Hewie, you are a PRINCE!!! You kept me from having a heart attack. FINALLY got my two Brother printers working with my ASUS chromebook, as a result of your fine instructions. I followed your directions step by step and YAAAAAYYY. No one else had the solution following google cloudprint departure. THANK YOU MIGHTILY!
Best video I've seen on this subject. I've had so many problems in the past trying to connect a printer to my chromebook. I have been without one for years! This video has given me the courage to buy a new printer and try again. THANK YOU!
BLESS YOU HEWIE!!! I had absolutely no idea Google chrome was going to do this. Luckily I was able to catch this whole fiasco before school started for me or else I would’ve had a meltdown. Again thank you so much for making this video. It really did SAVE ME!!
Bought a USB cable for my Canon G3200. The printer is detected on my chromebook but no drivers found. I try different drivers similar but nothing prints out !!! Any Ideas? Will it work on a router ?
Sir, I have a smart tv as well as android phone but not able to install printer...does not recognize but it's a new printer Cannon PIXMA 2522. I'll try the Chromebook.
Help. I have a 2018 Acer Chromebook. I uninstalled Cloud print. Connected my new HP deskjet 4155 with a usb connect. HP says ready to print. When I try to print preview pops up, and destination. There is no way to change destination?? I just goes round and round. any help will be appreciated.
We were hopeful, created our test printer (with destination) and a piece of paper came out of printer but nothing was "typed" on page. Any one have any idea why nothing appears? Martha
My brother gave me a a Chromebook, last month, I went to go buy a Canon PIXMA 2522and the Chromebook won't recognize, the printer, what do I do.. it's. Not a wireless printer... USB cord. I've tried everything.. nothing works..
I did some research for you and from Canon's Tech Support page, "Since Google has discontinued Cloud Print, you would need to connect the printer to a Windows or Mac computer. There is no driver or software that can be installed on a Chromebook." So, it appears that it will not work.
Hi Hewie. My Canon MG2950 no longer works with my chromebook with wifi without cloud print. Are you saying that it will if i connect the two with a USB cable instead ?
@@sirbey9608 No gave up and bought an HP which is working fine. Now i am being told that i should buy a new chromebook as I will not get anymore security updates from Google, not impressed.
@@leshenley3785 I have been using the same HP DeskJet 842C printer since 2000. It still work great after 22 years. I just plug the USB cord of the printer into my $119 Chromebook & print. Simple!
I have a Brother HL2040 laser printer. USB cable connected to the chromebook, no detection ? How can I print on my ASUS cheomebook Thanks. ITs a USB only printer
I did some checking. While Dymo has an Android app, and my Chromebook does not say that it isn't compatible (intentional double negative), the app has not been updated since 2017 and the reviews say that it doesn't work. If you already own a Dymo Label printer, it should not hurt to try the app, but don't go out & buy either expecting it to work.
I think my Chromebook and my Canon Pixma 452 are very old . My IP address is listed as : MAC address and it is numbers and letters separated by semi-colons. I think the Chromebook doesn't accept the MAC address. Since then I've been trying to connect it with an A - B cord but even that doesn't work. I'm at my wit's end. I don't even know what to buy to be able to print. It really limits what I can do with my Chromebook without being able to print.
Take a look at these 2 articles. epson.com/Support/wa00901 and www.wikihow.com/Add-a-Printer-to-Google-Chromebook . Check the support site of your Chomebook manufacturer. Also just Google "Chromebook [model number] to Canon Pixma 452" and see what results you get. Be careful. there are a lot of bad people who may ask to sign into a site or download something to get answers. Skip those.

It may not be compatible. help.brother-usa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/153314/~/google-chromeos-compatibility
Thanks , I will check for compatibility.
So this printer is not on Google’s compatibility list. Thanks for your help
@@hewiep - That may be my problem, but I was told using a USB cable to hook it manually will make any printer work. That might not be true.
This does not seem to work with a Canon MX 922 printer
Will this work with a Dymo thermal printer?

Your IP address will be 4 sets of numbers each separated by a period. For instance :
192.168.254.21
