Those grey things you didn’t know are bumpers for the hard drive. It stops the HDD moving around protecting it and knocking parts off the motherboard. You don’t need them with your SSD but there’s no problem in keeping them!

iPodloader looks interesting, I'll have to add that just so it's easier to get into disk mode 🙃 ...and it's a shame that clear case doesn't fit my 60gb :(

yes ipodloader is great! I recommend it to you. For the shell, I preferred to keep the basic one to be able to adapt it, they don't make one for thick ones 😩

@@ipodforever2023 I have a 7th Gen somewhere, I put it somewhere safe 10 years ago and can't find it 😅 If I ever find it again I can get the Crystal case for that one haha

Which one is better msata or sd card to CF adapter like the one which doesn't give too much heat and second give enough space for 3000mah battery...i have thick 80gb

Hi my friend. So be careful already the msata only works on the ipod video 5 and 5.5th gen. Then, for having synchronized it yesterday for 3 hours with itunes and data transfer, nothing to report for me concerning the heat. I think they can heat because they can have a high transfer speed but that this speed is limited by the device. Then for a 3000 mah battery there are two ways to my knowledge: the first simple you change the shell for thick and like that you have space or the second that I could see for back thin is to use the iflash multi sd adapter (because it is thin) to have this space.

@ipodforever2023 okay friend thanks for the info but kindly answer my two more questions 1. Which is faster original harddrive or new msata ssd
      2. music quality wise which is best ipod classic 5.5gen or ipod classic 6th gen (both 80 gb)

to answer your questions: msata is faster but not at the max speed of msata because the ipod can't support that much. For the model I'm not enough of a sound specialist to answer you even if I know that the 5.5 has the Wolfson DAC. ON THE OTHER HAND be careful with the 6th it will be limited to 128gb of extension in sd card but not in ssd it is not possible. I hope my answers will have helped you 😁
