I just sprayed my cabin filter with Chemical Guys Stripper scent a couple monthes ago and everytime I turn on the AC/recirc, I get a fresh blast of the scent, a top tip of the day.
this new Fram interior filter so far is great, they get trashed quickly with all the construction every day in NY, you see the filters they do not last long
Thank you for making this video, very very helpful. I could not get my glove box all the way down because the tab on the right side is so long I was afraid I was going to break it off but with a few cuts and scrapes I was able to change the cabin filter without taking the glove box all the way down anyway.
Getting the air hose back on the air boxes are difficult especially the one on the right handside because the tabs are angled towards the rear instead of straight down. I find it much easier just to take off the radiator covering (which also covers the intake side of the air boxes towards you) by removing a six or seven plastic clips, and take off the air box on the right handside by removing two bolts (10mm socket wrench). Then lining up the tabs becomes a piece of cake. Bought two factory filters from a Nissan dealership for $50, I figured since air filters are only changed once every 5 years (we drive about 6k miles a year), how much are you really saving by going aftermarket? $35 over 5 year, or $7/year?
To change the engine air filter just remove the guards 10mm socket its not that hard. Also use a 10mm to unbolt one side of the filter box for more play
HELP, I cant get the glove box back into my Q70, 2016...stopped the guy doing my oil change , fear of him breaking something so i said just leave...is there a trick to reinstall? never! nor do i care about cabin filter, so just want my glove box back in, is there a trick? thanks,if you have time to help me/my husband
there are also 2 clips at the bottom of the casing u need to clip in before putting the new filter in or else it doesn't properly close. almost impossible to get those in after u put the new filter in
@@adamc7191Jesus Christ you’re 100% correct on that. I’ve dabbled in automotive repair for 20 goddamn years and those goddamn things are IMPOSSIBLE to put back in. I had to watch like 6 videos, sweat through my clothes, and utter enough profanity to summon a demon before I got it. Never. Ever. Again.
Man, are you kidding? The fucking filter on the passenger side unbelievably hard to change cause you don’t have any fucking room there. They should’ve make it much easier
At least Infiniti (NIssan) made it easier to change the cabin filter on the Q50's. It's a real pain in the butt on my 370z. You have to completely disassemble and remove the entire glovebox assembly to get to the cabin filter door. I don't know what the heck Nissan was thinking when they designed that! And if you take it to the dealer, they want $75 to do it. No thanks. I'll do it myself. I was surprised to see your car was a little bit dirty. I know have fanatical (a little pun intended) you are about keeping your vehicles as clean as possible. Must have been your daily driver at the time. My daily is the same way. Clean, but nothing like I keep my 370z. Thanks for the information.
Why does the right side air filter still show the orange part of the filter? Did it not go all the way in and cover the whole filter? The left side is flush. It’s like that for me as well.
every oiled filter i use i always blow out some oil first before installing, learned this way back on Lamborghini and Ferrari's and even the 993 and 996 Porsches use to always have MAF issues with the excess oil.
after market air filter makes mass air flow dirty. fibers get loose from air filter and stick on MAF sensor and all kind of driveability issues. nissan is known for this problem.
I just looked up that cabin filter model for my car. It says that isn't the correct one. I mean Im sure at this point it doesn't matter but just saying
Amazon states the cabin filter doesn’t fit my 2018 Q50 3.0t Luxe. Also Frams website states for 2014-2017. Can you recommend any other cabin filter similar to the one you demonstrated.
it def fits we got our filters locally and the same thing for us Amazon said it did not fit. I highly doubt they have different filters for the different engines that would be silly on Nissan to do that on a mass produced car. the air box filter for the engine of course will vary based one engine size
Hey AF - Have you tried your wheel cleaner in the smaller IK foamer? The wheel cleaner looks great, but I would rather use something smaller than the IK9.
Never use Fram air filter in the Q50. It doesn’t fit in the air cleaner box and will break the bracket. You could see the red gasket in the video even after closing the box. It means the box wasn’t closed. DO NOT use fram air filter.
False, if you notice the oem ones have a black trim and you can see it too if you look closely just doesn’t stand out like the aftermarket ones with a black trim do
Hmm on my 2011 3 series BMW we do it (air filter) every 40K miles. When I removed it the last time, the shop said it was not that dirty, but since they were at it, they did it. After watching your videos on that Q50, I would stay away from the Nissan/Infiniti cars.
Thanks, that was super helpful! Beats paying over $300 at the dealer.
Thank you. I got an oil change today and the dealership wanted 90 bucks just for the two air filters. I did all three for under 40 bucks.
good job glad this video helped you out
Oo same well my dad helped me but still 40 dollars not bad

