I agree! David should have been a first ballot Hall of Fame inductee! Remember when it was announced and I couldn’t believe it! I am a Petty fan and have been all my life but he should have gone in with Richard! Can’t imagine racing without the Pearson family!
Larry is a treasure. In 2007-2008 I had the honor of having his brother Ricky be the crew chief I worked for at Stanton Barrett Motorsports. The whole Pearson family is wonderful.
I told David that he should have been in the first class, he said ,well it payed the same. 😂 Great family glad to live in Spartanburg,/Boiling Springs. around these guys friendly and down to earth.
I was at Bristol and witnessed that crash from the stands in between turns 1 & 2. The impact sounded like a small bomb went off. With that impact, my first thought was he was dead. The track went completely silent in the stands, it was such an eerie sound and feeling at a race track. Yes someone put Larry in a late model at LPR.
Great interview. Larry's a real racer. The way he put it into words what racing feels like. I'm near his same age & got a broken back in racing. But just like he said, i'd do it again right NOW (but doctors won't let me). David pulled out of that legends race to go with Larry to hospital. That's a real Dad.
Thanks for bringing the remaining parties of NASCAR royalty to our attention. The reminder of how stock car competition was man vs man is essential in keeping this era alive. Today's NASCAR is a whisper in what once was a hurricane. Just sayin'.
I loved this. He has the same dry wit his father had. Laughed a lot through both parts of this interview. I was at the Xfinity race before that Legends race and intended to be there, but we had to drive back home that night (couldn't stay for the Cup race though I'd won tickets for both races) and the Xfinity race had gone long with a couple red flags and such so we left. I actually remember hearing the race as we were leaving and the field get quiet and finally stop and the mention of a serious crash over the PA but not who was involved. Was really surreal. Glad that he recovered, albeit with his mentioned after-effects. And I got a big grin when he said he'd do it again tomorrow if he could. And I hope Johnny Morris got him that deal on a boat.
10:00 Wow. Your own PR guy recommends to your long-time sponsor (Chattanooga Chew) that they go with a new up and comer. I'd say he had every right to be a little pissed! Was glad to hear that "Karma" stepped in and handled the situation. lol Dude deserved it.
I remember that Bristol crash with Larry and Glotzbach. What was supposed to be a fun thing turned into a disaster. I always wondered that they had been running something like the gen4 cup cars with the small late model engine, would the accident have been as bad?
lets give Rodney Childers and Kevin A call..? see if we can Larry a ride Bass Pro Shop 21 ??? or a sundrop drink tee shirt deal.? let me call stapleton.. well get this ball rolling..

Love how Larry’s face lights up when you mention his Darlington win.

Larry seems like a real solid dude.
Damn good career too.
I remember that 2010 crash. That was a very freaky deal. Very lucky that both Larry & Charlie lived after that.
Loved his daddy all my life. And I Love this interview. Great job.

When Larry mentioned about his sponsor i bet it was Rob Moroso before Crown in 1990.

Should name the POS.
Having watched that legends race live that day, he is very very very lucky to have survived that accident. He had someone looking over him that day.
I was there to. The wreck happened in front of me and you are right someone was looking over him.
That was the greatest explanation of driving a race car i ever heard... Thanks, Larry....
You might just see that very quote on a T-shirt ...

How Did Larry Pearson Drove Buick Regal And Chevrolet Lumina From The Early 90s NASCAR Winston Cup Series Thanks For Uploading Rick And Steve
Probably because both Buick and Chevrolet were GM made vehicles.
