I took a friend to the SOULWAXMAS show a few days before christmas (years ago) where 2manydjs played afterwards. When they did NY excuse he screamed to me over the noise.. oh my god they are playing THIS song from Justice. I screamed back No, dude.. this IS them. Justice remixed THESE guys. What an epic moment.
For anybody who cares, there was a soulwax doc and when they were recording the song, one of the brothers was dating the chick from lcd soundsystem, who was overseas in NY at the time. They needed vocals for the song, so they made the record company fly them to NY so his gf could do the vocals (but he really just wanted to see her)
just re-checked on wikipedia, you are right ;) i looked at the single release (2005) but didn't see that it has been released on the album "Any Minute Now" in 2004 already
Damn that's pity, cause you should regret more see them on live stage, THIS was really amazing, I went there and it was one of the most brilliant concert I ve ever seen!
If you watch the Soulwax documentary 'Part of the weekend never dies' Nancy Whang (vocals on this track) explains this song is about her boyfriend David Dewaele (of Soulwax) wanted an excuse to come see her in New York while they were working on the album so he asked her to do vocals on this tune they had made! :)
perhaps Soulwax made a cover from another song from back in the 80´s? Can´t find much about that on the internet though, but is very well possible. A part of the voices (I said I can shout! You don´t have to shout at me?! Well stop making me then!) can also be found in another track from BT, I believe BT - Superfabulous. That makes me think it´s a cover or they at least used a sample from the 80´s :-). Soulwax however is from the 90´s + new millenium.
any minute now came out in aug 04 nite versions sep 05, these are uk release dates. criminally ignored band who have the midas touch with every genre they try.
In 2008, the global Development Assistance Committe spent nearly a 120 billion USD on aid for developing countries, countries that will price the first world out of the market should their level of development ever reach a sufficiently high relative level.
Justice version is good, but this one is a little better. It has more staying power while the Justice remix gets old kinda fast. Both are jammy for sure though.
Excente video... pero no sólo se desperdicia dinero y tiempo en Nueva York, eso pasa en todas las ciudades del mundo... contexto absurdo, los humanos así somos.

Brian LaFeve Nancy Whang

The song that introduced me to Soulwax. My life won't be the same after listening to this.
Justice' live remix of this goes fucking mental
Yes :)
Right?!
@@Seastack11 if only I could've seen them live back in those days
Nah check out the DFA remix
So this is where Justice got the material... Discovering the origins of a remix by accident are great!
We need updated numbers for present day, Soulwax.
i remember this song!!! i always loved it. thanks for sharing!!
This comment has the same age as me
@@jesuscm1398 hahaha

IDEMOOO! FANTAZIJA!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊Pozitivna energija na maximum
I just don’t understand how this song which I’ve never met anyone else who knows about has 1.5 million views. And it only has 262 comments rn
Is it because people listen to it on yt music? Anyway I love it
Such an amazing video, captures their point about the evils of consumerism possibly better than any Dada-esque video of its type.
Coming home from the club, always looking for excuses
The sound of Belgium...
just re-checked on wikipedia, you are right ;) i looked at the single release (2005) but didn't see that it has been released on the album "Any Minute Now" in 2004 already
Hot damn I miss 2004
This is the excuse!! That we're making!!
Is it good enough?! For what you're paying?!
[ITA] è un video davvero straordinario, e ci sta da dio sulla canzone, ti mette anche tristezza però e fa riflettere parecchio... Mitici
Powerful video

soulwax is the best ever! and 2manydjs too!
I regret being born in 2001 so i could've heard this when it was released. Amazing.
Be glad you hear it now
You will be happy to know it sounded just as good back then as it does now.

New best song ever
That part that their playing in black and white on the grass is from 'see emily play' (Pink Floyd).
Great clip!
I really like the song and think this video states clear, true facts about America and the world in general.
Fantastic song and a video that really make's you think. Brilliant!. x

Talk about underrated... Soulwax.
Yes!
This is a banger from way back.
ahhhh this video is amazing
not only the song is awesome here, but the video too
I just luv this song i could listen to it for hrs!!
Such a classic song! Is this the official video? If so, I like it! There's something very late 1950's / early 1960's about it. Rock and roll, Soulwax!
Fuck off adverts. I don't need to be sold Russian vodka by an American. I'm trying to chill.
atleast you got vodka, i got a promo for The Voice -.-
Кто-то сказал водка?
Slayer Jesse I think those two go very well together.
Siana Gearz а как же водка?(
But is it enough? awsomeness? i call revolution for this song.
I had never seen/heard the original of this song till now, only the justice remix!
I really like this song but is this a new music video
Maybe I just listened to it. That was enough
excellent video.
though it makes me feel powerless.
TDU nostalgia hits hard

Yup, BelgianMusic is correct, what is Veleska on about/on?
Ce clip a une autre tournure depuis la crise!...
Great track , great facts , great message im totally satisfied with it :P
one of my favorites.

this song is pretty sweet, i also like soulwax' song called Another Excuse...
This song made me vegetarian for like 3 months when I was 16
Some things never change
That's a excuse
@phylotidees what happened is they had the label pay for THEM TO TRAVEL TO NEW YORK!!!
get it straight.
i have the 12" to the nite version of this song, says it was pressed in '85
it's solwax 🔥
I'd only heard the Justice remix of this, I didn't realise how drastically different the original song was
wonderful video
Funny thing is that he uploaded it in 2006, just two years after the release. (amazon states that it is released in august 2004)
The Notorious KEN
whaaa belgium rules!
keep up the good work guys!
is it the same director for all the clips of soulwax ? who is he ?
To the politicians. This is the excuse that you're making. It's not good enough for what we're paying!
my freaking god, soulwax kick ass
Gotta get in my car and drive to buy...brugers, pizza and ice cream! For my pets!
Justice definatly did it justice
This feels like GTA IV although wasn't in GTA IV
no, the version, which made for Test drive unlimited ... that is the best :)

cleverly made!
this is really from the hands of the members of soulwax, justice likes to use it in their shows
how did justice get such a clean sample from this song?
heerlijk nummer
Good video!
This video is so awsome x)
Is it official video?

puur belgisch=D
i think there prob refering to the lipps inc sample being older than them
I'm getting loud with you!
Same goes for me... I mean nothing can top E talking, but still, this is a close second:)
that ain't what they've told me. It's Steph who wanted to go to his girlfriend in the US, "he had to go for a song" so that was the excuse...
:) I've noticed Classic Soviet Polyvox synthesizer in this video)
the drums in this song are the drums Justice use ... (well the one they were using for their cross stuff)
c'est brillant...

Does anybody know who the girls voice on this song is?
Nancy Whang from LCD sound system
WOOOOO JUSTICE
I was referring to the description and tag of this video "older than me" & "80's", not to Veleska.
reminds me of the music video to Madonna's Get Stupid
And from Belgium !!!
buenísimo!!