Thanks man, finally a great quality video on air filter replacement on an Infiniti Q50
2:50 speaking of fuel economy what’s your MPG? I’m getting 12 mpg. I don’t abuse it or anything.
Straight to the point, thanks for the video!
You didn’t connect back the shock piece and now your glove box is going to come down really fast
What happened last time? I had oil changed and they put air fiters in backwards and didn't close holder correctly.. my car doesn't seem right now.
Thanks! Didn’t know I needed 2 intake filters

Good video. But can you include in the title the year model and engine size ? Thanks
Do these parts work for a 2020 Infiniti Q50 Base model?

I put i a k+ n filter on my honda ridge line what a difference .
Thanks bro , I replace mine’s yesterday! Along with the maf sensor !
I did my cabin filter without even releasing the glove box perks of having bitch hands lol
What are bitch hands? Never heard of that.

It's too bad you are not keeping the q50 for any longer. Any pointers on the VR30 reliability? I am looking into a used q50 red-sport or 3.0t thanks!
make sure you have a bullet proof warranty in place.
@@autofanaticcars why do you say that, did you have issues?

must be how the plastic is cast no idea but they are in snug and locked in properly.
I was gonna ask about the K&N panel filters. Any bad thoughts on them? Was actually going to purchase one soon.
I have the 3.7L 2015..6ft trq gain and 14hp and yes thats a dynod result.. Same temps etc I can post link if needed
Yup the part store will keep typing QX50 (Truck) in stead of Q50.... I had to go back inside the store 3 times for they got it right.
Ok I can’t seem to get the glovebox to come out

I’ve used K&N for years, never an issue, don’t soak the filter, let it sit for a while after applying oil to filter before installing/using.
are k and n air filter better for Infiniti Q50
For my 3.7L it is not sure about the TT (3.0 twin turbo)

Total Cost of Air intake filters??
Hey AF - Have you tried your wheel cleaner in the smaller IK foamer? The wheel cleaner looks great, but I would rather use something smaller than the IK9.
every small foamer i tested sucks, too much more pumping 100 times or more to do all 4 wheels and it does not foam as well as the IK9.
Hey man is your wheel cleaner available yet?
I have the same question?
Wheel cleaner, wheel cleaner, wheel cleaner hahaha every video someone asks it will be great stuff though haha
Just swapped my out last week 👌👌👌

your nuts they fit perfectly fine
Totally off topic but are you getting the gt500 next year ?
i dont think so, would be totally useless to have that where I live and drive.
Wonder if same for q60 rs
100% im sure these filters are the same for your Q60 RS
Infiniti is really trying to change me 225 to do that😭. Insane
Weird. Amazon's fit checker says it does not fit. Clearly it does. Smh. Ca6900
I swear q60/q50 are a pain in the ass to work with.
I'm on the left side, and the struggle is real 2 hours in
The motor filters are not installed correctly. You shouldn’t be able to see your orange filter after closing the air box.
False, if you notice the oem ones have a black trim and you can see it too if you look closely just doesn’t stand out like the aftermarket ones with a black trim do
Changed both filters under 5 minutes but the dealership just tried to charge $100 to do this 😂😂
smart owner glad this video helped
Take the lens cap out of the camera
no lens cap on the camera it was getting dark out
Thank you, how much money I wasted on car shop, crying........
