Hope you find it useful! Let me know in the comments section what help you need! I am filming some tips tomorrow so need some inspiration
Hi Alex could you do low fade, draw lessons for hybrid as I occasionally need to use these when playing but I tend to hit top of ball
Hi Alex, your explanation of shallowing the club that you did here is amazing. I tried it just now in my office and I have to say I a can't wait to get out on the course and try it! Could please include an explanation using a mid iron possibly? Like a 7, 8 or even 9 iron, I am either having a good driver day or a good iron day if that makes sense. Thanks for the videos and and the constant content I appreciate it.
Love your videos! Maybe some break 80 videos.
Hey Alex, any suggestions and/or drills for hitting irons with the ball above or below your feet. My iron play is fine on the fairway but struggle not standing flat.
Leslie King was teaching this technique sixty years ago. I think there was a book or booklet detailing his teaching method called " The end to trial and error golf". This may have something to do with how old time golfers had to swing the club back in the day of hickory shafts that were very flexible. A too aggressive body turn would make the club head uncontrollable. Interesting to see that modern golfers are coming back to some of the old time fundamentals. Thanks.
I tried the feet together drill works really well. Now I will give this new drill tomorrow. Thanks a bunch.
Great video. I have used both methods and here is my experience:
I am currently using the more "complicated" method of dumping the clubhead with the wrists and turning hard. I went to this method about a year ago because under pressure my transition would get fast and I felt it better insured a shallow path. While my strikes have improved some my directional dispersion is much worst. Its gets even worst when I try to take something off a club. I hate that I often miss directionally on short irons. I plan to go back to the method you describe and I like the shoulder/pocket keys to get my feel back. A couple of things that I found important when I used this method in the past 1) a flat to bowing wrist at the top (obviously depending on your grip) 2) keeping your right elbow pointed down at the top (presetting at address - pointing at your stomach). A training aid like "The Hanger" might be useful with this shallowing approach to get the right wrist angles. Thanks!!!
Another good video and exactly what I am working on. You spoke too soon re the weather it is absolutely pouring down in Lancashire - over 10mm overnight. No golf today! What I would like you to cover is the punch shot for approach irons to green when wind against. I find that I end up following through too much as the momentum carries me through to a full finish and if I try and stop early I seem to chunk it. Please could you advise - thank you! Keep up the good work and see you tomorrow!
Just got back from the range and this helped so much. Was hitting them much straighter. Now to take that onto the course.
This is great stuff, easy to understand, great visual! Thank you Alex! Kinda wanna skip this afternoon's work and head to the range!
Such a simple video to follow. No gimmicks. One of your best for sure. Great info and so easy to understand
Glad it was helpful!
Same thought also promotes good side bend! I have always thought about keeping back to target longer, and then adding side bend as two different swing thoughts. Keeping left shoulder behind ball thought has great benefits for me on all my full swing clubs. My favorite kind of tip is a simple one that replaces more than multiple swing thoughts. Many thanks.
Incredible lesson sir. Thank you!
I actually just used this drill yesterday while I was on the course… I was topping the ball and it help tremendously.
Loved the shoulder position tip💗
Back to target and high hands seems to be a theme I need to work on for driver and irons…when I turn like this at home it feels natural and powerful. I need to work on this on the range to build it into my unconscious memory for the course and have the confidence..I’m 6.7 handicap and already hit the ball pretty well but this feels like a piece of the jigsaw that is missing. Thanks as ever Alex for simple teaching.
No worries, hopefully this will help you
Brilliant, thanks for answering my question Alex. Great explanation. I'm heading to the range as soon as I can 👌👍
Another excellent presentation and delivery Alex..Yet again very useful take away points here as I for one struggle with that driver swing and consistency to say the least. Cheers!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tip!! Can't wait to try it out. I always had problems with the driver.
And it works with the irons too!
Thanks Alex. I can really relate to what you said in this video. Now I will put it into practice.
You got this!
Great stuff Alex
LOL. I love that bad shallowing demo in the beginning, reminds me vaguely of a really bad disco move, or else some variant to Right Said Fred (I'm too sexy for my swing). Thumbs up. Once saw a short video where Ernie Els described the same feel... just the feel of dropping the club from P4 first and nothing else.
This was a very helpful lesson. I understand this tip. Finally. Thanks
Great to hear!
