Watching the documentary about the making of this album, you can hear his actual raw vocal versus what the engineer is hearing coming about of the playback without the auto tune and it's pretty hilarious. I have nothing but love for Tom Delonge, but a great singer-he is not.
@@Hong_Kong_Ghosts it's called "Start the Machine". You can find it on Google. It's a studio documentary about the first record and the breakup of Blink and such. They show Tom singing and you can hear his super out of tune vocals, and then they pan to the engineer and you hear what's coming out of the speakers and it's super auto tuned so that Tom doesn't have to worry about his pitch when recording. It's a cool documentary, no doubt.
Eh doesn’t matter. His songs are bangers. You can give a regular guy out there all the autotune in the world, but will songs be as iconic? Also nobody is meant to hear these vocal lines isolated
There is no autotune on this. Reverb, compression or eq are NOT autotune. People often mistake processing as autotune. While autotune CAN sometime be A PART OF IT (to correct the pitch of a not-so-good singer, or as an effect (like T PAIN)), most of the time, processing with good singers don't involve it. But compression, reverb, eq and much more are almost always used, and not only on vocals. Hope this helps.
@str1897 ya obviously he's show casing the effects he's using. Wasn't talking about that. I was talking about the raw vocal that he has (that isn't actually raw. It's compressed and eq on the way in and probably has the autotune printed on) again only talking about the "raw" vocal without the reverb. There is definitely autotune on it. But it's very subtle. Autotune doesn't always have to be Tpain sound.
@@mixedmartialoddest I’m sure Tom is heartbroken that you don’t like his vocals. I bet he’s crying into his wads of hundreds in his giant house in California that “Mixedmartialoddest” thinks he sucks.

@@alexanderwilliamson7431 I get Tom’s vocal style isnt for everybody, but he doesn’t exaggerate his voice in AVA nearly as much as you’d think he does, especially compared to what he does in Blink, for example. It’s really the production and writing in Angels and Airwaves that makes the band so special. Listen to “The Wolfpack” and it might change your mind. The booming synth and atmospheric ear candy in that song is incredible, I’ve never heard another song that sounds like it. The writing too is very imaginative and unique. Trust me bro 👊🏻
@AUGUSTIN-MUSIC He doesn't speak like that. He is doing it intentionally it's called "cursive singing" it's a cringe choice. I think the dude is a talented writer and guitarist but his singer drives me up a wall.
I wake uhhhp and oim aloive
Just as the four walls close me with eeehhhhhnnnnn
LMAO
😂 I thought this is some parody first then i saw the engineer.
@@mr.bathtub2200 nailed it hahaha
This is so accurate lol
Tom has one of those easily recognizable voices, that everyone knows isn't good but respects it because it's so iconic.
Tom’s vocals are a meme. It isn’t iconic. It isn’t respected.
Thought this was parody
Same here 😂😂😂
Isn't it?
I thought so too lol
I thought this was one of those videos without music where all the skeeqky shoes sounds and background noise is heard😂😂😂😂😂
Me too 😂
Me too a parody of aome sort.
Are you talking about "There I Ruined It?"
If not, you should check it out.
Tom is my favorite singer that can’t sing ❤️
Same 😂
He can though. He just uses his Idc inflection a lot. His solo work he sings like a normal person and it’s better this way. Ha
tom definitely benefited from studio magic
jfc tom lmao
Like he doesn’t HAVE to do this lol
OIIIIIIIIIM AULOOOOOIIIIVE
Proof that music is art.
It's done the way they wanted it to sound.
You don't have to like it....
Just like some people don't like the art you like 😊

Love this album
That Pre delay trick is cool
We need the session for I miss you pleaseeee

@ yes. Have you seen the documentary?
Hi what's the name of the documentary? Cheers.

Not enough comp
I've never in my life heard such a slammed vocal wtf, why doesn't it sound like that when i do it? noise floor probably?
😂😂 That vocal 😂😂 but it works perfectly for what he does.
Toiime Delonge!
I❤ it!!!😎😎😎

I love that compressor. It doesnt have that weird, cheap OTT sound when you crank it a little hard up
s'kudah wuz here
There’s no way 🤣🤣🤣
It's crazy that it's the auto tune makes have that iconic sound.

All his notes are flat and locked on.
More just saying his vocal style everyone mocks it's part due to Auto subtlety snaping the notes. Honestly probably done on grid mode
@@str1897There’s definitely autotune. It’s more natural, but it’s certainly there
Proof that editing can make any garbage sound good
Garbage? Angels and Airwaves has a beautifully unique and atmospheric sound. I wouldn’t call it garbage
Only way to fix this is to delete it and have someone else record the track.
It's hard to do when the singer is a superstar yet
Can’t imagine anyone but Tom singing this song
