Factual And Special!! A Brilliant 6!! Walt Disney World's EPCOT Center has been one of many valuable attractions at the park since 1983. A Brilliant 12!! Any Questions?
@BearHogan Really?! Jeez, what a piece of work Walt was. I am an enormous Disney fan, have been since I was four years old, but it seems to me that in some cases, Walt was letting his racism screw up his great ideas. Thank goodness, that whites-only EPCOT never came about!
@RETROGEMS i didn't mean to be rude, but i am very frustrated in the people who go around trolling on Disney. i'm not saying you are, just "BearHogan" is, and i am heartbreoken that people would do that and make people believe it.
@npsalm121 Don't call me names. I don't even know you, and I'm getting a little sick of total strangers on this website coming out of the woodwork thinking they can be disrespectful to other total strangers because of the anonymity of the internet. I have been a Disney fan for 20 years and I love the legacy of animation that Walt created. But just because I admire a man's work doesn't mean I don't think he has flaws. I've read other material and watched documentaries illustrating his prejudice.
@BearHogan Walt actually touted the community of tomorrow to be "free of crime"...somehow that got twisted into a racial "white only" urban legend that was never true at all...
@bradsdadg -- You think you're going to read that in some book? I worked with Disney in Anaheim and in Orlando for over 20 years. I know Disney relatives who have confirmed this story. Prove to me it's not true.
BearHogan please don't believe everything you hear. I am a lifelong Disney history dork and I can tell you that that is simply not true. Walt was many things, good and bad, but a bigot was not one of them.
@BearHogan This is total BS, so stop going around and making incredibly false claims that would be very damaging to the image and reputation of a man who gave nothing but his blood, sweat and tears to simply entertain ALL races. I worked for Disney a hell of a lot longer than YOU and knew (and still know) family members as well while working during the "glory" days at the studios in Burbank and this is absolutely BS.

look how far epcot has come since the beginning
HAPPY 30TH ANNIVERSARY TO EPCOT CENTER AT THE WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT 1982-2012!
I wish Disney had stuck with the original no characters in EPCOT plan.
who sings that version of when you wish upon a star at the beginning?