Thank you for this tip/session, Alex. You just saved me $160 golf lesson. My driver swing has been AWOL and no You Tube videos were helping me until now. I was simply not “turning” as you emphasize in this video. Still need to practice timing but overall contact and distance has greatly improved.
love this!!
One of the best vids ever!! Dropping or not dropping ? That’s the question. But not anymore for me now! Thanks 🙏 from France !
Another great simple tutorial 👌 👏 👍
Thank you! Cheers! I hope it helps John!
Hi Alex, your chanel is awesome. I play golf about 20 years and HcP 18. Driver Clubspeed 95 mph carry 220 yards. Your videos are so helpfull for me. Short and on the point. Absolutly great Job. Thanks a lot. Great from swiss, Alexander
Something wrong somewhere mate. I swing at 90 and carry 220. So with an extra 5mph you should be able to carry further. You hit straight, a draw or fade? How close to the center of the driver?
Thanks 👍
Great video! I used to imagine I was throwing the club head underhand towards the target, but this is simpler.
Glad it helped!!
I needed this lesson. Very well explained. Thank you Alex
Thanks so much Alex for this lesson and many others!!
Thank you Alex! However i am curious how this will affect the natural release as u r now minipulating the club head manually during the drop which interferes w the physics of the simple release (loose wrists etc).
Great tips👍
Another great video! Thanks Alex!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Well explained
Great video! I enjoy the simple setup you explained. On a side note, playing Mottram next week... What's the course condition like?!
Yeah the course is in great condition!
Alex - maybe I am missing something, bit this is contrary to letting the feet lead. Not sure I'd be able to get this hips cleared ahead of my arms. For me, I fire the hips before I'm at the top of my back swing. This really engages the core and allows for a powerful release. My focal point after firing the hips is yanking the left shoulder away from the ball while extending out through the ball. tons of power. thoughts?
True!
@@AlexElliottGolf is this different things for different swing types?
This actually genius. I've filmed myself so many times and can't understand how to shallow the club. But I'm firing the hips first... New swing thought it lower arms first
Shallowing has caused me nightmares all last season way too many options none worked. Tried this in a Sim worked great and got two benefits left shoulder behind ball so I completed backswing and dropping hands into right pocket stopped over the top and shallowed club!! Yippee ty best Utube video!
Glad I could help
Alex you can use this approach for irons as well?
Yes i like to!
Hey Alex
Hello from Georgia, home of the Masters this week!!
How about a video of you playing 9 or 18 holes!!
Love the tips , but would really like to see you play 18
Thank you !!
Oh Lordy!!! That is simple power!
very instructive
Thank you!
Hi I’ve been struggling with that I’ll try that move cheers
Thx, for sharing. I look forward to trying this.
Hope you enjoy
Thank you for another awesome golf lesson! 😍👏👏👏
Our pleasure!
Hey Alex - love the channel and great content. I'm new to golf (9 months in), and I like the stack and tilt swing method as it seems to keep things very simple with all the moving parts of a swing. What's your opinion of it?
Thanks! And yes, a lot of my clients use this with great success so i would say yes go for it 🙌🏼
Hi Alex Love your tips but as a left hander I do find it confusing sometimes. Front arm and back arm would make my viewing so much better so if you could would you please try and incorporate this into your tips. Once again love your short tips. Thank you from a lefty.
Great Advice drill tips
Great video thanks for sharing the information.🇨🇦
My pleasure!
Great video, very easy to understand and try to replicate..... I definitely turn before I drop and I don't feel like I'm rotating enough in my backswing.... I'm 6'5" so my flexibility isn't the greatest which causes me to lose a lot of power... If I picture a baseball field I feel like my back is turned to about 3rd base and it also feels as if I regrip the club (glove hand) in my backswing where the butt of the club slides more into the palm about a quarter of an inch.... With my swing in particular, the longer my backswing, the more my wrists start to unhinge which may have to do with poor back rotation.
Great to hear! Thank you so much!!!
@@AlexElliottGolf UPDATE…. I integrated the swing tip today into my pre-shot routine where I bring the hands down to my pocket [pause] then follow through and had one of my best ball striking rounds ever…. Just 2-4 practice swings before I hit and it made a huge difference. Definitely needed it today with 20mph winds and 41° outside…. My body just automatically replicated the feel so I didn’t need to think about it
Hi Alex. Just subscribed. Is this drill mainly for the driver or all clubs in the bag. Thanks
thank you !! and yes 🙌🏼
Hi Alex season starts soon. Can you do a video on bunker shots out of “heavy” sand! We don’t have the fluffy white sand at our course. Ty keep up the great work
Yes course!
