A local tree company dropped off my first load today. For free!!! They said they'll keep bringing it as long as I want it. Great stuff too. Not real big chunks or anything. I'm so glad I called them! They seem happy to get rid of it.
Keep doing it the way you are. I don't know if anyone else feels like I do. When I watch every video someone puts out, don't really know one another, but you kind of get the feeling of friendship. I know is weird. I live outside of a small town. There is nobody that has made a back to eden garden, besides me. I look for other peoples gardens when I'm driving.
Watching all of your videos progress with an invigorating growth and development is the fun part , keep moving forward and let’s all keep learning ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤tuck forever!
I've got a 3 year old food forest in progress in my front yard in Ocean County. Newly planted this season... apricot, buffalo berry, black aronia berry and white currant and so much more. I love your videos, James. Permaculture is the way to heal and feed the world. Mulch the planet! haha! Have a great day!
Just keep doing what you are doing. Be you. Just be. You don't need to change anything brother. This is more "real" or personal... "Just a stroll through the garden sharing the day, sharing knowledge, sharing the excitement of The Gardener's Life!
You said, "be faithful in what you have, and something will open up for you". Amen Bro. Words of wisdom. So many things can open up for you. I pray that we all keep our hearts, and our senses open to truly experience the gifts God is giving us!
I like these blended ones where you tell us what you are feeling, growing and what has helped and guided you, because you are such a passionate person that if you put it on video it has got to be important! I always have a take away from your videos. :) Thank you James, much appreciated!! ;)
Is it just me or does anyone else "High-Five" the screen to James at the end of every video ??? … Loving your videos in any format, thank you for taking the time bro. :-)
James, I like your blended style of videos, but really it's the passion for growing that I like. There aren't too many people around me that like to grow like I do, and I know of none who do the back to Eden, and none that have a food forest. I appreciate the work and time you take in shooting and editing the videos to bring us in to your forest. Would you ever consider making merchandise, like tshirts or something to help defray the time cost you input in making the videos? I would wear a "What's up, growers!?" Tshirt!
Hi James, what I noticed about adding woodchip to strawberry plant they come up with large glossy leaves. The self seeded lettuce looks amazing, I coppice my hazel nut bushes and use the sticks from it for kindling as I have a wood burning stove. This provides me with a lot of wood ash. This year I have been adding wood ash to the chicken coop where they have their dust bath then I gather all the scattered wood ash that is mixed with the chicken manure and add to my pot plants, as a result instant potash nitrogen fertiliser. When a little handful is added to any plant it means instant flowers and lush green leaves. I love the weekly progress James I compare my garden to yours.
When is the best time to plant a tree? 25 years ago. The next best time? Today. Have fun watching those apple trees grow. It will be the start of an adventure.
James really is an inspiration. Growing plants will teach you so many things about life. One of the best things I've learned is patience. Maybe one day you can do a video to show us your food forest. Grow on bro!
What is wrong with the people that vote thumbs down on these videos? What's not to like? They are interesting, educational, and Tuck makes regular appearances. Love what you do James.
James, I would love to see a video specifically on your supportive flowers and herbs...IE-what you grow any why. Thank you for what you are doing. Blessings
I love the shorter blended videos. I'm in South Africa and watch very video of yours that comes out. I love your passion as it inspires me. I also learn so much from your mistakes. Thank you so much. I would love a video of things that grow in the shade
These kind of videos are what gets me on TH-cam. Your videos aren’t like other you tubers, and that’s a compliment! Haha don’t change, you’re content is extremely valuable. Keep it up :)
I enjoy watching your videos because of the way you tell what worked and what doesn't. I especially like it when your videos show me how to build things or specifically plant certain trees or plants. Thank your for your encouragement.
I was going to ask for a tour of the greenhouse, then thought to check your videos. That first greenhouse video was your most inspirational for me, yet. When you explained how you had been salvaging and saving materials for years - that resonated with me. One of my goals is to spend as little money as possible on my gardening/food forest adventures. I am resigned to the fact that it will take a long time with many baby steps as I move forward. To see that you had a similar trajectory makes me happy and hopeful. I also loved your temporary greenhouse. That showed me that you don't have to wait for some big opportunity before you can move ahead with smaller, cheaper, but effective solutions. I don't think I'll ever have a big greenhouse, because my backyard is North of my house and isn't very big. But I can easily see myself creating some structures like your temporary greenhouses that could really help to extend the growing season for me. I'm a bit interested in your choice of using Red Solo cups. It seems to me that you may be wasting space and soil and that you could get away with a smaller container. I'm just wondering. You are thoughtful and deliberate in your choices so I imagine there may be a good reason I'm missing.
