
I’m sad he retired from writing in order to be a political hound. His talent and calling in life is to write. His gift is wasted on the political scene. There’s too much scum in politics but as a writer, he can inspire more of the change he said he wants.
“Catchwords can delay analysis for fifty years”.
Sowell has a gift for hitting the nail precisely on the head
All of his books are on Amazon and Audible.
The pearl clutching is laughable. Heaven forbid we teach children to be tolerant for others!
There’s millions of children’s books about loving others who are different. It’s another thing completely to put blatantly inappropriate content in books designed specifically for kids.
I'll try to get a book at Barnes and Noble. This is gonna be my first thomas sowell book. Hope it's as good as it's often reviewed to be
Barnes & Noble might have Discrimination and Disparities, Charter Schools and their Enemies or Social Justice Fallacies. They probably won’t have any other titles. Best bet is Amazon to see his full collection to choose from
Kking writes REAL PEOPLE, Koontz writes book characters that have zero bad traits AT ALL EVER. Odd Thomas was awesome but its very fairy tale- esque
Are you for real? Koontz has written several books in which the main character is the insane perpetrator so I think you haven’t read his books and shouldn’t comment.
Thanks, I'll read it!
Thanks for this. Downloading it today.
Where sowell loses me is the idea of not increasing taxes on billionaires because they will just figure out ways to rip off the rest of society more. Since the 1970s quality of life has plummeted dramatically because billionaires have purchased senators and cut their own tax rates.maybe sowell has some better ideas but this turned me away from him
Sowell is full of great knowledge and it comes from his deep studies of economics, history and anthropology across not just different cultures and societies but also over time. He refrains from topics he hasn’t vigorously studied so even ideas he has that I may not agree with, I respect the sheer volume of thought and scrutiny he’s put into it.
I rank this as the best series I’ve ever read. I liked the cartel and the border better. Maybe because the first book built up the characters. These 3 and the force by don wislow are well into my top 10 books of all time
The power of the dog was my favourite
Thank you so much. I am so grateful for this information. It explains so much. Im going to get this book. Thomas Sowell is a lovely man.
Also, Fahrenheit 451. Although we have access to books right now - it's as if they were not there. No one wants to consume books anymore (it's not as stimulating as our tech devices). Took me sometime to get out of this "hate reading" mentality, but I now understand the purpose and power of books!
Such a relevant book in today's society! Last time I read this was 5 years ago -- gotta give it another read.
This was my first Dean Koontz novel in 1990 after graduating high school and having read every Agatha Christie and Stephen King book in junior high and high school. It remains my favorite Koontz book, along with Twilight Eyes. It’s insane in a good way. Incidentally, my favorite John Saul novel, Second Child, was also published in 1990.
you've got good taste Second Child is my favorite of his as well and also the 1st book i ever read by Saul
I bought this book at Ollie's a few months ago. I was buying any book i thought might be unusual or might end up banned some day or redacted. I bought about 200 books there over about 2 years....then the type of books i was buying all disappeared. They were replaced with shelves upon shelves of all cooking books and pre-school books literally. The whole book section gone. I was told the store had to do this and the pallets with the books i wanted where in the bsck room in plastic and i was not allowed to buy them. They would probably be sent back or destroyed. It has been 3 months and still no history or science or art or photography or political or millitary historical books to speak of. I hate to say its a book ban but there you go.
Calvin and Hobbes was such a big part of my childhood, providing both entertainment and philosophical reflections that I still carry with me to this day. I'm definitly buying this the next time I'm shoping for books. Thank you for the recommendation!
My son had his "own language" until about 40 months old. It was like typing a paragraph on a keyboard, only discovering that your fingers were wrongly positioned on the keyboard and so it looked like garble with punctuations and everything. He KNEW what he was saying, but we didn't. At 3 years old I took him to a speech therapist who strongly suggested I put him with other "special needs" children. (Rolling eyes). I thanked them politely and refused. Went home and continued to simply read to him, as I did with all 3 of my children. He began to talk in complete sentences by 40 months. We returned to the speech therapist and she couldn't believe it "What in the world happened? Did you take him to another therapist?" I responded "I didn't do ANYTHING. I just kept reading, and he talked when he was ready." Period. It was during that time that I discovered Thomas Sowell, and was so encouraged by the book above and others he has written on education. In fact, Sowell said that the later you start formal education, especially with boys, the better they will do in school. My son is now 30, a college graduate, married, and has a great job. I have yet to meet any 4 or 5-year-old who cannot talk. We rush children when we should not:)
Thank you so much for sharing! Other parents need to hear this. Too many parents are pushed in directions against their wishes with regard to their children. I think the best choice y’all made was to stay the course, read to your child and show love and patience. Reading alone does so much to help a child’s speech development.
King is too wordy, he uses 100 words to describe things when10 would suffice
Well said 💪🏽
I cannot wait to get this! Awesome explanation without spoilers well done
Nice review . Always been a dean Koontz fan and his earlier works are great. Watchers is my favorite next to Intensity
I’ll have to check those out! I have a handful of mystery/thriller/horror reviews you can check out and see if there’s a new book you’d enjoy 👍
@@rumblebookclub he's a hit and miss more so than Stephen King because for one Dean Koontz has written close to #200 books and nearly #40 of them are now out of print mainly ones from (1968-1975) i'd say though there are a couple still in print. he rewrote a few as well in the 90's Demon Seed the original (1973) is long out of print the one in stores you see is the rewritten version. books of Koontz i thought were bad were The Mask, The Other Emily, the house of thunder & Cold fire. i haven't read that many of his but i would suggest The Face of fear that's a decent one. Strangers i love, Sole Survivor i also love. i've only read #7 of his books thus far so i can't suggest too many titles
This is my favorite Dean Koontz book. He really goes there with the brutality, which turns some people off. But, this is horror. I also love other books of his that people have already noted. Some that need more respect are Lightning, Midnight and The Servants of Twilight.
Thomas Sowell is a national treasure!!!
I just finished listening to this book, there was many times i had to rewind and relisten to certain sections again
This was my first introduction into Dean Koontz and it still is my favorite, next to Twilight Eyes and Phantoms! The mother to the 'weird family' is just plain nuts!!!! Great vid cheers!
Good summary without giving too much away.
Candy also was a hermaphrodite
Me
Nice book review. Wonder when the book title changed? This was Hemingway's original title I believe but the publisher did not understand it. So it became, Fiesta with the subtitle, 'The Sun Also Rises.' They thought Fiesta was exotic and easier to understand, they did not get the reference, the sun also rises. Also to what? That apparently was Hemingway's secret little joke. A reference to the impotence of the main character. Best wishes to you and your channel. Just subscribed.
He will never stopped writing books until the day he dies.
Brought to the channel by your Koontz vs King short, subbed for Thomas Sowell! One of the greatest thinks of our time as far as I'm concerned
He’s a gem and we need more of him in the world! Thanks for subscribing 👍
As a reader and baseball fan, this is a great story! Props to Matt White for taking the time to give such a thoughtful gift.
nice video