Nice one alex 👏 😊
Glad you liked it
Hey Alex, you are the best!!! What is the name of the electronic tracking device behind you that you use a lot in your videos?
Thank you! and it’s called full swing
Great !
Hi Alex! I'm nearly 68! Forget about this backswing!
😊 Thanks to you my handicap is dropping. I am getting further with my driver and keeping in the fairway. My short game continues to improve all thanks to watching your youtubes. Can you help me with reading greens and deciding on a grip for putting. Would love a hole in one .... maybe one day thank you😊
Brilliant 🙌🏼🙌🏼 yes for sure i will try and cover this
I am with you. Alex's tips are getting my handicap down. I am still struggl8ng with the driver but only started to hit it after Alex's tips i was always using a hybrid off the tee before. The short game is way better. The Y method helped me a lot!
Great and helpful video! How about going over this with irons as well?
Appreciate it!! Works exceptionally good for irons too!
Hey Alex, does this move apply to irons and fairway clubs?
yeah you can certainly try
Hi Alex, does anything need to change if you can't achieve a full turn on the back swing? I'm a 78yo who's played for some years but lately find my shoulder turn is restricted to perhaps 70 - 80° which seems to cause an out to in swing and at best a fade but sometimes a slice.
I love your simple approach to the mechanics but my limitations are frustrating the life out of me.
I wouldn’t say so, i like to flare the left leg to help with rotation, so this may help if you aren’t able to achieve a full backswing, nevertheless to be playing golf at 78 is incredible, give yourself some credit and don’t put too much pressure on yourself Bob 🙌🏼 you are doing a great job
Thanks Alex .You didn’t forget the lefty’s again👍
Always!
What about all the advice that the downswing begins from the ground up? I agree this makes a lot more sense.
Subbed. Very helpful. Thank you
Thank you 🙏🏼
Okay bro, off to my simulator and incorporate your latest and greatest approach to improve lag - can't wait to make timing adjustments and nail the ball.
Hope this helps 🙌🏼
I couldn't find anything on fairway woods..I am struggling hard on my second shot on the par 5's....any advice?
th-cam.com/video/G1imhqRniaI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KV14ZIX9QUpz896- Here you go
my god i need a CONSISTENT DRIVE! this might be it! and also snow is just gone here in Finland too, the season is starting here too! got to give seom TIME to myself, usually i want everything work "right now" as i was a teenager!!
When do u shift the weight on front foot? Or, it happens naturally as you turn?
yeah naturally 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Alex. I am miss timing the dropping of the hand and the turn.
I remain too far closed and drop kick the club.
Since the downswing only takes a fraction of a second, do I need to start turning when I start to feel the club starting to drop? Thanks as always
Yes that’s right!!
I’m having a hard time making solid contact. Everything feels like I’m clunking the ball. My five iron is going as far as my eight iron.
Just subscribed. Do you have a simple swing tip for us grey beards (senior golfers) 😁
welcome to the team!!!
Gold 🎉
Appreciate it!!
Tips on chipping from around the green to get up and down?
100% keep your eyes on the videos
I'm new to golf I'm 6.5 at hit to right
Great lesson. I may be wrong but, didn’t you do a video where you showed that you should be dropping down as you swing?
Certainly, i like to use different approaches so that golfers can try out different things - not every technique works for every golfer
@@AlexElliottGolf I understand. Thank you for the clarification, and keep those GREAT videos coming.
Off point but...Great looking glove. Whats the brand? Always good tips Alex. Appreciation and have a day!
Just in case Alex doesn't see your post, he replied to someone else, Vice golf.
Vice!
What driver and golf ball are you using for this video?
vice and taylormade qi10
Lucky ya !! Who can play golf im April !! :)
thank you!! and where did u get that green glove?
I got it from Vice golf!! ⛳️
Is this move the same with your irons ?
you can certainly try
Can you do a very basic, but detailed video for beginners on where to put the ball in your stance for each club ? Like actually set up and take a hit with every club in your bag?
yeah course!
Can you feel as though you’re doing a little squat leaving your hands behind then turning in transition from back to forward swing
Yeah definitely!
