Most people seem to be insulting the Kinect, but, speaking as an Electrical Engineer and dabbler in Programming, it's pretty difficult to create a perfectly working Kinect. So many variables, so few constants.
Doesn't change the fact that it sucks. If it that's hard, then don't make it to begin with.

xaultimateax It was faulty because they were playing under michael's name and the kinect recognizes voices to each profile. the kinect was working better for michael because it's programmed to respond to his voice and not other people talking. that's why geoff had a hard time. Not because the kinect sucks.
The Kinect is as good as it can be for now, yes, it's really hard to have precise movements with the Kinect, the problem is that the Kinect shouldn't be used for games that require precision(most good ones).
It can be groundbreaking work, which it is, but as long as it doesn't work how it's supposed to, you can't expect people to accept it and give it thumbs up for effort.

Which is why there are no kinect only games on Xbox One. Its an extra feature games come with just to use it. The main focus of kinect this time around is to use voice contorls outside of games to make your life easier.
I love playing Kinect games. I feel like I'm part of the game. The only time I hate it is when people get in my way and the Kinect would rather watch them.

You realize they where talking at the same time or very close in time to the command, so the Kinect sensed it as conversation rather then a command. Also they said they didn't calibrate it and occasionally Gavin would get behind them and mess with the sensor.
TheVgamer007jk dude stop trying to justify the kinect it sucks the first one did and this one by the looks of it has no changes but more fails. And gaving was sitting at the end of round 1 and it still took for ever to get a shot off.
TheVgamer007jk Which basically eliminates any chance of you playing connect with your friends round. Either that or they have to sit quietly while you play, which ruins the whole point of having your friends round to play games.

That would be hilarious! It wouldn't be too hard to mod, since swear recognition is already in a few games. NBA 2K14 and FIFA 14 recognize swears, and will give you an in game penalty.
Since NBA2K14 fouls you for swearing, I think the AH guys should put Michael in front of a game and film the inevitable rage quit it'll produce

I haven't watched any RoosterTeeth or Achievement Hunter in probably 5 years. I liked the way the videos were when this came out, this is perfect to me. Just the OG dudes playing games. It all got too big for me. Saw peggle in my recommended games on steam. Remembered this video, looked this video up. Supreme nostalgia and now I'm sad.
Love all these people defending the Kinect by saying it just wasn't calibrated. Isn't it a lot easier to just pick up the controller and play?

They should really combine behind the scenes with the actual VS like they did this episode. It makes you more kind into it and more excited about the game to see everyones reaction when shit ACTUALLY happens.
For everyone saying it didn't work as well because there was additional conversation: thats still a major problem for the Kinect. A large amount of gaming happens with multiple people in a room, and if Kinect doesn't work as well in those situations, it isn't as useful.
Plus, having to 'calibrate it' to get it work right is also an issue; I like local multiplayer, and sometimes multiple people need to make commands on the same Xbox.
Still, its substantially improved from the last Kinect.

An uncalibrated Kinect works most of the time for Michael and a few times for Geoff. How good will it be when its actually adjusted for the room?
Just cause Ryan said that doesn't mean it wasn't actually calibrated. He'd been joking during the entire video. We don't actually know. I'd say, chances are, it was calibrated.

Eyeshield If Ryan's going to make a joke you will know by the way he says it. The last time they played a Kinect game on the 360 they didn't even think about adjusting that one and had a hard time playing.
Jorge Carter If you get on a video game that has low sensitivity and has a very bad contrast level then you can't turn well or see anything properly. The Kinect is trying to pick up voices from its preset settings. If it was calibrated, it would know how voices would sound in the room and at what decibel they would be used at.

The kinect was having issues because there were other people talking at the same time. They also did not calibrate it before hand

Yeah, but Kinect is terrible. It something they added to bump up the prices and gave you a DECENT headset, I say decent because its better then the sony one, but your suppose to buy your own headset, so Xbox one. not worth it

john cook So, basically Kinect is only horrible for multiplayer...one of the main selling points of Kinect. That makes a lot of sense.
Sinsults do know that they used single player mode with kinect hence why it was a tad buggy when it was geoffs turn, if they it was proper mutiplay kinect they would have used both there accounts for it, but sayin that havnt tested kinect on mutiplayer so for all i know ur point may still be vaild xD

It doesn't need to be used cause every X-Box user lost their shit when Microsoft tried to force it and the other changes on everyone. They should at least have a package that comes without Kinect cause not everyone wants it.
The reason they put it in with all Xbox1's is because that now that everyone has one, they can add some actually good functionality to it, rather than it just being for shitty arcade like games. It allows them to use the Kinect for cool shit rather than just little novelty games.

5deadspace whether you want it or not, the reason for it being there is so that developers know everyone has one. therefore developers know that everyone can use features like this one in peggle 2, whether you use it is the choose you have. they also force you to have a controller that you don't have to use.
Torrent Mentis I feel they should at least have one that comes without the Kinect (something they will most likely do eventually) because it would hopefully be cheaper. I know the Kinect is not the gimmick it was on the 360 but it's honestly something i would never wanna use and i think it's a little unfair they are not giving people who would feel the same the option of owning a cheaper package of the system without a Kinect!

Totally Agreed. But...Sony isn't packaging the Move with it's console and charging more because of it. If Microsoft wasn't doing that the hate (at least from mentally sound people) would be much less because it's not something being "forced" upon them.
