Thx SO much, a great simple solution finally found! (Yes, without asking, Windows 10 auto-"upgraded" to Win 11 & railroaded over my Ubuntu/Win 10 dual boot. - No access to my default Linux System. Grrrrr! ) My attempts to reinstall Grub 2 failed various tries. Your simple clear solution worked a treat. Thx +++
Thanks for the video.......Last few steps such as uncheck the fast booting option & last cmd command solved the problem and brought back the grub menu window again
Great! However in my windows 10, there was no option for Fast Startup. So I, A) Set "when I press the power button" to shut down. B) Executed both the commands. Either or both of the above step might have worked!!
Bios settings>advanced settings>boot options > UEFI Hard disk drives BBS priorities. I think this might help idk tho, just check if windows boot manager was set as priority 1 there
good stuff straight to the point no bs works fine with "debian" instead of "ubuntu", did this config on trigkey mini pc with debian 12 fresh install and grub was not showing up now it's fixed. noice
wow! it worked, thank you! (had to use the last command to make it work), in my case I have Debian, so I've put "debian" instead of "ubuntu" (not really sure if it's really important, but well...)
how do I set this command ``bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi`` back to its default? I ran it and now I get errors when starting my pc
Well if you did use the first command just Type this: bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu no And for Restore the default path(if you did use the sec command)type this: bcdedit /deletevalue {bootmgr} path \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi If you did use the two of them you're pretty much safe to types them both in order❤
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu yes ENTER it works. Now i dont have to press F9 in order to choose either linux mint or windows 10. Automatically grub from the start. Dont forget to run CMD in administrator.
@@mybeatz4522i booted in MX Linux using pen drive. MX Linux has option called boot rescue. There i searched windows boot manager. Once found i booted to windows and then made windows as default boot option.
Hey guys if this isn’t working make sure you first off the fast startup if its open then close and then run this command and if it still not work then see fast startup again if its close then check it save and then close it and then run command and then restart the pc or laptop or whatever. Personally i have struggle a lot fixing this small issue and searched whole youtube there are other similar kind but those are waste of time
Regrettably, when running the command, I get "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The system cannot find the file specified" returned. I think the loss of the dual boot was due to the upgrade to Mint 23
For everyone who has the same issue. I went to boot options (F9 on hp laptops) and choose Windows Boot Loader as my loading source and it fixes it in short run, but you need to fix it by adjusting grub settings in Linux.
I got the boot menu but when i tried to turn on the window, my laptop turn off suddenly. Now the laptop wont turn on at all. Please reply. Thanks in advance.
if just wanna get grub like this, just change the boot priority option from windows to ubuntu in the bios. but i dont like it. im searching about how to get windows 11 grub menu style offically from windows settings without 3rd party apps 😢
Didn't work for me :( I guess you have both OS on the same drive, right? I installed ubuntu on a different SSD than windows...grzb menu doesn't show up. I can select the default OS by priorizing the boot drive in BIOS - i still don't see the grub menu :/
@@MuzicBae You need to have UEFI BIOS to make it work. My BIOS was on Legacy. I figure, your's too. I'm now hammering F12 to get in the Boot menu manually.

i'm not able to boot my pc after running the last command... Maybe explain in more detail what the command does next time (edit) I fixed this by disabling secure boot in the motherboard bios settings
For me it was just nake sure that it firt boot ubuntu instead of windows when i did commands in this tutorial it only make new windows where i have only win 11 to boot
I spent all fking night messing with my bios convinced it was my bios. I do still have an issue where my n.2 SSD formated and has had ubuntu successfully installed on it and it wont even show up in the list on the boot options in my bios. I literally even unplugged my other hard drives forcing it to boot to that one and nothing.
Thank you ... I got the system to go to grub to select which system I want to use. I can't thank you enough!
You don't have idea how much I apreciated this tutorial you save me big time. Thanks so much

You are a literal legend bro, I love it when i watch a video to fix a specific problem and it WORKS!!
Thanks for the video.......Last few steps such as uncheck the fast booting option & last cmd command solved the problem and brought back the grub menu window again
This video really saved my whole day of re-installation, losing of data and all personal configuration to the Ubuntu system. THANKS 👍🏻😊
Amazing, did these settings but for garuda instead of Ubuntu and it worked flawlessly. Thank you!
hey man thanks a lot kind of pulling my hair for past few days. Your solutions only i found precise and helpful thanks a lot
Thank you❤❤. The second one worked for me. The grub menu disappeared after i update some regular updates in ubuntu. But now it's fine thanks to you.
Great! However in my windows 10, there was no option for Fast Startup. So I,
A) Set "when I press the power button" to shut down.
B) Executed both the commands.
Either or both of the above step might have worked!!
To revert the changes just type:
"bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu no"
Holy crap that worked and I had Windows Ubuntu and Kali installed. Nice!
It works on Linux Mint too, you don't even have to change anything. Thank you.
Thanks for helping me to recover my Linux back. These steps really works. Blessings!
Bios settings>advanced settings>boot options > UEFI Hard disk drives BBS priorities.
I think this might help idk tho, just check if windows boot manager was set as priority 1 there
Be careful, you might regret watching this video and trying it
Thank you so much dude. It did work with the second cmd but i edited the Ubuntu with debian. And it worked ( i have debian 12 on my ssf)
Any idea if it would work with mint?
THANK YOU, works with debian as well, just had to replace "ubuntu" with "debian" in the last line. You're amazing, thanks again

I was a bit disappointed but after running the last command it showed the Ubuntu option 😭😭🙏🏻🙏🏻.......Thanks man God bless you 🙏🏻
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi
just run this command this will work but make it sure that cmd must run as admins
Thanks a lot. Really helpful video 🎉🎉
Thank you so much. This worked . The last command worked for me to recover my mint.
The second command worked for me. Thank you
Thanx for that . Got the grub menue back . I had to do both commanda.

Truly thanks
The last command you showed works for Ubuntu (I'm guessing). What command do I use when I have Manjaro?
Also what command to use when having arch linux
You just helped me out!!! Thanks, great job.
This is work like a charm! thanks for sharing
In the last command there is space after 'efi' 😅. It works 😊
What to do when ubuntu opens directly
Then you should configure grub files on Ubuntu, luckily it's Linux, so it may be hard, but you won't have restrictions
thank bro, it's work on my computer with dual boot (win10 & ubuntu)
when i installed ubuntu it worked fine and loaded to both ubuntu and windows , but the next day ubuntu is not showing. is it the way i installed?
Same issue u manage to solve it?
Very informative and it works.
disabling fast boot helped me
thank you sir for your help. it saves a lot of time
Thanks alot for this. It helped out🎉
Thank you, man. Saved me a lot of time
I don't think enough people know about the fast boot/ hibernation save situation in Windows. I didn't know this was going on.
How to reverse the command, its not working, and after I fix the grubloader with other method, grubloader still cannot appear, please help mee
did it worked now... i am in the same situation bro :|
Thank you for this it works correctly! 💯
i tried both above. its not showing the kubuntu in the menu.
Thanks for this informative video. Will the same commands work for linux mint as well?
No but you can replace Pacman with apt
followed the steps and it didn't work... rather stopped windows to boot as well. Spent full 2 days to get windows back to work. Try at your own risk
