Finally someone breaks down the bed space. Thank you!!! This thing is perfect for me. Not going to have extra passengers but once in a while. I do want some space to put tools, chainsaw, a small water tank, things like that. But I'll never need a dump bed for gravel, dirt or firewood. That's what the tractor or a small trailer is for.
I appreciate the well thought out review from you sir. My wife and I in the market for a 4 seater that is both fun and safe for us as well as our two kiddos. I do like the 10 yr belt warranty that Yamaha offers as well. The video has given me food for thought as I narrow down the SxS options. Thanks
I agree with you a 100 percent. I currently have a 2019 Kawasaki Teryx 4 , my biggest issue with the teryx is you can not enclose it easily. I live in Canada's western Arctic and you can't scrape vinyl windows. I don't need 4 seats on a regular bases , but it is nicer to have if you do. I just contacted the closest dealer on the rmax 4 le. I would like the adjustable shocks. I am also getting the factory full cab and a heater. Things freeze pretty quickly in the box of the Teryx, and the heated cargo area will be a welcomed addition. I just rescued a senior dog that just turned 7 the first of December. And he loves going on adventures with us. We do a lot of fishing and camping and no way could I go and start leaving him home. And I retire soon and moving to the east coast with the narrow tight trails there. Thanks I enjoyed your video and I don't want a long wheel base 4 seater. My other option was the new Polaris ADV 2 door. But paying the premium price for a Polaris that has so so reliability in the Arctic did not excit me
I very rarely have four people in my rmax4 when I ride. 90% of the time my wooden floor with marine carpet is bolted to the floor. Love that I can have dry rear storage and/or spot for my wifes dogs to ride when they are with us. Short wheelbase is so awesome for the tight trails we ride as well!
Excellent review and yes, your right, most people don’t know what those back seats can do if you don’t tell them. I went to a dealer to look at a RMAX 4 and the sales person didn’t even know that the back seats move forward. So this is a great video you did to show those who don’t know and are interested in this type of configuration seat set up. I think it’s awesome!! Thanks for sharing. 👍🏽
I bought my RMAX mainly for the versatility of the back 2 seats. Sliding them forward gives a HUGE covered storage area with a shorter wheelbase. It has plenty of room when there are 4 passengers but that is very seldom. If you are thinking about buying one you will not regret it. Overall it's an awesome machine
I wasn't sure if I wanted the 2 or the 4. You just helped me decide. It looks like it would be a great machine. I've had the 700 R-spec since 2016 and it's been good to me. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.
really appreciate your video. I'm new to the sxs game and plowing through reviews, videos, specs, etc. I was THINKING exactly what you are PROVING...which is, this RMAX4 gives you a ton of versatility. For someone who doesn't exactly know they will use their machine (i've never had one before) I think the MORE versatile the machine is...the better the chances I won't regret my purchase. I've seen one other video where a RMAX4 owner has the back seats out and that is the one that really got me thinking hard on this unit. Your video is driving those points home. Shorter wheelbase certainly gives you more capability for more technical trails (I would THINK), but without sacrificing seating capacity. I can't see myself really NEEDING a dump bed (would be cool, but not often something I could see using) but DO like the idea of moving back seats up or out and having a bunch of cargo capacity for camping equipment, tools, etc...oh, and it's covered by the roof, which I think is a nice bonus. I'd love to see someone fab up a rack that could be install in this unit when the back seats are out....leaving you with a rack behind the front seats and open bed behind the rack. I think that would be really handy.
I did the very thing you mentioned. Installed quick disconnects on the rear seat bottoms and backs. Can have them totally out in under 30 seconds. Very cool.
We love our '21 RMAX4 LE for the exact same reasons you state in this video. We have had our RMAX4 for about a month now. I took the RMAX down to TexPlex in Midlothian, Tx. My grandson and I did the "Long Course" at the facility. The RMAX handle that course beautifully. The course has lots of elevation variations and too many real fast switchback turns to count that really make the RMAX's short wheelbase and handling characteristics shine. We had a blast, a lot of "Oh Sh@t" moments, driving that course at faster speeds really intensifies the course. Of course the RMAX just says "keep bringing it!!" lol Now the tough part, I got to go outside and clean that beast! Great video, especially for those on the fence about getting the RMAX. It's a "NO-BRAINER" go get one if you can find one, you will be beyond pleased.
Thanks for making this video. Seems a lot of people don’t get the appeal of the RMAX4. We ride the east coast. Trails are rough, tight, and twisty. A long-wheelbase 4-seater is absolutely out of the question. I have a RZR XP1K, but I’ve been thinking about something that’s a little more comfortable to be in for several days on a trip, and can carry more gear. The fact I can bring the whole family or a couple friends is icing on the cake. I will probably end up making the switch if the market ever returns to a reasonable level of sanity. I’m not in a rush, but the RMAX4 will likely be my next machine for all the reasons you mentioned.
You have done your research and made many good points. I got the xtr2 because the 4 looked like something you'd take a tour of Jurassic Park in. Lol my kids are grown and want to drive there own
I get it, and I agree it's not the best looking on the eyes. Having said that, the older I get, the more practical I am and this really suited us best. For all the pluses, I could get over the visual aspects that weren't appealing.
Just to add to the storage versatility reinforcement. Simple DIY cargo hitch or putting some of the bulkier/lighter items on top or attached to the underside of the roof would give me back my 4 seats and STILL have maneuverability: th-cam.com/video/b1nr0vW_nD0/w-d-xo.html I loved my Yamaha OEM cargo box while I had it, but the only thing I didn't like about it that I like with my Milwaukee Packout system is that I can unload my Packout boxes in literally under 5 minutes whereas I would have to 'unpack' my OEM cargo box quite a bit to remove it: th-cam.com/video/cpA5jYl5Neo/w-d-xo.html
@@toddroy9558 most of these rigs are noisy unfortunately. The Rmax is on the louder end of the spectrum. The 2 isn't as bad as the 4 due to the roof size. Heavier primary weights help a little. We use a rugged radio setup now so it doesn't bother us at all. It really depends on what else you are considering. An Rmax 2 isn't much louder than a general 2 but am Rmax 4 is a decent bit louder than a general 4.
@@Darkcruzer23 I have an RMAX and this was my biggest concern but the extra weight is insignificant. If you look at it closely the weight is less than 100 pounds extra without riders in the back. With riders it handles very well. Usually if there are 4 people it is friends or family and I am not driving in a way that would be pushing the limits. Anything really schetchy I have all passengers get out anyway. Normal trail riding you'll never feel the difference with 4 people
But, but but.........I want to take my two 6' 5", 250 lb kids with me when I go to gather 5 cords of wood that I only need to make one trip with my SUPER large bed in my Polaris General 4!!! There's NO space back there for my 350 lb buddies!! Man, where am I going to put my 5 cases of beer for my alcoholic children?!?! Screw portable camping grills!!! I want to take my Big Green Egg!! I have Noooooo problems getting around in my General 4!!! Who cares if I live in the great plains!!