I also started a "Back To Eden Method" garden about 4 to 5 years ago, so it's very interesting seeing what others like you are doing with wood chips and the results you are getting ; ) I also hear a lot of negative talk from people who think too many wood chips will be bad for your ground.... but, as I grow things in the wood chips and then even the same plant out in the yard with no wood chips.... it's such a big difference!! I grew a zucchini plant one year.... the same plant in two different spots, the one with no wood chips got up to my knee and had lots of zucchini... but, the one in lots of wood chips grew about 5 foot tall or more... the leaves were huge, the zucchini were huge, my husband took pictures and no one could believe it was a zucchini plant. It is hard work covering the ground with wood chips, but, worth it. I really enjoy seeing your videos. Keep up the good work!!
Ahhh James you’re doing a great job. I took some of my Swiss chard into work today for my boss. She said it reminded her of the “Land of the LARGE “ everyone was impressed with the size of the leaves! I’m taking, more in tomorrow. Btw...my hands were drenched while plucking the stalks 😂 It’s fun sharing with others who appreciate organic, homegrown food 🤗
I've said it before..feeling it this morn. I wish, I could hang a huge big screen out in the garden so I could loop your vids..What? buy a lottery ticket...na na my friend more seeds. The garden is my guarenteed winning ticket! Thank you James for all you do!
Beautiful man! We have moved away from two of our Back to Edan's from our previous homes and are now building on our own land and I can't wait to plan and put in our new Back to Edan at our new home and land when it's done! Keep it up.
I know you are developed beyond where you are here, as I am binging your channel after the fact. But, you asked a good question, and I have a good idea, that I think you will enjoy. I love Thatnub's videos of Paul Gauchi on his tours. He has super long videos with all details, and he cuts them down into a lot of shorter, more topically specific, areas. I think posting the whole tour is great, because I love watching them sometimes. I love the five to ten minute cuts of "talking about _______" or the other. Of course, we agree, here in the desert of Tucson, Arizona, that all your channel really needs is ... wait for it ... you guessed it ... MORE TUCK!!!
Simply beautiful James.i got my 1st yield of strawberries.2 cups full.so tasty i barely made it in the house with them.soon as the rain stops im planting 2 mulberries.ty for all you do
I really like the format you used in this one. It's made me want to watch all your other ones...I'm just in my first year or 2 of Back To Eden growing in our rental property. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful set up. I’m starting a food forest. I have truck loads of mulch being delivered daily. Exciting stuff! I bordered my property with green giant arborvitae.
One last comment and I'll let you be about your day..promise What sets you above my other loved gardening channels is your music. It adds magicks to the view, it evokes very good emotions and thoughts creating a bond. Whatever your vids, it creates a bond of some sort between you and your community here..k
Long videos, blended videos, those videos you did last year from the desk where you featured your inspirations, maybe even other growers? I've got 10 acres to fill and you give me so much inspiration!
God's creation is in full growth right now! Wow! It seems like yesterday you were still battling cold temps, and look at things now! James one of the things that some other channels do is what's called a 'walk thru' where they do a 30+ minute segment of the full food forest for the video. It's usually raw and uncut. Then they will do other videos that focus on a particular topic (which you do very well already). Both are great, and satisfy all us growers out there that love to see what you got growin' on brother! :)
I enjoy your videos just as they are. I have now over 350 starter plants. I lost lot to a really hot day in the greenhouse and me being gone the all day 😔. Needless to say their all outside now. This is my 5th year gardening but my first year starting a food forrest. I had 6 fruit trees delivered yesterday and super excited. Thank you for sharing. I truly appreciate all that you do.😉
Love talking to locals about our gardens. Guess I am lucky to work at a barber shop in Bayville and especially love the old timers sharing their tips and tricks. I've learned a lot from your channel also. I've used a light layer of mulch to keep the weeds down for years, but I want to try the Back to Eden with several inches. Working on finding someone to deliver some wood chips. For now I have been using leaves and the remnants of wood chips from past years. Trying to save myself 50 trips to the recycling center 😉
You're my favorite channel to watch, because you are more real than the other gardeners out there. I had channels I loved watching but they sold out and started promoting things more and more. I love that it's you genuinely wanting to help educate and get people growing. In my area everyone lives off of fast food and thinks I'm insane. Even our family acts like were aliens. But I love it and would choose this life over mcdonals and clubbing anyday. Do you have any recommendations on pest prevention? I would live to see that. Squash bugs and tomato horn worms are my worst enemy here in NC zone 7b.