It looks like it all happens all within a split second of each other, which in reality it does...
I'm working with my coach on the lower half rotation and the feeling of leaving my head behind, so I don't think I should start adding this move at the moment..
Is it safe to say that this move only applies to a certain amount of people that need this movement as apposed to their over the top slicey swing move, but how are those people going to know that this is the right move for them??
Can't agree more. Dislike the shallow videos others are shilling. It should be more natural! Justin Rose and Ernie Els have talked about this too. Good enough for me.
I hope this helps
Hi is there a way I can message you privately for a lesson so I know where your based and how much you charge, really like the way you explain things on your videos simplifying them and explaining the feels really well, this works really well for me and think I would massively benefit from some one on one from yourself if possible, will try this at the range definitely I’ll let you know how I get on 👍
Hi - Please email me alex@alexelliottgolf.co.uk - I can address all of this for you
@@AlexElliottGolf thank you
Same idea for all clubs?
For all clubs! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Imma gonna be singing “hand in my pocket” by Alannis morrisette while swinging away
Alex, just left the range with this lesson in my head: crushed crushed crushed my drives. Thank you
I have to really remember to drop the hands straight down or everything goes out the window. I see why Justin Rose and other pros make that practice move a lot
Yes exactly. I know what video you are on about
Oh thank God you said this. I've been saying this lately. And getting abuse from some teachers
Putting 3 & 4 footers
Practice routines
Hey Alex early in season I dropped 10 hits with your tips, now the bad habits seem to be back
Keep going Mike! It has to be somthing you keep
On top off! I hope that this helps you
I think it is my take away
Back to basics, I was hitting great drives for weeks, then all at once I was all over the place
when was this filmed, i havent seen the sun for 6 months.lol.
last week
Why can’t it be so easy for me!? 😭. Nice easy swing at 255+ I would take it.
If I believed half your videos I would now have a negative handicap🤣
😁
I just Imagine I'm skimming a stone across water and apply to my swing so it feels natural.
Like this idea!!💡
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👌👍
Tip number 1: Wear a gardening glove
Good video but pleeeease fix the audio clipping. Makes it really hard to listen to.
not sure what you mean sorry
I don't agree. You turn first and that brings the arms down. I saw another video you did that said start with the knees. You said that's what the pros do.
Don't shallow club, here's how to shallow club
What’s half of zero? 😏
I have to make a point. If the baseball swing was broken down the way the golf swing is then it would have been so difficult to coach little league players, high school and legion. I've done it for 20 years. And we taught them grip, stance, load up, how to keep the bat in the zone and weight shift. All basic. You practice and you just keep getting better. I have learned that the golf swing is simple as well. Grip, stance, slot, wrist hinge and weight shift. Most importantly the shoulders. Especially the right shoulder down not around. If you show pro golfers from behind it's pretty easy to see what they're doing and you can figure it out. I did. But you guys I guess it's nice you give your time but I think you not specifically but all the teachers on here do more damage than good by putting so much information out there. Everyday you see the best secret, What nobody tells you, My game became great when I learned this. People are thinking instead of playing. Certain positions are a by product of what you do in the swing. You guys know it's very simple but I guess you have to do your thing. There are just a few who keep it that way. Even when the older pros explain the swing they keep much more simple than you guys do.
I understand what you’re saying. I’m a newbie who is trying to learn but haven’t even bought my golf set yet. (I have played a few times with loaned clubs) I find both helpful. I think we need the simple pointers as well as the super technical. Another big part of it is this is TH-cam. They have to create content to grow their channel.
🏌🏌🏌🏌🏌🏌🏌🏌🏌🏌
From 10 to 5. I don't think so.
From 30 to 15 maybe
Looks horrific. The little finger side of the left hand control the club in the takeaway; and, the index finger side of the hand controls the club in the start of the downswing
Tomorrow you and others will come up with more secrets, new things and ways to swing the club etc etc lol
Game changers for sure!
Great hope you enjoy themn
Seriously, there are “golf influencer” trying to give lessons shallowing with the wrist all bent and crippled and it’s quite ridiculous.
I’m a PGA coach and Top 50 world coach within the Golf monthly certification. Thanks!
@@AlexElliottGolf sorry for any confusion but I certainly wasn’t referring to you. Love your stuff. You’re certified gold 🙌
