      I just got one of these a month ago and am worried I'm having the same type of battery issues you did. Was wondering how the battery on yours was working when you first got it. On mine wjithin 15min of starting I lose 2 bars on the battery meter and then it seems to stay at that level for the next hour. Is that what yours was doing when new?

    • @jackanddan
      @jackanddan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@deantrajkov8477 It does seem like the first couple bars to go away right away it always does that even after we replace this one but we definitely think that we had a bad battery to begin with if you go through the series of videos that we did on this by looking at our playlist or just a list of videos for the last month or two you’ll see how we tested them and replaced it it really wasn’t very expensive and we honestly have found quite a few places around us to have this battery now it’s basically a wheelchair battery 1amp 12V…. You can find them anywhere from $200-$300 and so far ours has been working really well since we were placed this one hopefully the other three are better and last much longer we definitely think it was bad from the start but Ryobi wasn’t really willing to help because we have had it for over two years and they only have a one year warranty if you start to have more problems with it definitely call them before your one-year warranty is up we wish we would have but we really just didn’t think it was as bad as it was….The spring it was very noticeable though and so we figured we’d act on it and get it done before the leaves start falling this fall because we have a lot you can see in our videos and if we don’t have the full 2 1/2 hours we can’t get all our leaves done

  • @stevem1081
    @stevem1081 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have the same model, the first summer, I could mow the whole yard and still have 90% left. At the beginning of the second year(with only 11 hours on it) it would die before I could finish the yard. Since it was under warranty, I took it to the local Ryobi repair shop, they said they had worked on several of these. Seeing how at work I worked on electric forklifts and other battery-powered industrial vehicles, I have a good knowledge of knowing the signs when a battery in a pack goes bad, so I told the repair shop, I thought it was 1 of the 4 batteries, a week later, they said they found no problem, after letting it run for an hour, I asked it they drove it or cut grass, they said no, so they kept it another week saying they had driven it for 1 hour and found no problem, I asked if they checked the batteries and they said they had, and asked it they actually drove it and cut grass, they said they had not, so they kept it another week, called me back saying they cut grass for 1 hour and found no problem, and that they had checked all the batteries. So I picked it up, what they didn't know, I wrote down the hours when I dropped it off and when I picked it up, they claimed they ran it at least 1 hour each of the 3x they tested it, though the timer only had 1 hours more on it. They said they charged it and it was ready, when I got home, didn't even make it 1/2 way through the yard and it was dead, so I charged it, and had the same result. I contacted Ryobi and told them what was going on and that I had the unit to test the batteries, they said that would be fine, when I took the back cover off to access the battery tray, I noticed the bolts that hold the tray in still had the factory paint marks lined up, meaning the battery tray HAD NEVER BEEN PULLED OUT, and that is the only way you can test each battery, so the repair shop(Randys in West Columbia SC) never tested them, and they never put the 3 hours on it as stated. I checked and found 1 battery bad, Ryobi sent me on and all was good for the rest of that season, now here we are, another season and at 50 hours on the unit and at least 1 battery is bad again(haven't checked them yet) so I can say, I will be spending A LOT MORE money on this unit than I ever did on my gas unit. Plus the blades are SOOOOO thin, they don't last 1/3 of what my gas blades did, and if the grass gets just a tiny bit high, this electric bogs down, so, I won't be getting another one anytime soon. Also, seeing how the blades are directly mounted to the motor, keeping the blades balanced is far more important, using a nail on the wall or the inverted tapered thimble-looking thing are not the best option, so I bought the Magna-Matic MAG-1000 Blade Balancer, that's about 200.00, but let me tell ya, worth every penny, although there are some cheap knock-offs on ebay for about 60.00. I now sharpen and balance not only my blades, but several others for people, they really like the mower running much smoother and not damaging the bearing as fast. Bet you didn't know when balancing a blade, there is both verticle and horizontal balancing, you can't detect that with a nail or thimble, so you could be eating away at the bearings much faster than If the blades were really balanced.

    Nice it works! With those batteries like with RC cars don't ever drain them low best to leave a 1/4 left and charge and your batteries will last longer draining them to low is the worst thing for batteries. Nice purple flowers they looked real nice.

    I've got a 4 year old sears battery powered "dart Vader " looking mower I'd never thought I'd like...my son worked there during its last years and got it for $99.00. Dual 40V with load logic, gives me a putting green.

      That's great Mark....they are getting better everyday....glad we figured it all out and hopefully it lasts....pretty sure this battery was bad from the start but RYOBI doesn't seem to care....that's okay we are still pretty happy with it but we'll see how it goes....we have so many tank projects coming up this summer....you're going to like them....

    Putting The New Battery In Our 100AH RYOBI Riding Lawnmower To The Test!

  • @dwpardee
    @dwpardee 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great videos, I really appreciate them! I am having same issue, where one battery tests lower than other three and only get 30 minutes cut time. One battery company told me that should replace all 4 at same time or will damage the new battery. So I want to know, one year later, are you still happy you replaced just the one battery? Still getting good cut time? Thank you.

      We've done several update if you click on the play list and the videos linked in the description and pinned comment. It actually works better now than it did initially and like we said in the video and all the follow ups, we are sure that the battery was defective from the get go....we will continue to post updates as with all the things we review

    What are you doing with the battery in the winter time ? Do you keep the mower charging? Disconnect the battery? Have you used it in the winter and how is the battery life?

    I have been watching videos about rejuvenating batteries to make them new. Have you seen their videos? The video is called How to make old batteries new again. If you check this video out can you let me know if the batteries in my Ryobi can be renewed this way.

    • @jackanddan
      @jackanddan  ปีที่แล้ว

      there are ways to do what's called desalinating your batteries but we don't know anything about it.....we will continue to do updates and keep things going the way we have and we did a video that's in the playlist in the description on tips to make your batteries last longer and it seems to help a lot of folks

      yeah is too....we've done videos on it, but it isn't our property....luckily his landscaping guy and I talked and they are taking care of it now! People have made comments though and we wanted to clear it up....sometimes neighbors can be weird where the yards come together and it's nice when you can talk about it but we'll see if it stays that way