I will take any video you give. You make me smile every time. I don't have land, but planted huge herb forest in my window sill today. Maybe I can transplant to a Food Forest home someday ;) Love ya! Hi Tuck!
I started with containers 15 years ago at my first apartment. Now i own 3 acers i live on with small garden (i mentioned in previous comment) and inherited 8acers of cowfeild and woods im turning into a food forest over next few years. Thank you for videos as i watch them i get very motivated to work on my food supply.
James, you are my new favorite YT gardener. I've been watching you for a while and am so excited to follow your spring. I'm a little behind schedule with this crazy weather but I should have a goodly amount going by this weekend. NW NJ. Keep rockin' it, Mr. Prigioni!
I love the blended videos when you show us a big picture view and then take us into the details... I'd like to hear more about why you chose certain fruit trees, or stories behind any one particular tree or fruit or vegetable... like the time you talked about your grapes and why you chose table grapes... love seeing tuck, and hearing your feelings... it connects us. Would like to see more of your chickens... also I like the comment below about bees.. and I was very curious about your foraging for the insect that is good for the garden... where did you hunt for it... do you get a lot of butterflies.. and what about birds... got any nests... baby bird pics? You always make side comments that I'd like you to expand on... keep up the good work!
I truly enjoy your videos. They are inspiring, educational and beautiful to behold and full of wisdom. Thank you for all the hard work and time you put into doing them. I’d love to see your side garden as well as the ongoing food forests.
I live in Lillooet BC, it is one of the hottest places in Canada. I have a problem with keeping moisture in the ground. I will get some woodchips from tree companies in the spring. Thank you for these amazing videos, keep up the good work.
Love your work. You’re food forest is awesome. I’ve got one started in the Hudson Valley. Planted Trees last Spring. Responding to the end of your video: I’d like to see some videos that stay strictly on topic. This one could’ve been concise and to the point about the wood chips. Showing more of the soil, worms, results, etc. and leaving out the garden tour part. Then compliment that with some longer videos that are extended garden tours. But thanks for it all. I’m learning a lot from you and I hope to be getting some results like you in the coming years. Thanks!
My wife was explaining back to Eden to a woman at the bank. Also mentioned you and they are now watching your videos and converting the garden next year.
Thank you for showing what your persimmon flowers looked like. I kept forgetting to look that up. Wasn't sure if mine was flowering or pushing out more leaves. Lots of flowers then. May be the first year for fruit then! :-D
Have you thought about keeping bees? If not honey bees maybe native bees? Also I noticed that you don't have many early flowers. I know you are growing food but feeding the pollinators increases yeilds.
Another great video, I enjoy them all and am working on the beginnings of a forest in my back yard. Keep the goodness coming in the format you enjoy the best!
IS looking great! like seeing the blended vids and just seeing the different things and the stages of them. Would enjoy seeing more of your new food forest so we can compare the two, the new and the 7 year one. Have just started to develop an area here like yours with the wood chips and have noticed a big difference even in the year that have been doing it. Those patches that I have gotten the chips down are WAY better then those I haven't gotten to yet. Things here in Calgary area JUST getting going and my pear trees are JUST blooming now and my apples will follow shortly. So keep up the vids and the GREAT work, getting inspired and motivated!
We are headed into heat days now, I know chard and kale are good all year round, what other vegies will grow well in the hot days of summer ? My spring grow is almost done..like bok choy, my gods I say they did amazing, my broc is biiig and green but nothing that looks like lil heads. My few peppers are banging. Tomatoes are doing ok. I fearfully covered my strawberries when the triple digits came..don't guess I needed to, yes? I have my cucumbers growing in an area that gets late morn and afternoon shade, they look good but growing a bit slow. Will bell pepers take the heat? I'm trying corn for the first time, these I know will take full sun. My favorite new discovery is Aunt Mollys ground cherries. What a kick! Got one the other day that tasted like pineapple coconut, one that tasted like pineapple-tommato, too much fun. Bright Blessings for your day my friend..
like the currant format, but a long walk through once a week or so whenever things are happening to quick to cover in the normal show would be cool. bought a new cherry shovel for my garden this year :-)
Love your videos. I like the blended vids, I can always find tips from you. I have a lot of raised beds around my house and yard and I'm doing a food forest method you are teaching with them. Thank you!
Great videos! I just recently found your channel and love it. We live in West Virginia and I'm always looking for inspirational videos for our climate specifically but it's hard to find. Your climate is very similair to ours so I can actually utilize some of your ideas. We've been gardening for 10+ years but moved to our current home 5 years ago and have been slowly converting the 180' x 180' residential lot to a food forest. Thanks for putting in the time to add such great content to TH-cam.
