- The airbrush paintings are his old works that were used in Prometheus. The pen sketches are some of the new designs.
you will see his conceptuals for The Deacon, Hammerpeeds, Babyhead (Fifiled monster), etc
In the Prometheus Collector's Edition they have a minimovie called "Gigeresque", where his input to the film is showcased.

I have never heard music so hilariously out of place.
I still feel the inside of the original (as in "Alien") derelict craft looks the best. A small detail I noticed - the floor (on the derelict in Prometheus) is clean and smooth - in Alien it is as worked out as the walls and ceeling. Thats usually how you can spot a designer with a keen eye - if the floor looks good, chances are the rest of it will look good to.

The original concept is from the 70's . Geeze.
It's also a good choice of track, being that it makes Giger's artwork and designs seem even more ahead of their time. Often hard to believe that during A L I E N this is the sort of stuff you'd have heard on the radio.

'' inspired by " they had to use Giger but instead "Directors "with their Egos wouldn't allow it and therefore the results are there for All to see.

I adore Giger, but from what I watched on the Prometheus blu-ray it seems to me that Ridley Scott really wanted to work with Giger, but Giger didn't have his heart in it.
They ended up using paintings Giger did 30 to 40 years ago and a few sketches that looked like they took an hour to do.
Compare that with the new biomechanical artists featured on the DVD; Dozens of digital paintings and 3D sculptures that look just amazing as Giger's Alien and Dune works.
I think Gigers still bitter.
I just watched "Prometheus" for the umpteenth time today. Fan-spam in a can-tastic!
some of this stuff was drawn up by him for Jodorowsky's Dune.
Giger may be a real creeper but you can't deny his unbelievable talent and originality. I love his art as much as it creeps me out:/
I turned off audio after 30 seconds for obvious reasons and strongly recommend you guyz to do the same !! it's a pain in the bloody ass...the rest is quite interesting though...

My three all time favorite artists are Roger Dean of Yes album cover art, H.R. Giger and Bob Ross.
Giger was brought on a little late, plus he's retired
he did about 50 or so sketches though
I'm sure he wasn't "put to work" but more honored on set through his old stuff

I remember when watching the movie in the cinema, I was pointing out Giger's art all the time while going "EHRRMAHGHERRD!!"

yea, most of it's unused stuff from earlier films. but ironically Prometheus had the greater quantity of giger designs than any other film, yet giger didn't have to do hardly any new work. just did a couple of loose pen sketches babam paycheck. It's nice that they brought him on the set though. all of the other Alien directors ignored Giger, but never Ridley.

The engineer facility/temple was actually from 1 of Giger's drawings for Dune I think it was. I like that they used that cus I think Ridley originally intended to use it in Alien. I luv that Ridley brought Giger bk and wanted sum of his input, the only trouble was they'd just left it too damn long. Anyway I'd luv for the sequel if Ridley reveals the engineers species name as Necronim, in honor of Giger.

Almost none of this is Prometheus exclusively, and just about everything here comes from stuff Giger designed for other movies--Dune and Poltergeist 2--that Prometheus coopted.

Yeah that makes sense, I think the deacon mural in the giant head chamber came from his sketches.
If I had my way he would've designed everything on LV-223.

well ridlei is quite conscious of the fact that his second feature film (alien) wouldn't have been successful if it wasn't for giger's work... which perfectly fitted ridley and o'bannon an shusett wishes... it wasn't pure gimmick like alien 3 where producers carved 'giger' as main designer and let fincher do the main stuff (damn fox liars)

Gigers work has soul..all the conceptual work done at these FX studios looks transparent, uninspiring, imitation. Giger should have been designing nearly the entire film (when it came to bio-mechanics,alien technology..etc. Only thing i though was done nicely was the Engineers out of their space travel suits. Nobody is going to breath life into Alien bio-mechanics like HR Giger. 20th Century Fox and Amalgamated Dynamix actually tried to fuck over Giger on Alien 3. Giger filed suit, sued and won.

Amazing that a lot of prople still think it was a prequel to Alien - which it was,nt. The whole " Chariots of the Gods " thing made a lot of Alien fans cringe - including me. Great efx though and I loved the Prometheus ship.

I am sick and tired of watching alien covenant. When will David arrive at the planet with all of his frozen humans. Preparing them to become Alien host. It's time to get the show on the road today is November 11th 2020. Everyone needs more alien awakening.
