They do have a different texture. A little chewy a little crunchy. I like to bite off the little sucker cups. There wonderful chewy not like the body where it’s so thick. It’s thin so still stays tender.

I remember visiting Kamakura many years ago, since it’s so close to my mom’s hometown of Ofuna, but I don’t remember that many street food stalls. I love love love shirasu and dango! That shirasu taiyaki and tamago yaki.....OMGEEE! My son would love the yaki ika. I caught a little glimpse of what looked like grilled ayu on the stick next to the ika-which is what I remember most about Nikko, and absolutely love. Thank you so much for sharing!! I love your street food videos! I cannot wait for our trip to Japan.......☺️
Oh, you went during Tanabata! I imagine Kamakura must be extra nice during this holiday. Last time I went there was when I was a kid. The ajisai dango was so pretty with such a great flavor combination. Shirasu makes visual sense in taiyaki, and it sounds kind of tasty too. Thanks so much for this food tour! The bread from the “hot dog” is a type of Chinese steamed bun, usually it is eaten with Peking duck in between, but you can eat it plain or with other things too. :)

That grilled squid had my mouth watering. Also, the small eight appendages of the squid that have all the suckers all the way down are called arms (like octopodes) and the two long appendages that have a cluster of suction cups on only the tips are called tentacles :)
Adding this to my list of things to do next Japan trip! I am really looking forward to trying shirasu, and that squid looks amazing! Hungrier than ever now!~

Love watching the diversity in street foods everywhere you go. Poor Shinichi has a summer stomach (too hot, so your body naturally consumes less). Can tell it's super humid and hot since your hair isn't usually as flat (stay hydrated). I look forward to your upcoming videos.

Why is that? I've never had fresh squid and the squid I've had didn't have any tentacles. Are the tentacles more tender?
