You are one of the best teachers. Even though my style is so different (metal/punk), I learn more from this channel because you explain things so clearly. And I know you couldn’t explain them so well if you weren’t so confident in your own understanding, which is refreshing. I’m definitely not saying your training is basic, because it is in no way basic, it’s just that you follow through on a concept enough that anyone should be able to understand it. Fleshing out concepts moves us ahead in leaps and bounds, whereas showing off is more akin to concealing the magician’s trick. It’s so annoying when people do “training videos”, in which it’s obvious that their true focus isn’t helping anyone but rather showing off how much better than us they are.
Sean is amazing. He damn seems to having The ultimative intuition, what the things are in practice, that really get us evolving. Very cool and as if was something trivial he is so witty. Oftentimes i stop by, and find myself 70 % entertained, 30 % educated (which is more than most other places) , always 0 % bored
I really enjoy these type of lessons. It’s definitely opened my mind to a lot of theory that I couldn’t get my head round earlier and has tremendously helped me navigate my way round the fretboard, which i really struggled with previously. Thanks!
Nobody teaches it better than you....how to connect chords with the scales/arpeggios. Those pentatonic boxes are my go-to places whenever I want to improvise my chords. Wish I had access to all of this when I started playing 6 years back. However, it's never too late. Cheers mate! More lessons on spicing up the rhythm guitar playing please! Because this is one of things nobody teaches online :)
i'm going to have to watch this 15 more times..... that's a lot of info, but dude, i think i'm in love with you :( you have a major way of describing and showing things. there's several guitar guys i watch to help me and they are great, don't get me wrong... but i found you a short while back and i get something out of every video i watch from you. thank you for all you do!
I was playing around with some of these ideas last night, and bam! You're talking about them today. It looks like watching all those Sean Daniel videos is paying off...
Sean, This video helped me so much. I never quite visualized the fretboard this way. My "landmarks" were always on the 6th string. But this moved me up a few strings and got me to see the notes and chord tones in a new, and EASIER, way! Thanks!
This video is so helpful. I have watched a crazy number of your videos over the last couple of days. You are a great teacher. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
This might have been the best guitar tip I've ever had (at least since I learned to harmonize a scale 2 years ago). So easy and you get great licks immediately. And also I think I can now visualize the 4th string fast for the first time. Thank you!
I'm learning so much from your lessons. I'm 63 and finally seeing now the relationships between the notes of relative major minor chords. At 5:48 it seems like you use the C chords relative A minor pentatonic box (for the Hendrix dbl stops), then move to C chord minor pent box (the note slide up to C (13th fret). not quite sure. be using that dbl stop for sure tho really appreciate your work, thanks.
I'd love to see more videos by you directed at fellow guitar teachers. I have only been giving lessons a few months and it is helpful to hear other perspectives on teaching guitar.
Best lesson I've seen from you...your a talented teacher and musician...But a lot of times it;s covered up with the clowning...Which is cool because obviously it's mostly well received..I've caught myself enjoying it,...but i can't retain the object of the exercise,. But I'll keep looking for the lessons from you, that improve my playing...Thank You.
great video as always..just wanna ask something you could maybe address in your next Q+A. What artist or band do you feel doesn't get the right level of appreciation or respect from people who arent big into that genre or music as a whole? For example i always feel people who dont really know country music think its all Garth Brooks, Kenny Rogers and Johnny Cash when really there are loads of other influential musicians such as Merle Haggard and Alan Jackson who rarely get mentioned. Keep rocking :)
I've lived in this neighborhood for 18 years. I know the main street names, but sidestreet addresses i can only tell you how to get there by landmarks and general location. You go 3 blocks then take a left and its 2 blocks and it will be on your right. All the side streets and address blocks? Nope. Yes, this is my real navigation method in life and guitar.
Learning the fretboard is like going on vacation to a new city. You know some places, you wonder around a little, places start to connect. So far I am only two blocks from the hotel.
I have gotten a grasp on basic chord structures and one blues scale but I seem stuck. I am not sure what to develop first? I am weak on Theory and intimidated by it...any ideas of where to focus first without getting bored?
Nice to go to the 3rd. but the minor pentatonic has a flat 3rd so you were combining the major and the minor pentatonic scales? And weren't you sliding into form 2 and then form 3?
Sometimes I use my heart more than my head. I intended to pay attention to your advice, but I was staring at your... guitar. 😂 Maybe not a tortoise pick guard...maybe. Dear self, Focus!
Cheers Sean...It always amazes me how many ways people come up with to get from one note to another...There ain't that many buses in a day.. Mind you it always amazed me how you put 6 strings on a lump o wood..tune it..and the notes all fall under your fingers...How someone worked that out i do not know.. The first trick i was shown is the one to the one as it's called over here...say you play G on the 3rd fret 1st string..then you slide down the B string to the G...which would be what..8th fret..I gave up counting frets years ago...knowing your intervals is key..Eventually you just do it on auto pilot...Eventually..Most of the time..
@@trentc7329 Thank you ! I have been told that there are 4 different Frets on the guitar Neck that are ((pianos))middle C ? And that is one of them ? SEAN ? what do You say ????

Solid advice and a great insight into fretboard decoding.. hope you get back in to doing more of these🤘
Great lesson. Thanks. Great way to combine chord work with single note runs. I've been fighting it for years. Appreciated.

Incredibly useful and very well explained. Thanks for giving me some focus while I'm stuck at home.
What an amazing looking guitar. I have a green Schecter semi hollow but damn.... kinda want that now
It's the best green guitar I've seen. Loving it!
Nice lesson with a nice guitar by a nice guy!
What another nice comment.
Very insightful video, my friend! I love anything that encourages players to expand beyond just the basic pentatonic patterns. Break out of the Box!!!

I had to teach it twice!
Nice one, thanks man. Great tips to shake some bad habits.
Always happy to help!
Some really helpful concepts.
Nice!
Thanks Swaggercat!
That was a helpful lesson. As to fretboard markers, have ever thought about wig inlays? Good look for the Paul Reed Smith SD Custom.

Very helpful tutorial. 👍🤘🎸

Played a long time but you just taught me some things🎸😎
Thanks for the awesome lesson! Nice no pick work! How about a lesson in the style of Dan Auerbach?

Sometimes I wish I was a guitar fretboard so I could get some action.
But if you were a guitar higher action would not be a good thing.

Thanks so much for not leaving out those of us with bat inlays. ;)
Couldn't forget ya :)
How many D'Angelicos do you have? I love the color on that one.
I have 3 now! My faves!
Great vid dude.
Anymore DADGAD in the works? Hope so ~ thanks
Will do.
@@seandaniel23 thank you ~ much appreciated.
Its the first note of the opening riff of No Rain
Excellent. But , also , please-
More drums ! More keyboards 🎹!!
Hmmmm ¿ any recordings of you playing all 3 or more instruments. ?
Opening line is sooo funny.
That reminds me of a Gretch guitar.
Do you have one of those? I think their sound would fit your playing well!
I don't have a Gretsch, but it does have that kind of look/feel.
what's the neck shape like on that thing?
It's a slim C shape
If you do, how do you write vocal harmonies?
Honestly that's not really my forte.
@@seandaniel23 Fair.
A simple way is to take the main melody and raise it by a third (one string up, one fret back).
Surely it depends what key you are in. That note might be great in Am but not so great in another key.
Sean, shame on you for having a beautiful guitar....LOL it truly is a beauty. Great lesson, thank you.
