I do not speak Russian but I Like this song. This may be a Russian group, who's lead singer left to fight for his home in Ukraine but wherever they are from, they sound more like Chicago than Chicago itself does now, they are so wonderfully talented, and the tightest band anywhere. This is a universal group. God Bless you all and your dear friend in Ukraine. Thanks for the magic one and all.
I'm an American who married a Russian woman 23 years ago in St. Petersburg. Forget about the government, the Russian people have wonderful hearts tempered by much tragedy in their past. Leonid and friends show that heart in everything they do. Spasibo Bolshoe.

As a highlight of their last stop in Clearwater, Florida on a three week tour in America they put down their instruments and sang this song, I do not understand Russian I am Polish American and some words are similar so I got the meaning, it brought tears to my eyes, their voices were so beautiful in harmony, how could I not, as to the rest of the show they impress without enough words to say so. My thanks to you and all Leonid for bringing us your music ( The Universal Language ) which crosses all boundaries. Thank you!
Dan, We saw L&F in July, 2019 in Jim Thorpe, PA. I didn't even know that they had music like this in their repertoire. I would LOVE to hear the six of them sing this, if and when there is a concert at the same spot on 5/1/21 (7/16/20 was cancelled, have the tickets on my desk). That must have been a magical moment for you to hear that, hope that we will get to do the same. (In addition to "Happy Man", "Mongonucleosis", and any other numbers they came out with since mid-March, 2020.) Peace! :)
PLEASE add this to your playlist at your concerts. Seattle show was great, but adding this one needs to be done... give us a little treat of your culture while you're reminding us how awesome Chicago was.

I grew up in the shadow of the Cold War...however as I've gotten older I find myself becoming more and more fascinated by Russia. It started with seeing pictures of the wooden Churches built without nails, the beautiful countryside and breathtaking wildlife, the Onion Domes and magnificent palaces from the days of The Czars; Russian folk dancing, beautiful Russian faces, and now finding this TH-cam channel...I've often wished I could visit...Politics be damned!
irishgrl - Once one breaks away from the stigma of political importance, one learns that people are people, regardless of country, culture or language. We ALL have the same emotions of fear, frustration, anger, compassion, love, confusion.
I am happy you are beginning to see that. What really woke me up to this was back in 1972 or so, I was in the military during a major snowstorm in Wyoming. We were watching a television program - the first satellite broadcast between a high school in Moscow and a high school near Washington, D.C. The format was almost nothing but Q&A. After the usual formalities of "what do you eat for breakfast" and "what do you think of this music or that", one of the American students said, "Why are you Russians always trying to kill us!?!" The immediate response from the other side of the world was, "We aren't trying to kill you! You are always trying to kill us!" It helped many people to realize that it was the government propaganda systems which were "teaching" each respective side to hate the other in order to create division. In just a few minutes, these students (and I) realized that nobody really hates anyone else. We are all human. We are all of one race - the human race.

I also grew up during this time raised to hate the soviets. Well I married a russian woman 4 years ago and changed my life. Beautiful woman, culture. Stupid governments !!

In general, I am not a huge fan of French attitudes (as they often aren't of mine, in general), but once I visited there, I found the country folk are pretty much just like country folk here. I found it was more a Parisian attitude than French, but even that wasn't universal. Same with Germany. Love the Germans in little towns. Same with the Irish. If you sit wherever you are, try your best to speak their language if you're in their town (even with a book - they will laugh at your feeble attempts, laugh with them), drink a local beer and eat what they eat, you find people are just that, people. I had more fun in Plzen, Czechoslovakia (it was a long time ago) than should be allowed. They were absolutely the most fun.
Just to add to this fine conversation here: one thing that many Russians share with folks of the generally referred as developed nations is the desire, passion and talent to achieve absolute perfection in what they do! Like these wonderful humans here!
Without being Russian myself, I am very upset to see so many movie directors use Russians and Russian language only in the roles of criminals!

Well, it's time again for my daily listen, my daily viewing of "This is Rus." I got about 15 seconds in to it today before the inevitable tears and tearing up swept up and over me. One day I should be able to get through the entire song. Leonid and Yanina . . what deep and soul wrenching music you have created. My eyes are red every afternoon from listening to it. I tell people that my eyes are red from from the tree pollen in the air. I tell them it is Oklahoma allergy. LOL! Carry on!
