- Here's a tribute to one of my all-time favourite bands, Steely Dan. The original drum track was played by the legendary Bernard "Pretty" Purdie. This cover version is mostly Purdie inspired added with some different fills. I have seen Steely Dan 5 times so far, once with Ricky Lawson R.I.P. and 4x with Keith Carlock. Last time was in Beacon Theatre NYC 2018 and it was a pleasure to see them play the whole Royal Scam and Nightfly albums :)
The gear in this video are Brady Spotted Gum drums (10,12,14,22), 14x6,5 Jarrah Ply snare and Zildjian cymbals.
No edits in this video, just live drums. I'm available for online recording with these drums and microphones.

I forgot I was watching drum covers of Steely Dan songs (greatest band ever) when I noticed it wasn't the original song but you covering the drums. incredible job !!!!
This is hands down the best cover of this song. The feel, the time and the groove and the mix were all spot on and I really like that you didn't overplay this like so many drummers out here on youtube that are just trying to outplay one another. This is very fresh and quite frankly a hell lot more pleasing to the ears. Awesome drumming, really inspiring.

Purdie is a genius on such a simple thing in the chorus of accenting the mid tom and snare on the 2 and 4..That drives through or cuts through the chorus and paints a different feel...I've heared it in the song but noticed it while watching.....simple....and not over complicated.

going back over the SD catalogue...listening to this groove i could swear it had a jazz shuffle feel until i watched you play...those snare ghosts really make the 8th note pulse deceptive...those tom fills are something i would never play...so musical
You got that absolutely correct! The ghost notes are the key to this groove. I was watching intently on the high hats when I notice the ghost notes too, he did a great job here!