I'm a new subscriber. I like this format for videos. I like long-form too. Maybe you could get a drone for wider angles and various perspectives. I enjoy hearing about what you read and study the most. Sounds like you're a believer. Your words resonate with my spirit. 😊
You are the man, I appreciate your time & efforts sharing. Keep up the good videos & doing what you do. "I have a goldmine in my backyard..." Great analogy
I love your Blended videos. I think it's a style that's well suited for a variety of needs. Food Forest is absolutely gorgeous. I get so excited when I see you have a new video out.do you have herbs in the forest?just curious to know how they would do in a food forest. thanks.
like them all only problem is not enough!!!!! I look every day to see if there is a new video! waiting for some dead danger trees to come down on my property then.........lets go!!!
YESS!!! That’s what I like to hear Andrew! Stick with it, it gets better every year you saw my soil now 😱 Keep me updated on the progress bro, on here or on FB 😁👊
The Gardening Channel With James Prigioni Thanks man i will definitely keep you posted. I don't know if you got my message on FB messenger earlier. I was the kid over at the breakfast place lol. I didn't want to bother you cuz you had headphones in
your videos aare full of inspiration for me, thank you. i just bought 4 blueberry bushes, peat moss, pine conditioner. IM STUCK. do i treat my alkaline soil (8.5) with an amendment before laying wood chips?
I like all your videos. Maybe the ones where you show how you did a certain thing more. Like planting something or pruning. Oh I transplanted most of my strawberries to an area under my cherry tree. That opened up an area to plant peppers and Swiss chard. Still room for more veg. Thanks, I wouldn’t have thought of it on my own 👍😁
Hey James, I really enjoy your videos and it has helped me understand a lot of things about soil. One question - how deep in inches with the wood chips for the fruit trees?
James, I'm in Jersey too and have started my backyard food forest this Spring. I planted some fruit trees, berry bushes and strawberries and I'm using netting to protect the fruit because I'm paranoid the birds will eat it all. What are you doing to keep birds away from your fruit? How about squirrels? I've got both including rabbits and deer!
Thanks, James! I've got a very small space with a maple tree shading most of the yard out.. Just put in a Lapin Cherry and i'm hoping she will get enough sun! The part of my yard that gets somewhat full sun i've packed in a Honeycrisp, Haralson, Shinseiki, Shenko, lots of currants, honeyberry, gooseberry, raspberry, hazelnut.. I've got two Cornelian cherry trees on their way, as well as a quadruple grafted plum. I also need to find somewhere to stick these bluebell grape and shizandra vines; also trying to figure out where to put goji berry and nankeng cherry. So happy to have began this journey! Do you sow/plant/transplant with a lunar or biodynamic calendar, at all? I might have to shell out a monetary investment to get the maple pruned to allow more light in. Much love!!
I love all your videos they’re always educational I do have a question I sent a message to one of your other videos I have a bad crabgrass problem how do I get rid of it
The forest is looking amazing, per usual. My quail eggs have hatched and I just got a load of cedar chips. Should I wait for the chips to break down before I rotationally graze the birds on it? I heard cedar can give them respiratory problems.
A local tree company dropped off my first load today. For free!!! They said they'll keep bringing it as long as I want it. Great stuff too. Not real big chunks or anything. I'm so glad I called them! They seem happy to get rid of it.

Very cool, that’s how I feel with you all. Like we are friends. Hahah I do the same exact thing. BTE Brothers 👊😂

Keep doing videos like this! I ordered my first shovel today! Two apple trees!
Good man!! Thanks for the input my friend 😁🙏🏻
When is the best time to plant a tree? 25 years ago. The next best time? Today. Have fun watching those apple trees grow. It will be the start of an adventure.

Mustang Sally that is right
I suspect people are put off by the intro and don't give merit to the content
I l9ve the way you explain, encourage and give lots of facts and show it too. It's like checking in on our plant friends.
James, I would love to see a video specifically on your supportive flowers and herbs...IE-what you grow any why. Thank you for what you are doing. Blessings

I love the back to eden woodchips idea. It really does match what nature does in the forests.
Started with 10 plants at the end of March, Now I have 30 Im pretty sure Gardening is addictive!
Haha!! Good man. Oh it definitely is, but it gives a good pay off 😂🤣
Yes...yes.it.is.
a tip : you can watch series on kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using it for watching loads of movies these days.
@Sergio Elliot Yup, I've been watching on kaldroStream for months myself :D
Beautiful set up. I’m starting a food forest. I have truck loads of mulch being delivered daily. Exciting stuff! I bordered my property with green giant arborvitae.