I am considering buying an RMAX4 but I have heard that they are really loud. Does the noise bother your dogs? I have 2 dogs that I intend to spend a lot of time riding with, along with my wife.
There is also the idea if your not on my team, you suck. Haters being haters. I figured all this out myself and is why I have a Rmax4. The kids are growing and will want to do their own thing. With them or without. I don't want to drive a bus through the woods..

The stadium seating in rmax4 makes setting the action much better from the back seats

Very informative and great Ideas! Some I will definitely use.
Great points. I’m considering this model or Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000 4 seat.
I'm still a big fan of the teryx4. Just wish Kawasaki would update them

I like the versatility, but I question the wheel base out West. We have a ton of whoops and very rough terrain.
"Width" 66" vs 64" ...... I believe 64" is Max width in Maine ???

I absolutely love my rmax4! But I agree with the roof height. They could of made that alot shorter
What about how loud the Rmax is? I’m on the fence because of that. Any suggestions?

Besides u will need a 16 ft trailer for Polaris only 12 for yamaha
10 trailer for rmax2 it’s tight but fits
i love the short wheelbase vs sport utv 4 seaters. im just wondering if its top heavy and dangerous for hill climbs for a pure sport 2 seater
I have ridden mine on some decently challenging trails in Colorado. No, it isn't dangerously top heavy or tippy.

Say what is the mpg on rmax4. Waiting for mine to come in
Not sure, but if I'm driving around normally I can get well over 100 mi to a tank.
To follow up on this, generally 15 or so. I can easily get 125 miles to a tank in most scenarios, if not more like 150.
Do they or someone make a bed extender like a pickup truck?
Sure do

What is top speed?
70 MPH via GPS, speedo shows 73.
Come on say what it is! To cover up seat rails?
