Kaizo Mario 64 - 0 Star Speedrun in

- This is a 13 minutes and 55 seconds improvement over the previous run I uploaded.
After a little over 4 months I decided to revisit this and tried to get inside the cannon hole with a lot less speed, knowing that it would make the hyper speed walking part drastically shorter. Eventually after messing around enough I somehow managed to get in. I knew this would be doable in practice as it only requires some frame perfect inputs, and considering the huge timesave I thought this was super worth grinding.
This time around, I only needed about 24 seconds of hyper speed walking to build up the necessary speed, as opposed to almost 15 minutes which is where all the timesave comes from.

I see you took my advice from the comment I left on your last speed run. Thank you for not getting stuck in the same spot in the overworld for so long again, this time it was only 20 seconds! Maybe when you decide to play even better and just jump into the cannon like I do, we can get sub 4. Congratualtions! Your TH-cam comment hero, signing out.

What actually happens in that overworld area its kinda confusing
@@darkkirbygod Build up enough speed to basically clip into the cannon loading zone. Think of it like this: the game tries to move you in a specific direction adding speed to a "Walking Speed" value. But when Mario enters the water, he's not walking, so he's stored that speed elsewhere. Once he exits the water, walking in a specific manner and location is enough to clip behind walls at high speeds. To build up enough speed you use a glitch, which is where the speedrunner is standing in the water for about 20 seconds or so doing seemingly nothing.
I don't actually speedrun SM64 at all but from what I remember that's the very basic explanation.

It isnt cheating.
A tas is a movie being recorded on an emulator using tools like rerecords and frame per frame gameplay, then you stop writing the file and put it in playback to render it to an .avi that you can upload to TH-cam.
The playback is imdeed a bot cloning your perfect moves, but it is controlled by a human being.

Ive never seen a human performing HSW and hyperspeed movement, that's impressive
you should watch the RTABC WRs for watch for rolling rocks and a-maze-ing emergency exit, humans have gotten both of those in 1 A press each from HSWing and a hyper speed jump dive

Oh wait, that's RTA, I just realised. That's insane, GG! I knew a 0 key run of Kaizo was possible, it was just a matter of entering the cannon with a movemebt through the outside of the castle. Though I searched on YT for a TAS of it and I couldn't find anything. I was thinking about doing it myself, but I don't think I have the knowledge for it (I have a tiny experience with TASing, but not SM64), especially considering I was thinking about a similar approach as the DW skip in the normal game. I didn't know there was already a 0 key route, let alone it being RTA viable! Big GG for executing it!

Is the hsw consistent or is there a consistent setup to do it? If there is I might use it to get 156 in EE
If you set your angle using the wallhug, let the camera go completely behind you and hold exactly backwards (all as Chris does), it's pretty much consistent iirc

then how do you get to it, and what does going in the normal bits entrance do?
I use hyper speed walking (HSW) to build up a lot of speed, then reactivate it with a frame perfect input which lets me get in the cannon hole.
The normal BitS entrance has what is commonly referred to as a "kaizo trap", if you jump in, there's no warp, instead you find a fire that kills you because you cant jump out of the hole so you get burned repeatedly till you die lmao
Have you tried BLJing into the level? There’s a little slope near the lake at the edge. Is it possible to jump with enough speed to push you into the cannon/level?

yeah I've tried BLJing to get to the bowser stage much faster but could never get it to work. It is possible in TAS though

How the recording for Peaches letter to Mario at the start with the word Peach has three combined words. She is literally saying Peach, beach and bitch together into causing woe or lull. Which is kind of funny and aluring and wicked or/and wrong. Makes me want to take out a bong, like Mario would lose his hat-e. A bong is used as recuperation from mis-ery and sor-row for relief but is the opposite from a health state.

the run could realy benefit if u get some speed run advices from some world record TAS s licke using dives in specifique ways to to gain extra speed like in Bowser in the sky any ways the run relly needs some optimaisation ad my englishe too :/

Yes it's a 0 star run done without cheats/hacks. It uses complicated glitches to skip all of the 120 stars in the ROM hack
Ah it's a ROM hack. Because the last level doesn't load on the original game, right?
@@MusicCroc In the original game the last level is at the top of the castle, but in this ROM hack it was moved to be inside the cannon hole in the castle grounds which makes it very convenient because it allows to skip both key doors and go straight to BitS and beat the game