Super encouraging and helpful. I’m forced to mulch with leaves for now so we’ll see how it turns out. Thanks!!

Wow 10 acres! That’s my dream! I’m in 6800 sf lot trying to grow vertically! I got tips from james and other urban gardeners! Great video james!
hi.. james, i like your advices ,very nice garden
Hi Prasanna! 😁

Working on finding someone to deliver some wood chips. For now I have been using leaves and the remnants of wood chips from past years. Trying to save myself 50 trips to the recycling center 😉
I honestly love both kind of videos, call me greedy!
Haha nice!! Thanks for the input and support Hutch 😁
Started mine 2020, I’m here because I want what you have. Trees are cleared, mulch purchased, scared🤯....but I’m going for it!
Prigioni!
Great video. I spent the day in my garde- free therapy. Everything is blooming a little further North of you now too. ✌
I’d love to see your side garden as well as the ongoing food forests.
keep doing what you are! It's very good and works well! Keep it up! You're a huge inspiration!
Long garden tour videos once a month would be awesome!
Beautifull
AwsoMe Work !! 👌
You are such a great inspiration. Thank you.
I like the style and lenght of videos you are doing - Thank you so much ! You are kind and mindful.
Thanks for sharing your world and forest with us.
Loving these types of videos!
Nice Ryan! I love making them 👍😁
Thanks for the input 🙏🏻
Have you thought about keeping bees? If not honey bees maybe native bees? Also I noticed that you don't have many early flowers. I know you are growing food but feeding the pollinators increases yeilds.
Another great video, I enjoy them all and am working on the beginnings of a forest in my back yard. Keep the goodness coming in the format you enjoy the best!
Love your videos, very beneficial and love watching Tuck. You’re awesome!
Hello baby Tuck....you little cuttie
I read him that, his ears went back 😁💕
Blended video's are great... You do a wonderful job with it all!
I love all your videos. It's absolutely amazing how much it has grown in! Every day new things are popping in mine too. Love it!
I was just blessed with a truck load of wood chips today. I now need to figure out how to proceed. I love your videos
I like the way your doing your videos , gust the way you do it , you being you .
like the currant format, but a long walk through once a week or so whenever things are happening to quick to cover in the normal show would be cool.
bought a new cherry shovel for my garden this year :-)
Love your videos. I like the blended vids, I can always find tips from you. I have a lot of raised beds around my house and yard and I'm doing a food forest method you are teaching with them. Thank you!
Trees are getting plenty of water right now!what a storm
Would love to see more walk thru videos; and as others have stated, please show the side garden. Thank you.
Sounds good, thanks for you input my friend 😁
Great videos! I just recently found your channel and love it. We live in West Virginia and I'm always looking for inspirational videos for our climate specifically but it's hard to find. Your climate is very similair to ours so I can actually utilize some of your ideas. We've been gardening for 10+ years but moved to our current home 5 years ago and have been slowly converting the 180' x 180' residential lot to a food forest. Thanks for putting in the time to add such great content to TH-cam.
U are full of wisdom. i wouldnt be surprised if u got ur own guide book in the works!
I'm a new subscriber. I like this format for videos. I like long-form too. Maybe you could get a drone for wider angles and various perspectives. I enjoy hearing about what you read and study the most. Sounds like you're a believer. Your words resonate with my spirit. 😊
I like the style you just did here
Sounds good Matthew, thanks for the input bro 👊
Thanks James i have learned so much from you i wish you the best and keep up the good work
Just love the videos you make... Thanks for the encouragement James... Keep doing what you're doing... You're on the right track . :)
Thank you Cleo! I appreciate the support my friend, and the input 🙏🏻
I'd like to see the side garden! I like the blended videos too.
Sounds good Thomas, thanks for the input 😁🙏🏻
i want your garden! James good job. Greetz from the Netherlands
Great wisdom james , thanks again! so much more beautiful every video
Thanks Kyle. I appreciate the encouragement! Yeah now is the time I get in the passenger seat and let nature do what it does best 😁👍
yes long videos but I like it when you talk to us so that's good too
You are the man, I appreciate your time & efforts sharing.
Thanks to your videos I'm starting the Back to Eden method in this years garden.
YESS!!! That’s what I like to hear Andrew! Stick with it, it gets better every year you saw my soil now 😱
Keep me updated on the progress bro, on here or on FB 😁👊
Thanks, I wouldn’t have thought of it on my own 👍😁
got any good ideas about controlling blackberries? and ivy? and laurels? those things are so tough to fight.
I like the blended videos, but really I like all your videos!😀
Love the videos, James, keep em coming! I like the blended version best, but do whatever works for you!
